Someone asked about cutting down some Mustafar stuff.
I tried this, to remove the over the top fight parts from Obi Wan and Anakin’s duel. Just some different cut and a music track in the end. It doesn’t feel like SW, but I like it.
Of course it’s just a rough edit…

It feels like SW and it is fantastic!! My only gripe is that the music covers the voices at the tail end of the Anakin duel.

I don’t mind the music that much, although it’s very not Star Wars, as others have pointed out. It’s better than the original fight IMO, but I was hoping there was a way to do it without reinserting the Yoda v Sidious fight.

It’s probably not possible to do it that way, though.

I didn’t understand what you meant about cutting the whole Yoda/Palpy duel.
Maybe we could entirely cut that by showing Yoda on the asteroid meditating. With some montage it could look like he is mentally watching Obi wan and Anakin’s duel.
Even tough we would have to find other scenes to insert between the different moments of the duel on Mustafar…
What about stopping when Palpatine shocks Yoda? It would make Yoda look weaker, but we could cut out the whole fight… and we would find Yoda later, finding out that he managed to escape…

The Fallen Temple - ROTS Edit (WIP)

New text is intriguing.
I just remembered some facts: the man who dubbed Palpatine is the same of Gollum and professor Snape.
He is amazing. One of the best alive we have.
And Anakin’s dubber is the “official” italian voice of Di Caprio (almost every movie), Jesse Pinkman, Sherlock Holmes, Ramsay Bolton.
Obi Wan’s voice also dubbed Cumberbatch (just like Anakin’s dubber) in Dr.Strange, and most of Matt Damon’s movies.
3PO’s voice is the voice of Seth McFarlane in both movies and Family Guy.
Last but not least, a pretty minor voice like Kid-Adi-Mundi is one of the best classic voices we had. He is the voice of: Gandalf, Dumbledore, Zeus in Hercules, many Michael Gambon and Christopher Plummer and Max Von Sydow’s movies. A really charming voice.

Ok, I will stop now 😄

Yeah, of course it’s rough, I didn’t spend too much time on it 😉

Yeah, cause Italian, even if it’s the most direct evolution of Latin (I studied this one for 6 years), is the modernization of ancient Florentine/Tuscan dialect. Every region of Italy developed its own vulgar version of Latin. So of course many many names and words change a little bit.
Res Publica (literally, “public thing”) becomes Repubblica or Republic.
Imperium (not a form of state, but a specific kind of power) becomes Impero or Empire.
I digress too.

But I’m looking forward to this edit 😉

Good work. Yes it’s a bit strange if you understand Italian, even if only a bit.
But the voice acting here is so much better !

I wonder if there was some way to re-dub the movie in english, specially Anakin.
Perhaps some fan with acting skills and a similar voice could do it.

Anyway, for me AOTC only works if you focus it on Padmé.
Reduce the Coruscant scenes to a minimum and go with the trip to Naboo + Naboo scenes.
Anakin should not be the hero here.

What do you have in mind about this ?

Yeah, I can assure you for italians this is odd, strange.
(PS: I don’t know other dubbing systems, but the italian one is considered one of the best in general)

KILL SHEEV - A Tarantino-ish Original Trilogy Edit (a WIP)
Time

Hi everyone.
As title says, I’d like to try an edit based on Tarantino’s movie “Kill Bill”. Or better, not just Kill Bill. It will have tracks from other Tarantino’s movies, such as Inglorious Basterds, but the structure will be similar to KB.

As the original, it will be split into two volumes.

BEGINNING.

  1. Opening titles.
  2. I am your father revelation scene in black and white. Similar to Pulp Empire, but with no music and different cuts. Vader’s lightsaber is still red.
  3. Titles like in Kill Bill.

CHAPTERS.

  1. Fight on Tatooine: the Sarlacc’s battle. I put it here just to show a fight, like Kill Bill’s first scene. We see Jabba (presented with Pulp Ficion-like text), and the scene looks like a common everyday adventure for the group.

  2. The shocked young boy: we return to the revelation in Empire (this time with color), and moving on until the end of the movie. Leia is introduced like Jabba, and with a little bit of background from A new hope.

  3. The Origin of Darth Vader: considering that in previous chapter we saw Vader, and we already know he is Anakin, here we see his past. I think I’ll use parts from the prequels and the tv shows Clone Wars and Rebels. Just like in the original O-Ren scene, which was all animated.

  4. The man from Tatooine: introduce Obi Wan. In chapter 2 Luke names “Ben”, so now we find out who he is. I will add titles showing that this happend years before.

  5. Showdown in the Death Star: maybe add short voiceover from Rogue One about the Death Star. Show Leia’s liberation and Ben/Vader duel. I would like to show the battle of Yavin, at least bits of it. I’ll keep ONE single Death Star in the edit. This one explodes but the “second” one is just the first repaired.

