Introducing SW to the kids
Time

Well my son is almost 4, and since he was born I've been drumming Star Wars into his brain. Actually while he was still inside his mothers womb I was playing the music to her belly.

Anyhow, he has just now really started to ask to watch the films. Only bits mind, lighsaber duels from Empire and Sith (he loves Luke's hand getting chopped off, and loves Anakin getting fried) and likes to watch the arena battle from Clones. He loves the arena part mainly due to me giving him his first action figures the other week. I found loads of figures that I bought a few years back and never opened. SO now he has VAder and Luke from ESB, a Clone trooper from Clones and the Reek from Clones. Which for im is a double whammy...A Star Wars creature that looks like a dinosaur...He loves dinosaurs!

So at long last he has succumb to the joys of Star Wars.

When and in what format was the first time you saw Star Wars?
Time

Ok. I first saw Star Wars in 1977 at the Odeon Leicester square, London. I was 6 or 7. Loved it so much I fell asleep because I thought it was boring. Ha!!

Wasn't until it came to my local cinema that I loved it.

But I really started to love the films when I (actually my mum) bought my first action figure. Obi Wan Kenobi. Still have that very one, along with all the others, all stashed away in my parents loft with all my other Star Wars shit!

Saw Empire when first released, again at my local (which was only a 3 min walk from my house) and loved it. And because the cinema was such a short walk, I could go and watch the film on my tod whenever I liked.

But seeing Jedi for the first time is probably my happiest memory of Star Wars as a child (or at least one of them..so many) was being 11 or 12 , walking to the cinema with a load of school friends, waiting for the doors to open, and bam!..Straight to the front row. Man! When that film started I don't think the was ever a moment when I wasn't feeling pure joy. Oh man!!

So, there you go.

How many times do you watch Star Wars (OT,OOT, GOUT) - over a period of time?
Time

At the moment I seem to watch bits of each film every day.

Lightsaber duel or Hoth Battle from Empire mainly, or the duel from Sith.

My little boy has just really started to want to watch them, if in small doses. But then he's only 4 in December, so the whole film might be a bit much.

But he loves watching Luke's hand getting chopped off, and Anakin getting fried.

I think there may be something wrong with him...lol

I think the last time I watched any of the films all the way through must have been Adywans Star Wars revisited.

I've seen the OT waaay to many times in my life.

Trivial Pursuit: STAR WARS ORIGINAL TRILOGY (Part III)

Oh, but about that Luke action figure... I don't know when the first one ever came out (like if one came out during the movies' original runs), but I got really excited when I heard news that Kenner was releasing a "Bespin Luke Skywalker" figure in 1998.  It has him in his cargo jacket outfit, and his hand is removable.  That's the earliest one that I know about (and have) and it predates Attack of the Clones by four years.

Yep, You're right there Gaffer man.

But the detail in this figure is pretty cool!

And daddyvader man, you beat me to it.

It was Leia's idea.....I think

You know, I really like the new action figures that have come out for the OT.  I wish they would have had them when I was a kid.  I grew up in the 90s, when Star Wars was still super badass.  We had Micromachines, which were tight as hell, and Shadows of the Empire was brand new, but some of the simplified, more character driven action figure collections that have been put out have really impressed me too.  When did the Luke with removable hand come out? NO POINTS

I think I bought those figures around the time of Attack of the Clones.

I went into my parents loft and found so much I forgotten I'd had. Not sure whether to give him all of the figures or not.

But one thing's for sure. None of my kids will be having my original Kenner figures from 78 - 85...No waaaay!
