Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

The AVCHD version is meant for DVD, for those who don't have a BD burner - it could of course be burned to BD but that would be a waste of space - if you have a BD burner, you should download the MKV version and either burn it directly to BD, if your player can play MKV or use TS Muxer (freeware) to create a BD ISO from it, which won't lose any quality and can be easily burned on BD and played back on all BD players.

Project Threepio (Star Wars OOT subtitles)

Maybe you should devise a new method of sharing? This must get annoying.

The peaking interest may have been caused by me posting this on the Despecialized FB page:

For those looking for where to download - I can't reply to all the messages, I wouldn't be doing anything else all day. Please check the "Long Description" in the "About" section here.

because the descriptions of the Despecialized downloads do include a link to this thread.

Harmy's RETURN OF THE JEDI Despecialized Edition HD - V3.1

Actually, I think that the original ESB emperor looks much closer to the ROTJ one than the bloated ROTS Darth Shittious they used in the ESB SE, even though it's the same actor. Plus of course, the new dialog is awful. But Adywan was able to create something that has the best of both worlds:

Color matching and prediction: color correction tool v1.3 released!
Time

I downloaded a program called Briz LUT Converter and used it to convert the .cube to .3dl and that loaded fine in AE - but the Briz converter trial only lets you convert 10 files and then you have to buy it - I don't know if there's any freeware that could do the same thing.

Here are the .mat, .cube and .3dl files from my test, so that you can check them out DrDre:

Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**
Time

Yeah, I agree - the behind the scenes clip is definitely the most goose-bump-inducing thing released so far - it gave me hope for the movie. This new trailer did nothing for me and I don't much like what little of the story it revealed. And all of the spaceship shots still look like 90s video game cutscenes, which is very disappointing to me.

So, I fired up the projector to watch the new trailer and there was a power outage just as I was in the middle of it - that was a pretty dramatic moment - I'm watching the trailer and suddenly crack and I'm immersed in complete darkness.

I really hope the lamp in my projector survived this (you're not supposed to turn the projector on for a couple of hours after it's been turned off, so I can't test it right now).

team negative1 - star wars 1977 - 35mm theatrical version (Released)
Time

I guarantee you that you've not seen the Hobbit projected at 8K - best case scenario it was 4K and probably 2K, which is what a lot of theaters still use (including digital IMAX). But either way you saw a 2K copy of the film, because the whole trilogy went through a 2K DI process. And I think any hyper-realism stemmed from the 48fps, because I felt the whole thing actually lacked detail, especially in people's faces, compared to movies shot on film.

Star Wars GOUT in HD using super resolution algorithm (* unfinished project *)
Time

I've noticed a tiny framing discrepancy between PAL and NTSC GOUT of SW before but my guess would be that for NTSC, they simply encoded the master as it was, whereas for PAL, since they had to resize it anyway, they decided to crop of the pillar boxing while they were at it.

I would suggest that since the crawl came from a new (and so likely HD or at least anamorphic) source, the PAL DVD should theoretically offer better resolution for that - should be an interesting comparrison (I don't have NTSC GOUT, so I can't do it myself).

As for Jedi, it is by far the best looking of the three GOUT masters, especially the PAL version, which, unlike the other two, actually seems to come from a PAL source.
