Literally nothing has happened on the ROTJ front lately - I've been super busy, plus I've been waiting on some new hardware to arrive (should hopefully be getting it this week). Which is why I unfortunately have no May the 4th present for you guys this year.

I just told Team N1 I'd be happy to help them but nothing much has happened there yet either. I did get some more scans (albeit it far from all of them) and I'll definitely be posting some samples as soon as I get some cleanup done.

There have been some fairly exciting developments on the original Star Wars front but I'll have to keep those under wraps for a while.

No, we live in a world where the people who worked on the '97 SE read the books. If Corucsant in the '97SE was already a PT reference, then why did they have to alter it in 2004 to make it a PT reference?

Actually, what I have is a scan of a good reference print, so there's no guarantee that it is perfectly correct. But yeah, memories are the worst reference, plus it sounds like they just watched a part of my sources documentary (thrice re-compressed, if they watched  it on youtube) and his dad just made some off hand comments.

To be honest, it's starting to make me physicaly ill to keep going in circles discussing the colors in Despecialized - I'm the first to admit that they are by no means perfectly accurate but they do look much better than the official BD. Can't we just leave it at that? If I ever do anothwr version, I'll be starting completely from scratch anyway, so there's no real constructive point in discussing the colors in the current one to death.

Oh, no - I'm not hinting at anything like that. Just showing off my new setup, that's all. I'm not in charge of making the BD.

Actually, 4K TVs are dropping in price rapidly and can be had for as little as $350. But I agree that 1080p might be sufficient for now, as the detail in a projection print isn't likely to exceed that.

I actually thought of making a few for sale, but then decided it was against the spirit of Harmy's work. I'll include all the elements to make everything yourself. Though be forewarned, its a ardulous process to recreate, and not inexpensive.

As long as they didn't include the actual movies I'd be fine with it :-)
Actually, how would you feel about making one of those babies for the guy who made the Despecialized Edition? I'd be happy to cover the cost of postage and material. Pretty please...

It would make me all giddy to have these on my shelf and even more so if I knew and could tell people that they were made by fans of Despecialized!

Those are some of the best seeded torrents on the spleen. Try using uTorrent instead.

 Thanks, so far I've only used the speeder scene from mos eisley and the censored blaster impact (were is this sourced from btw? The detail is on par with the bluray).

Having a hard time to match the mos eisley scene with my version though, I wish I could get my hands on a non manipulated clip of this scene. Is the source for that from Team Negative1?

 I could provide the original clip if Team Negative 1 give their blessing but it has a lot of grain and dirt and it also has a big "Saving Star Wars" logo in the lower right corner, which I had to paint out.

Yes. Grain also helps create the illusion of detail. It's really all about the experience - if you feel like you're watching a detailed image, it is more important than actually seeing one that is a little more detailed but actually feels less so because everything looks like plastic.

That is not what the BD looks like. But if there were scenes looking like that, I would simply add some grain.

Oh, the fact that they actually build this droid practically was one thing I was extremely impressed by.

I don't know, to me, both of these images look like photoshop paintings, especially when viewed at full resolution.

Well, based on how horrible Black Angel looks on iTunes (and that is HD), I'd say that even if it is the original, your LD rips may still look better.
