Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)

@canofhumdingers: Yeah, you were the first person to spot that glitch after 7 years it's been out there, that's quite cool :-)

Oh and thank you Danny Boy for posting that picture, the glitch is much more visible there. Here's a screenshot from the HD version of that video:

PM sent, thank you for checking it out.

@jerlgrain: If you want to check it out anyway, I'd be more than happy to send you the link, I just wouldn't recommend using it for casual viewing, as it is not a finished product, there are a few mistakes, it's quite compressed, there's a picture in picture GOUT footage in the corner and a watermark.

Um, well, I wouldn't recommend that. It is a workprint and it's not aimed for casual viewing. It's only 2GB, so it's quite heavily compressed and is not representative of the final quality.

What I need from my WP reviewers is to look for:

1) Encoding glitches (I already found one, so there may be more)

2) Forgotten SE changes

3) Colour inconsistencies

4) Other mistakes such as missing frames etc.

Well, even in that sense the crack is not relevant, because, as you say it is in the original negative and has always been there, while the humdinger glitch is a problem with a TRANSFER of the SE negative - it's not on the SE negative, so it's a transfer error and therefore cannot be compared to that cell rip at all.

making a new transfer of TPM to get rid of the pinkish tint the DVD had

Obviously, the new transfer was not made just to get rif of the pink tint. The movie needed it.

So did the OT, not to mention the OOT. Now it seems that the new TPM transfer will be the only thing in the set (in terms of actual films) that we don't already have.

EDIT: I'm referring to the sunset screenshot:

Yeah but it looks better with the increased gamma and so would most of the lightsabres, so the question is will this be done to the actual video or is it just the picture. Maybe they'll take the 04 transfer but make some colour alterations?

@005: Yeah, the moment I found out that the preview video is from the battle of Yavin, I immediately set out to search for that glitch and sure enough, it was there. I also posted about it over at HTF. People need to know and I wanted the news to reach a wider audience :-)

They still might have fixed some things, like the worst lightsabre problems, as even the gushers are complaining about those (or at least agreeing that they are a problem), and it would be super easy for LFL to fix those, so if they didn't even do that, it means that they seriously don't give a f*ck at all any more.
