I've wanted to do this ever since I saw this picture of Mark Hamill:

I know. Do you think Mark knew what he was doing when he went to the hairdressers that morning!

Or maybe his barber was a big Star Wars fan and just took liberties. It is spookily Ben like.

While browsing for current Carrie photos I noticed...

..cold shower, cold shower

This is nice...

(The signed picture) Hubba hubba..

Oops.  Well, if you are good, you become one with the Force.  Or if you live a life filled with atrocities, but do something good right at the end, you also become one with the Force.  That's about it ;)

In all seriousness, it's a topic I'm glad you brought up, and I have little doubt that such experiences have shaped religious thought for years.  I find them interesting and quite plausible, and I don't believe science has somehow answered all questions about it just yet.

If your into your music, checkout a song by a fantastic British artist called Emilie Sand called 'Heaven' on YouTube. One of my most favourite tracks from the past couple of years.

That's fine.  I respect all opinions except those that don't respect others'.  I have had many good discussions with atheists and agn...excuse me...weak atheists of the right-handed persuasion. ;)

You meant to say agnostics I assume, but it was too painful? Lol

"I awm nut ahn awnimawl... I ahm eh Jedi Knight!"

Ha ha! John Merrick in 'Star Wars' shocker!

Luke's thinking...

"Ooh, ooh! I've got an idea! You know if I ever get into films, I'm gonna direct one about a kid who meets an alien and then has a BMX chase at the end!"

Luke's thinking...

"Is it looking at me? Or looking to see if the bus is coming?"

I still can't get over the fact that the Jedi uniforms in the prequels are what Obi-wan wears in A New Hope because its what Obi-wan wears, but no one noticed that everyone on Tattooine wears the same clothes and it wouldn't make sense for a Jedi in hiding to dress like a Jedi.

I don't know but seeing as though he was in hiding, I don't think mingling with the locals was on his agenda. Maybe when he ventured into Mos Eisley to get supplies he didnt wear his robe. Shrug.

Right, like that time he ventured into Mos Eisley to charter a ship to take him to Alderaan, and changed out of his Jedi robes first in order to be less conspicuous prior to engaging in intergalactic travel.

It's a ridiculous point anyway and I WAS being mildly sarcastic C3PS. I mean at that juncture how was we (the audience) supposed to know that what Obi-Wan was wearing was standard Jedi attire?

We wouldn't because he wasn't supposed to be. Quite a few background characters in Mos Eisley were all dressed identically to Obi-Wan.

Then again, maybe Mos Eisley was a really popular Jedi hideout. Maybe the used speeder dealer burned Obi-Wan because they have a history:

What's wrong with its face?!! Lol

It's more that Uncle Owen wore the same clothes (because its supposed to be Tatooine garb). Was he cosplaying as a Jedi, in a post-prequel universe?

Hmm yeah I see your point now. Interesting, not something I've picked up on before. Just another point to add to the 'why the hell was someone classed as a knight wearing a monks outfit question?'

Well, a few minutes away made me already feel like I overreacted, so for that I'm sorry.  Yes, the creationist comment bugged me.  And reading some of your comments about the USA bugged me too.  But again, I apologize.  I know there are numerous ideas about the creation of the earth, from the purely religious and devoid of scientific, to the purely scientific absent of any religious thought.  I don't much care for folks who talk about the religious as idiots, and your comment first struck me that way.  Even if that was how you meant it, I shouldn't have reacted so quickly.  In any case, if you do feel that way, I'd rather not read about it.  I consider myself very religious and scientific, and not too stupid either.  I'd love to hear your perspective.

No your clearly not stupid. Well firstly, I must state that I'm not religious at all. It's just not the way I have been brought up. I know the difference between right and wrong, and(I like to think) I'm a morally good person. But Religion wasnt fundamental in shaping the person I've become. It hasn't taught me about ethics. Religious Education at school was usually the class me and my friends at the time would bunk off (play truant). I do believe in Evolution though. The evidence for it is there and through geology it has been proven with fact the age of the earth. Im sorry I can't give you a more comprehensive response darth_ender but religion isn't a subject that really interests me a great deal.

