I wonder if the ST could be turned into a duology.

He turned down Episode IX since he was already starting to write story drafts for Knives Out.

All I’m saying is bringing him back, especially with all the legal shenanigans it took, was a bad call on Lucasfilm’s part.

I mean, who else could they have gone with?? With all the tight deadlines and overall nightmare of a production that Episode IX was going to be after Trevorrow was fired, who could they have chosen to make something even marginally better than what we got?

I think that the only real meddling that the House of Mouse did was in the editing room. The script and directorial style are mostly definitely JJ’s work, but the editing was just baffling. So sub-par for a director who usually uses editing to great effect.

These look amazing! I’ve been wanting an Extended Edition for the PT for so long and now it’s actually possible!

Depends on what you consider to be a proper continuation from TLJ. I very much dislike most “creative” changes made in TROS, but it’s a Gordian Knot situation in most cases for this film, so you can’t really change all that much.

I really, really like that! I think it works incredibly well! I also think that Luke shouting “Ben!” when he turns his head on Mustafar would be a good idea, but this is fantastic!

Hal, have you considered having Luke speak to Ben during the Mustafar Opening or when he is repairing his mask? Maybe just a quick line like “Ben”, but something just to be consistent with Luke’s last words in TLJ of “see you around kid”.

I feel it doesn’t flow as well if you move it after the Ajan Kloss celebration, especially given the musical cues and Finn’s line of “people are rising up all over the galaxy”.

Changing her saying “brother” to “father” would be difficult considering you can see her lips move. Overall I think it’s just unnecessary given that there’s far more important edits to be done on this project.

That’s honestly a really great addition! For the most part it was seamless. Nice work by whoever made that.

Not to change the subject too rapidly, but has anyone ever worked in the deleted clip of Yoda saying “Obi Wan would’ve told you, had I let him” to Luke? I vaguely remember someone making a rough edit of the hut scene with that clip added in awhile back, but has it been added to any edits?

I know George Lucas said he hated how every alien planet in the OT looked like a part of Earth, so I feel like if he had had the resources at the time, he might have made it look more like Felucia with the alien plant life. Idk, the massive trees feel pretty distinct. Plus Yavin IV aside it’s the OG forest world. That said, a bit of extra flair probably couldn’t hurt.

Has anyone thought about adding a few Yuzzums to Endor with the Ewoks like originally intended?

I feel like they would probably be living apart therefore I don’t see any place where they would fit into the existing film.

Maybe, I’d just like a little more exotic flare on Endor. It really does just feel like Redwood National. Even just like changing the shade of green on the tree leaves would add some pop.

Has anyone thought about adding a few Yuzzums to Endor with the Ewoks like originally intended?

I also intend to apply the main LUT at something like 66% in order to benefit from it overall and hopefully avoid some of its more extreme effects.

I assume there’s a LUT for it, given that Exegol was re-colored to blue, and it reverts to that brighter, more yellow/orange look after the battle ends. I could be wrong though, I’m not all that knowledgeable about color grading, just a thought I had! Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with future changes and improvements for this fan-edit, I know I’ll be following it closely! Cheers!

Ah, thank you. It is a little red but not nearly as bad as the blue tint that the movie has.

Speaking of which, have you guys considered making Exegol brighter or more tan, akin to Moraband or how we first saw Exegol in the TROS Teaser last April?

Maybe you’ve already done this and I’ve just missed it, but are you planning to remove that awful blue tint from the movie?? It was quite distracting (at-least for me) and really made some of the sets look fake, especially the Ahch-To set.

The fact that he built and filmed new sets, miniatures, actors, and props like Han frozen in carbonite still blows me away. Plus it was all to keep some of the Special Edition improvements, while getting rid of the over the top new stuff, then including his own new stuff to better improve what Lucas gave us. Def can’t wait for ROTJ. Don’t believe hes going with Yub Nub either sadly. Which is a fav of mine too

I have MAJOR respect for Adywan on what he did (his videos lead me here), but his revisited films go a little overboard for my tastes. His new Alderaan explosion doesn’t hold up all that great, and trying to make the Ben Kenobi - Vader Duel “more epic” just doesn’t work all that well for me. Hal9000’s edits for A New Hope & Empire Strikes Back are great, and really accomplish the task I’m looking for. I think for Return of the Jedi I’ll stick with 4K83 or Harmy’s Despecialized ROTJ, as my main issues with the OT’s VFX lie in Hope and Empire, not so much Jedi (apart from the Jabba Goons on the Sail Barge and the Emperor’s Slugs, but they can be overlooked). That’s the beauty of fan-edits, isn’t it? You can pick and chose which to watch!

Looked thru the change list for Hal’s Special Edition and wow! It fits the bill almost perfectly! Only issue: there’s no Yub Nub! 😛

Now, this is a slightly specific post, but what I’m looking for is a fan-altered version of the Theatrical Original Trilogy that includes the minor visual effects improvements and digital cleanups of the Special Editions, without all the clunky inserted scenes and CGI rubbish. Examples of what I mean include:

• Added subtitle of “EPISODE IV - A NEW HOPE”.

• English text repalced with Aurebesh.

• Prison Hallway Matte replaced/repositioned.

• Re-colored lightsabers during and slightly after the Vader - Kenobi duel.

• New outside look of the Yavin IV Rebel Base replacing the old Matte.

• Rebel Officers Matte replaced with real people during the ending ceremony of ANH.

• Black R2 recolored blue.

• Recomposited and digitally cleaned up Snowspeeders from Hoth.

• Improved Jabba goons walking on the top of the Sail Barge.

• Recomposited starfighters and spaceships during the Yavin and Endor space battles.

These are just the more noticeable improvements I can remember off the top of my head (there’s probably more minor ones I can’t remember haha). As someone who’s grown up with the Special Editions and vehemently hates the new CGI additions, I struggle to watch the Despecialized Versions without noticing the VFX errors that are a product of the time. I’m hoping that there’s a fan edit or fan revisited version of the OT that cleans up these errors while also keeping the heart of the theatricals in-tact! If you could point me in the direction of any fan-made versions that accomplish this task, it would be great! Cheers!
