'Raiders of the Lost Ark' - bluray and colour timing changes (Released)
Time

Yeah, that's why the painting itself should also be preserved independently of the movie, maybe as an extra on the BD, like the SW mattes.

Plus I don't really see anything wrong with the way it looks in the original movie - I've seen far worse matte-painting composites.
Plus it's not a great matte-painting to begin with - the background has a bit of a pencil-sketch feel to it - a bit of blur actually help it look more realistic.

Well, I think it's simple: a preservation of the matte-painting is a high resolution scan of the matte-painting itself, a preservation of the scene where the matte-painting was used is a high resolution scan of the earliest possible generation of the final composite of the scene.

Any sort of digital recompositing is revision and not preservation.

Color matching and prediction: color correction tool v1.3 released!

Bluray matched to Senator screening:

I will update the video sample, based on this color correction model.

Here's a quick adjustment of the BD image I did in PS:

I'm now convinced both the Senetor pictures and the IB scans I used were pretty green shifted and this is probably the way I'd go if I did another version.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

I just said this in the ROTJ thread:

Until there's an actual official announcement, I'm not stopping this project (though it has been on pause for a while now, because I'm super busy in real life, plus I'm waiting for some behind the scenes stuff) and then if there is an announcement, we'd still have to wait and see what the quality is like before abandoning these fan projects - remember the GOUT?

TheHutt:
Yes to the Rancor - I've always wanted to fix that but never had good enough source material.

As to Palapatine, v1.0 of ROTJ is based on HDTV, which had this, so it definitelly hasn't been removed in Despecialized.

Dr. Nick:
Where have I ever implied that? Until there's an actual official announcement, I'm not stopping this project (though it has been on pause for a while now, because I'm super busy in real life, plus I'm waiting for some behind the scenes stuff) and then if there is an announcement, we'd still have to wait and see what the quality is like before abandoning these fan projects - remember the GOUT?

Star Wars GOUT in HD using super resolution algorithm (* unfinished project *)

I know very little about this stuff but would it be possible to connect it to some cut detecting algorithm, so that it references one frame in each shot (or by setting the cut detection to much lower sensitivity possibly just each scene) and then apply that to the corresponding shot/scene in the file you want to correct?
