OK, I’ll put it on teh and then make a post saying I recommend this instead of DEEDv2.5 and it can be found the same way as Despecialized 😃
I was thinking about saying the above on my facebook page but I’m not sure what your distribution channels are and whether you wanted to go so public (currently nearly 27,000 people on the page).
I could put it up on tehparadox, if you wanted.
Wow! Looks great! Until I can make a new version of Despecialized (and this will be an invaluable asset in doing that) I would definitely recommend Team Negative 1’s version over Despecialized v2.5.
Wrong thread?
JEDIT: NVM. The lack of context confused me.
Yeah, my mistake - I didn’t notice there was another page. Fixed it with a quote.
I was thinking that when watching the movie - the light reflections from the sabers looked really natural.
I saw the movie again tonight and I noticed that the blades reflect red and blue in the character’s eyes. I think they really had glowing sticks on set, which is excellent.
Yes. You can see it here:

Well, actually, ISO may be a little better, since it’s easier not to screw up the burning process. But content-wise, definitely the same thing.
Yeah, Empire generally has colder colors, so it would look better than SW with warmth too high.
Yes, it will potentially be released some time in the next two to three years.
The password definitely should be harmy. Are you sure you have all the files? I can’t see any other reason why it shouldn’t work.
Check if all the rar files are the same size except for the very last one - it could be that one or more didn’t get downloaded properly.
The formats I released are:
MKV - large 720p file with tons of audio options, some of them lossless, that can be losslessly turned into a Blu-Ray using TsMuxerGUI and burned to a BD25.
AVCHD - smaller 720p file with less audio options, all with lossy compression, and slightly less good video quality, which can however be burned to a DVD9 and played back on most Blu-Ray players.
Then Chewtobacca also turned the MKV version into an NTSC DVD5, which is good quality for DVD but pretty bad compared to the HD versions.
Versions 1.0 were only available in the AVCHD format, which is why ROTJ v1.0 is only available as such.
The workprint of ROTJ v2.0 was never meant to be a wide release, which is why it’s only a smaller MKV file, but the encoding is done in a way that it can be losslessly turned into an AVCHD with TsMuxerGUI and burned on a DVD9 and played back on most Blu-Ray players.
The final ROTJ v2.0 will again have the same formats as the other v2 versions - MKV, AVCHD, NTSC DVD5.
Oh, I wasn’t saying you shouldn’t, just that there’s already a version in the works that should have the full specs. Though with some of the limitations of BD, I was actually thinking for an eventual v3.0 release it may be good to do separate releases by region - each of them could have the main English audio tracks and all dubs and subs for that region.
I don’t think Encore can handle DTS-HD, nor can it handle the number of tracks present here - this is why we are waiting for someone with better software at their disposal to do it.
Nanner Split also has my custom menu backgrounds that I sent him.
Same as Empire v2.0.
Yeah, looks like the same transfer without compression and all the fake grain they added to the BD after they scrubbed the real grain.
I can’t stop looking at that comparison though - it really shows how bad the BD is.
And will continue doing so, I think - Alien 1 for SW and ESB and Alien 3 for ROTJ.
You can go ahead and download - there will be a final version pretty soon but the more eyes on the WP the more likely it is that problems will be caught.
I’m pretty sure this image is just created for promotional purposes, using the 2004 master with gamma increased and colors oranged-up (the deep magenta shadows are very telling) and it seems like they replaced the whole sky.
And you think the colors in this screenshot look good? I personally think they are super ugly. And it looks very much like the 2004 master, only with even more screwed up color and without the clouds over the lower sun - maybe it comes from the scan before they added the clouds?
It looks like it was, Harmy. The GOUT seems to match the 35mm scan.
Yeah, I didn’t realize it, but as soon as CatBus mentioned the possibility, I remembered Jedi was the last one done of the v1.0s and I probably just used the same logos I already had from SW or ESB.
Actually, ESB v2.0 also uses the same logos as SW v2.0, which were taken from a 35mm print of SW, so if ESB also had the logos slightly different, those are also not perfectly accurate in v2.0 - this will of course be remedied in v2.5, now that we have complete 35mm versions of ESB thanks to TN1.
All right, folks, the stereo mix for RotJ is completely done. I made a total of 26 edits to get it into a usable condition: patching over 12 reel changes, 2 laserdisc side breaks, and 3 other spots where sync is lost (possibly because of 2:3 cadence errors in the video); as well as 8 dropouts and 1 fairly severe instance of tape distortion.
That’s in addition to matching the level and EQ of the different sources to each other . . . It added up to kind of a lot of work, due to the necessity of listening closely to so many small details repeatedly; but it was definitely worth it, because this track sounds brilliant now. I hadn’t listened to it in years, since I’d mostly just been hearing the 1993 version lately. The 1983 mix is great, in some ways better than the '93, despite being less powerful. If the 70mm version sounded like the '83 stereo but with better dynamics, then I really wish we had a copy of it, because that would definitely be the ultimate version.
I’m now getting the Bluray LFE lined up with the GOUT, and from there it’s just a matter of setting the levels for the bass effects to blend in. Shouldn’t take too long, hopefully. Doing this in Pro Tools is so much easier than it was before, that’s for sure!
Excellent news! It seems in the end you’ll finish these ahead of me 😃
It would be amazing to have a nice restoration of the SW mono-mix, since the best source we currently have is a VHS recording and I can’t imagine anyone here could do a better job than h_h, so I really hope this colaboration happens.
Would the 35mm audio also be better than the LD audio for the stereo mixes?
Hm, yeah, that someone could have well been me - I’m gonna need to check 😄
Here’s something interesting:

The new logos are definitely 100% accurate to ROTJ, since they come from a 1983 35mm print and yet, the v1.0 logos, taken from GOUT, have very different spacing and fonts.
Yeah - mainly, the logos in the workprint are the v1.0 GOUT ones, whereas these new ones are actually restored from a 4K scan of a 35mm print of ROTJ.
