PM sent :-)
@canofhumdingers: Yeah, you were the first person to spot that glitch after 7 years it's been out there, that's quite cool :-)
Oh and thank you Danny Boy for posting that picture, the glitch is much more visible there. Here's a screenshot from the HD version of that video:
PM sent, thank you for checking it out.
@jerlgrain: If you want to check it out anyway, I'd be more than happy to send you the link, I just wouldn't recommend using it for casual viewing, as it is not a finished product, there are a few mistakes, it's quite compressed, there's a picture in picture GOUT footage in the corner and a watermark.
PM sent. Thank you :-)
Um, well, I wouldn't recommend that. It is a workprint and it's not aimed for casual viewing. It's only 2GB, so it's quite heavily compressed and is not representative of the final quality.
What I need from my WP reviewers is to look for:
1) Encoding glitches (I already found one, so there may be more)
2) Forgotten SE changes
3) Colour inconsistencies
4) Other mistakes such as missing frames etc.
Well, even in that sense the crack is not relevant, because, as you say it is in the original negative and has always been there, while the humdinger glitch is a problem with a TRANSFER of the SE negative - it's not on the SE negative, so it's a transfer error and therefore cannot be compared to that cell rip at all.
What's that cell rip got to do with anything?

making a new transfer of TPM to get rid of the pinkish tint the DVD had
Obviously, the new transfer was not made just to get rif of the pink tint. The movie needed it.
So did the OT, not to mention the OOT. Now it seems that the new TPM transfer will be the only thing in the set (in terms of actual films) that we don't already have.
The workprint is finally up!!! So who will be my testers? ;-)
Hehe, I must say that although LFL using the old master is crap, finally having a proof of it feels like a total victory over all those saying that it will be a new transfer :-)
I already did that. Will be putting it into SW DeEd v1.2 :-)
Mind = blown.
WTF is going on!!!??? This is madness!!!
Yeah, when you do that and don't compensate for it with adding more contrast, blacks stop being black, which is especially bad in a transfer with horribly crushed blacks.
As for that TPM pic, it sure looks like a new transfer.
Yep, that's there, someone already pointed this out to me (might have been in a PM). Seems like for some reason there's a missing frame. I'll see what I can do about it, hopefully this problem doesn't appear in other sources.
Thank, Ady, that's what I thought, I just wasn't sure whether I wasn't missing anything.
Well, I totally agree with Zombie that the most impact that the prequels had on the pop culture was that they became the example of a bad movie.
- So is the new Harry Potter film really so bad?
- Well, it's no Phantom Menace but it still sucks ass...
EDIT: I'm referring to the sunset screenshot:
Yeah but it looks better with the increased gamma and so would most of the lightsabres, so the question is will this be done to the actual video or is it just the picture. Maybe they'll take the 04 transfer but make some colour alterations?

I always thought it was inspired by a human hand.
Weird, I checked it and I'm not seeing this at all.
Thanks :-)
Well, I'm encoding the Jedi workprint now, which means, I'll start working on SW v1.2 soon, so if anyone has any more suggestions, speak now or forever hold your peace, because I'm NOT doing v1.3!!!
@005: Yeah, the moment I found out that the preview video is from the battle of Yavin, I immediately set out to search for that glitch and sure enough, it was there. I also posted about it over at HTF. People need to know and I wanted the news to reach a wider audience :-)
They still might have fixed some things, like the worst lightsabre problems, as even the gushers are complaining about those (or at least agreeing that they are a problem), and it would be super easy for LFL to fix those, so if they didn't even do that, it means that they seriously don't give a f*ck at all any more.
And the encoding was only about halfway through...
Yeah, that couldn't have been good at all.
My computer doesn't normally overheat enough to switch off but I guess having the CPU running at 100% for twelve hours didn't help...
I have a huge fan pointed at it now and it's still pretty f*cking hot anyway...
Fucking hot weather!!! My computer overheated and switched off halfway through the encoding, so I'm starting over!!!
Lord Vader: The Emperor will be displeased with your apparent lack of progress.
Me: He asks the impossible, I need a better computer and air conditioning...
