Plus, there sure as hell were no huge numbers rejecting the BD release (it's in the top 50 best selling BDs of all  time) and that was a terrible release not just for the changes - if they marketed the SE in 4K with fixed colors, they'd almost certainly have a huge seller on their hands and then they could at some later date double-dip with the OOT. I certainly don't wish it to happen this way but it's a distinct possibility.

Cinema came way before television, so screens were big before they were small and the content on them was crisp and detailed before it was low-res and blurry. And we're just getting closer to having the same thing at home. At least that's my personal point of view.

Well, actually, this is why I'm afraid the restoration still may not be the OOT - 4K Star Wars in any form could be a powerful motor for early-adopters.

Oh, yeah, no doubt about that - he can watch it black and white and pan and scan too for all I care. What I'm doubting is his premise that HD video is sharper than real life is. :-D

No, I haven't seen it before the public release.

Selective color isn't in AE - I use the Hue/saturation effect, which allows for shifting the hue, saturation and lightness of specific color-ranges.

It's the original LD soundtrack.
DTS-HD doesn't work in AVCHD and by all accounts, the LD 5.1 audio is really good.

If you're making an MKV from it, what's the point of using the AVCHD at all?

Thanks! Though somehow with the image smaller like this, the amount of cleanup work that was needed on the 35mm footage isn't as visible - it's not as dirty as the Lapti Nek footage but it still has those constant scratches on the right side of the image, which mostly must be painted out manually.

I knew who Keyser Söze was when watching The Usual Suspects... I found the whole experience kinda boring.

Right, this guy sent it to me a while ago and it was a part of a video that looked like film being projected in an archive somewhere filmed from the screen with a video camera.

Well, I did use parts of the BD footage in a couple of places and in the over-head shot of Luke I used the 35mm just for the Sarlacc but most of them are just full 35mm shots.

Only the altered shots are from the 35mm and they are more copped because of stabilization.

As to the colors, they are still work in progress but I'm not sure the scan is 100% correct either - it probably isn't corrected yet.