Hey, it's me., you have officially gotten on my nerves with your know-it-all attitude.  Don't you think there are already enough arrogant people who state their opinions as facts on the Internet.  There certainly isn't a shortage, so we don't need further contributions from the likes of you.

I'm sorry I haven't stated anything as fact and I'm far from being a know it all. If you've misunderstood me giving my opinion as me being pretentious then that is not how I have intended to come across. I'm NOT here to intentionally upset anyone. Has the creationist comment upset you?

Star Wars: Episode VII will be directed by JJ Abrams, from a script by Little Miss Sunshine writer Michael Arndt. Lucas will serve as a creative consultant on the new films.

To quote Vader "NOOOOOOOO!"

He's not directing, he's not writing dialogue.

So, he's right where he's good.

He must be great to have around as a creative consultant, he is the guy who created this universe in the first place, so he is the one you're turning to whenever you have any questions regarding what works and what is not in the SW-universe - he's the expert. You cannot do anything silly like putting jetpacks on Artoo for example, as it breaks the in-universe rules established by the previous films. Those sort of things.

I seriously doubt you'll see R2 floating around with his little rocket boosters in Episode VII. He'll be old Skool R2 like he was in the OT. (And thank god for that)

Yes, because football players are wimps.

Exactly.

If I found myself in a bar fight with a professional American football player, I'd run away and knock over a few chairs and other objects behind me, and wait for him to trip on them and call a time out.

If I found myself in a bar fight with a pro rugby player, I'd reach for the nearest pen and paper and start jotting down my will.

A professional Rugby League player would trip over the chairs too. A professional Rugby Union player would probably be so polite that you wouldn't get into a fight in the first place.

Oh your so wrong. Rugby players love to fight. But they'll shake your hand and buy you a beer when its all over. That's if your not slumped over a table unconscious offcourse. :-)

Big Trouble in Little China (1986)

The '80s were magical. Man do I love this movie. It'd been a while since I'd last seen it and when I found it on blu-ray I knew it was meant to be. John Carpenter is amazing. We have him to thank for Big Trouble in Little China, The Thing, They Live... Actually thinking about it...I wonder why he didn't/couldn't get Kurt Russell for They Live. I mean I love that film as is but now I can't help but wonder what it would have been like if he'd starred in it. Anyway, this film really shook the pillars of heaven. Oh and you know what else did? This music video.

Kon-Tiki (2012)

Saw a trailer for this a while ago and have been looking forward to it for a while now. So last night when I randomly decided to see what was playing at my local limited run theater I ran out there when I saw that they were playing this. Fantastic film! Excellently written, directed and performed. I was really quite surprised by the excellent visual effects throughout the film from the recreation of 1940's New York to the various sea life it was all superb. Another thing I was surprised by was I think they shot two different versions of the film as the film I saw was entirely in English and wasn't dubbed. Meanwhile I've seen trailers that have scenes in Norwegian. Anyway, as I said a fantastic film that never bores but kept me on the edge of my seat a number of times. They took a crazy risk doing what they did and now I have to learn more about Thor Heyerdahl.

Big Trouble was actually the last film I watched. Its an absolute classic. I've got all of Carpenters best from that era, Escape from New York, the Thing, Big Trouble, They Live. What a golden era that was. "Like I told my ex wife I said honey I never drive faster than I can see. Besides that, its all in the reflexes." Strange Plinkett didnt mention him in his everyday schlub who becomes the hero reference? Oh well.

Yeah it's a good interview. I like Kermode but its not very extensive. Just a brief history of JJ and what he's been up to the last 10 years. Star Wars is mentioned but not by JJ.

Yes more of an insight into his creative methods. His Bad Robot office sounds awesome!

Yeah admittedly that place did look VERY cool. JJ comes across as a good guy. Never really paid attention to him before, but the more I see and hear from him? I like the man.

wish I could see it, but it is blocked for me in the US

Sorry, but this kinda brings a smile to my face. I thought it was just Brits like me who got shafted over content. I pay my money to Netflix and only get a 10th of the content that US subscribers get.

It's a very good program with Mark Kermode presenting (aka "The good doctor", Britain's premier film critic and skiffle musician).  You've probably seen some of his documentaries on DVD extras about Aliens, The Devils, The Shawshank Redemption and The Exorcist.

I'll try and upload this JJ special somehow for US fans to watch.
