Do you really think this is going to happen? It’s been fucking decades. If they thought it was a viable business opportunity they would have done it years ago. PTRian Johnson is a superior writer to JJ Abrams so I have hope that the flaws of TFA will be countered by TLJ and IX. TFA may turn out to be an excellent part I to the trilogy if they tie it together right. We shall see.

If only this was true. I think any classic film(s) should be protected. I’d hate to see another Godfather for example. I’m dreading Blade Runner 2!
“Protected” from sequels? Ehhhh…I will argue that films should be preserved, regardless of quality. Ex., the prequels’ original cuts, hell I’d even defend shit like the Super Mario Bros Movie (which I’m still waiting for a region-free bluray of).
However, sequels/remakes should be fair game. It’s up to the filmmakers whether it’s good or not, if it is, well no complaints here. If it’s bad…just let it fade out of existence like most shit films. For instance, the Ghostbusters reboot. If all that hate boner-ism wasn’t built up around it, it would’ve came and gone, the only impression left being Ecto Cooler and an awful Rotten Tomatoes score. Oh wait, that’s already happening. So much for all that time, energy, and vitriol all it’s detractors poured into it.
So remaking Psycho, shot for shot is okay? Copies of masterpiece paintings are called fakes! Is film not art?

That is impossible when you have a trilogy and you are forced to continue the crap established by previous instalment. TFA is currently sewers. EP8 may climb out of the sewers but the starting point will be sewers. If EP8 takes the effort to climb out the sewers, at least EP9 will have a decent starting point. Nevertheless, it will still smell.

Opinions aside it seems as though Rian is crafting an interesting and out there story with layered characters who will be tested immensely. Regardless of how you feel about TFA from what Rian has said about the film it is clear he is trying his damnedest to give us a good film. Plus JJ and Kasdan didn’t write VIII’s script so take solace in that at least.