END OF VOLUME 1: Add Luke and Leia’s birth scene from ROTS. Plot twist like in the original KB: Leia is Luke’s sister.

INTRODUCTION VOLUME 2: I’m not sure yet, but I’ll add some text explaining that the DEADLY EVIL GALACTIC EMPIRE has rebuilt the Death Star.

  1. Disaster at Cloud City: show all Cloud City scenes until the duel.

  2. The lonely carbonite of Han Solo: beginning of Return of the Jedi. Maybe until Luke is thrown in the Rancor’s cell.

  3. The wise tutelage of Master Yoda: just like in Pulp Empire, I want to use Pai Mei’s voice for Yoda, and then show how Luke beats the Rancor.

  4. Leia and I: Yoda Dies, Luke talks to Ben, rebel briefing, Luke and Leia speaking on Endor.

LAST CHAPTER: Face to Face: final fight and space battle.

Idea: How to make Episode 3 work as a standalone prequel?
Time

I don’t want to teach anything to anyone, but if you find something interesting here, feel free to use it.
https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/THE-CHOSEN-ONE-A-STAR-WARS-STORY-RELEASED/id/60721
I treated it not like a saga-movie but like a spinoff, using different text.

-Introduce Dooku: I don’t think you need this. He is the bad guy, you can explain it with Palpy at the beginning of III, when he says “He is a sith lord”.

-Explain the Clone Wars: some flashbacks, or text.

-Introduce Padme: yeah, this is needed.

Of course you have to decide wether to use mostly ROTS, or if you want to show different parts of the prequels and place time-jumps during the movie…

I feel a little bad for criticizing this, because it’s better than any work I’ve ever put out, but you asked for comments so here’s some stuff I noticed:

I personally and subjectively just don’t like the music used in the opening text, and I really don’t like the idea of force sensitivity, but those really feel like me things, so I don’t hold it against you or the fanedit in any way.

I really do like the way setting cards were used, adding the year was a good idea. Although it’s not obvious to everyone what BBY means. It limits accessibility a little bit.

Really like the way you cut out the podrace. Starting the movie where you did was effective. Additionally, cutting right from the Phantom Menace to Revenge of the Sith is also something that works pretty well.

The color correction in the Battle of Coruscant looks great. Love it! The lightsabers look a little washed out in the hangar scenes though. Color correction elsewhere also looks great. Especially in the scene where Anakin confronts Padme.

The dream effect doesn’t work so well in that one shot where Padme, Anakin, Owen and Beru are all in shot, because Padme and Beru are still visible, but awkwardly cut off. It’s like in a Pan and Scan if two characters were right next to each other in the original or in previous shots, but one was just off screen. Feels weird. There are a few more shots like this, but that’s the first thing I saw. Additionally, there being two different dream effects is a little weird, maybe (if you plan on making a second version) recreate the second dream using your effect? I’m pretty sure it’s possible using footage from later in the movie.

The last scene with Vader is a little tonally weird. Definitely less cringey than the original, and more accurate to Vader’s character, but it doesn’t fit very well in the otherwise kinda chill ending.

I love the voiceover in the last scene. It’s not the first time I’ve seen something like this in a prequel fanedit, but I fall for it every time.

I normally don’t think that you can make good prequel fanedits without straying far away from the Star Wars formula. This doesn’t really disprove that, because it does stray away from it, but it was surprisingly good and could act as a good replacement for Revenge of the Sith.

Thank you so much!!!
I don’t think I’ll make another version of this, but if I will, I’ll be sure to take note of your suggestions.
About the Tatooine dream scene I agree with you. I rewatched it some days ago and I don’t really like how it came out…

EDIT RELEASED!!!

I finally managed to upload this on Mega (with Megasync software, which was a little bit faster).

Now… it is a huge file, over 8gb, but I hope it’s worth the time.

PM ME IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, and I will give you the link to download the 9 parts.
(When you have downloaded all of them you’ll simply need to right-click on the first one and click on “Extract here”).

I’d really really really really like to get reviews and comments.
Thank you 😉

While I think the Prequels deserve to be their own full trilogy (and certainly work better as such than trying to cram all three movies into one, though it seems you have avoided that by anchoring the story to RotS and making the rest flashbacks), the novelty alone makes me interested in seeing this edit.

I agree. I don’t hate the prequels, even if they have many problems. I’ll say that I quite like them, cause the PT is the one that made me approach to SW.
My edit, of course, will cut maaaaaany plot points, but at least I hope it is a movie that can be watched alone, by itself, without giving the feel of something that is missing…

In fact mine doesn’t start with that. As explained in the changelog, it starts with Darth Maul landing on Tatooine and then with Qui Gon “recruiting” young Anakin.
I kept a small part of Maul-Qui Gon duel during the first Anakin dream scene.

I hope to finish the upload in a few days. Otherwise I’ll have to end it during the first days of August, cause I’m starting my holidays next week.
