Since we don't have shots of Billy Dee saying how the Falcon is too damaged to make the shot, we have to think of other alternatives. Like maybe not having the other Rebel ships go with Lando. But then you have to wonder what would happen if the Falcon didn't make it. More runs at the reactor? Too much like ANH.

I really don't know.

Why do so many aliens in the Star Wars saga get subtitled translations, but Nein Numb's lines are "translated" by Lando's lines. His half of the conversation tells the audience what Nein Numb is saying...

So, why not write new subtitles for this character to smooth over the rough patches and help destroy the Falcon, Lando, etc?

I have no probolem with is - it's exactly the same with R2/3PO and Chewie/Han.

The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread

Some crazy ideas I had for the prequels, some radical, others not so much:

Maybe TPM's finale could be arranged around Anakin taking out the droid controlship. Qui-Gon is dead, Amidala is captured, and the Gungans are dying on the battlefield. After Qui-Gon's death, Anakin hears his voice, like Luke heard Obi-Wan's voice during the Death Star battle. The line "Remember, feel don't think" could be re-used. Anakin pilots (not by accident) his ship into the droid controlship, and takes it out. This way, Anakin is the true hero of the Battle of Naboo, and we also see just how strong he is with the Force. It could also be a nice mirror of the earlier mentioned scene in ANH.

Another idea I had was having Qui-Gon's body disappear, after he dies. The explanation Jedi disappearing as given in ROTS felt forced, and never made much sense to me. If it's something a Jedi has to learn, how did Anakin manage to reappear as a ghost?

I have no trouble believing that a Jedi disappering after his death has something to do with his state of mind. Obi-Wan sacrificed himself, Yoda went prepared and peaceful to his death, as did Darth Vader. The same could be said for Qui-Gon. Jedi like Mace Windu and the Jedi who died in battle didn't disappear, because they couldn't "prepare" for the deaths.

Having Qui-Gon's body disappear would sidestep the problem of having a forced explanation in the final 5 minutes of ROTS.

An idea I had for for the Senate scenes in AOTC was to remove some of the lights of the Senate pods lined up against the wall. The crawl states that many systems have left the Republic, so the pods of the senators of those systems would be unused, and there wouldn't be any need to see those pods "activated". I think it would be a subtle way of showing just how much the Republic is falling apart, especially in contrast with TPM.

all of these ideas are awesome, i cant believe noone has thought of having quigon talk to anakin through the force yet! that would be especially awesome.

I second that. The use of that line at that precise point is perfect. Nice work, SilverKey.

I don't recall that being in there. Could you post a quote?

Me neither, but it has been a while since I read it. I'm guessing it would be in the "do you remember your mother?" scene?

Is that not from one of the Zahn novels?

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

Why dont all the Stormtroopers have Temuera Morrison's voice like Bobba?

The canonical reason (I guess EU) is that most of the Stormtroopers are not clones by that point - most are recruits/drafted. Most of the clones have died or retired (given that they age at the double rate).

Watched the clip last night.

Very nice work, Laser. I agree 100% with your edits so far (monkeys, dialogue removal, vine swinging, pacing) and am also glad to see the "Oh shit" removed this time around.

The colour is much improved - whilst I obviously don't have the eye for it that some here do - it makes the whole thing look much more natural - and actually looks like they're outdoors, rather than in a large green-tinted box.

This sequence, combined with your excellent de-prairiedogged clip earlier makes me confident your edit will be to my tastes (removing some crappy moments and tightening the pacing and colour, rather than going overboard and editing everything to bits as some would prefer), and will be worth the wait - however long that proves to be.

Similarly, why is Spalko a woman? What's the point from a story point of view? There's no sexual tension, and Marion never gets jealous. It could have been a man and the story wouldn't have changed at all.

You had me with all points until that one. Why should she not be a woman? Surely her gender is irrelevant in the role she plays?

my memory isn't that bad, is it? (in SW '77 - Luke misses with the grappling hook?)

My father has an old cine-film copy of a 'short version' of star was (complete with an anamorphic lens adaptor) which is edited down to about 20 minutes long. It's from the late 70s but not sure exactly when or where it's from (anyone help with that?). By way of a straw poll - how many people who remember the missed throw have seen this?

On a related note, revisionist viewing of the line from ANH : "When I left you I was but the learner, now I am the master" has more weight in the light of the 'on the council but not a Master' offence taken by young Anakin in ROTS. He's been holding to that grudge for 20 years by that point.

That's something I've always said. Ep 1 probably had the most "cringeworthy" stuff, but was at least rescue-able (as some successful fan-edits have shown). Ep II sags horribly in the middle, and the climactic scenes are ruined by bollocks slapstick, dreadful puns, and the worrying memory of rocket boosters on R2. Nice work that man. I'll keep checking back for further updates.
