Info Wanted: For an Original Trilogy Preservation at my College

Why you don't you donate the Editdroid set? It is the all around best set when you count all of the special features + picture quality and work that was put into the set IMO. Donate the Editdroid set with the Cowclops 1.1 Definitive Bonus disk and you've got the best set possible for the situation. Either way, it sounds like a great thing that you're doing.

Well the Cowclops one is the exact transfer from the LDs they already own...besides that though, I don't own the EditDroid ones.

Info Wanted: For an Original Trilogy Preservation at my College
Time
A bit of an update..

I've since scoured the intarweb & came up with only 2 cracks that looked iffy, but I went ahead and ran with them. Dropping them off I mentioned that i'd be interested in donating a copy of the original Star Wars trilogy to the library for their collection. I got a very positive response, but a little apprehension at the legality of it. I explained that there really should be no problems with such for three reasons: #1 - Since they already own the Definitive Collection on Laserdisc, having a backup copy on DVD wouldn't be illegal. & #2 - They are not going to be selling these for profit. & #3 - Since Lucas has no plans to release the originals commercially, these 'archival' editions then are pretty much public domain by default.

Anyway, the guy said I could fill out a donation form and bring them by & he would personally make the case for them in front of the head librarian himself.

I'm providing them all the info off of the Cowclops thread (this is version 1.1) for their records, but hopefully in a about a week i'll be able to post a link to their library that shows them as listed in the catalogue.

My only question that i'm wondering about is how they will type it up, here is how they currently have the LDs:

Edition: Widescreen collector's ed.
Imprint: [Beverly Hills, Calif.] : FoxVideo, 1993, c1988.
Descript: 9 videodiscs (ca. 390 min.) : sd., col. ; 12 in. + 1 guide ([12] p. : col. ill. ; 28 cm.)
Note: Videodisc release of the 3 Star Wars motion pictures, released in 1977, 1980 and 1983.
Closed captioned for the hearing impaired.
In container. Accompanied by book: George Lucas: the creative impulse / by Charles Champlin. New York: Harry N. Abrams, Inc., 1992.
Catalog. # 0693-84.
Star Wars: producer, Gary Kurtz ; director/writer, George Lucas ; music, John Williams. The Empire Strikes Back: producer, Gary Kurtz ; director, Irvin Kershner ; screenplay, Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan ; story, George Lucas ; music, John Williams. Return of the Jedi: producer, Howard Kazanjian ; director, Richard Marquand ; screenplay, Lawrence Kasdan and George Lucas ; story, George Lucas ; music, John Williams.
Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels.
Reissue of the 3 Star Wars films, science fiction tales of derring-do, heroism and romance. Set in the future, they relate the adventures of Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker and Hans Solo as they battle the forces of the evil Imperial army.
Rated PG.
Laser disc, CAV (standard play) format, THX.
1206631/74.99 v.1
1206631/74.99 v.2
1206631/74.98 v.3
1206631/***book
1206631/***guide

Should I put something like TR47/OriginalTrilogy.com release under the Imprint section? They are going to need to know this from me & I just thought i'd ask what everyone else thinks...

Fight the power? Good God is that what this has come to?

Haha, it does seem like that sometimes...especially when one is typing an update & listening to Public Enemy's Fear of a Black Planet.
And Bossk, I almost would hope that you would be doing much the same since you are a Jedi Spirit on here!!

And no in fact, I do tell people that these disks come from originaltrilogy.com & not from me. I also refer people when speaking of it, to also visit the X0 Project, which some people have said they would donate to since I wasn't charging for the trilogy.

At heart its all for the fans.

my girlfriend has a back full of star wars tattoos, we're both avid
supporters of the ORIGINAL versions of the films.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
that star wars freak from the other day actually sent me the first 3 star wars on dvd fo free. i dont even like star wars that much but ill take free movies
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Especially this one:

im with you buddy, i paid 60 bucks for a hot version with nice art, mixed in real 5.1 and nice mastered disks. fuck george lucas in his stupid ass. I just wish i'd had met you first...

The less people that can say that they paid for it the better.

I for one think you're doing an awesome thing. Stand up to the man! Power to the people... who, strangely enough, aren't the man, apparently.

Haha indeed.

Little update:

Since my last posting, i've frequented a couple boards, but have still found that with my presence, i'm better suited at lambgoat. Anyways I made yet another post that more clearly defined my purpose & the way to get in touch with me. The beauty of lambgoat is that shitloads of threads are started every second & people look at them. No matter what they are, you'll always get a view...my revamped star wars one got 155 views. And then a ton of e-mails & AIMs..

About 5 people practically rushed at me on all fronts with inquires...when I actually got to talk to them on a one-by-one basis, they only further reinforced my plan to actively distrubute it to people at no cost. Some highlights from a couple of the recipients:

Hey, I really appreciate it! You can send them to the address below. I'll do what I can to spread the word. You don't have any idea how upset I am that Lucas has changed the originals around. I've been stuck with watching my VHS tapes, which are more and more getting worse.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
good shit man. send me those discs and i'll spread all the love san diego can handle.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, I feel as if i've gotten really lucky talking to you today.

Fight the power.

Go say that on TheForce.net, it would be amusing what the administrators would have to say about that!

I might just have to add that to the list....although, on second thought; the people there are already so gone that it would be worthless.

Oh yeah, swearing and talking about the OOT as if it's a contraband drug is REALLY going to help our cause. *Slapes forehead*

Well, seeing as it IS somewhat contraband (Lucas denieing everyone a copy of it) & considering I was posting in the most hXc & reviled forum on the Internet, (i.e. - Lambgoat.com) the swearing was not only appropriate, but necessary. Trust me....you will never find a more wrethed hive of sum & villianry than Lambgoat.

Even though its non-profit wont you have Lucas and his cronies after you........

I assume since they don't go after the one's selling FOR profit on eBay that they would never think to look for someone like myself.
