Yeah, that's pretty awesome, it wouldn't alter the introduction of Luke but it would add that awesome scene back. I really like that scene (much more so than the one where his friends don't believe him about the battle, which is pretty crap) it gives you a much needed idea about why the Empire is so bad and it has a great pay-off in the Yavin battle, when Biggs dies.
And there is apparently a gap between the diner scene and the sunset scene, as the dinner takes place in daylight.

Not true, when you look at these 70mm cell scans, there's actually more picture information on the sides than there is in the 2004 SE, which is the least cropped transfer to date.
Maybe a sample would be good, so people can actually get some idea how much was done to improve the picture quality. This one should do:

Oh and all this made me forget the important question - none, are you sure it's not in the WookieGroomer release? How would that be possible. Is he still around? Maybe he fixed it or something. It couldn't have just disappeared, could it?

I never had any complaints about the compatibility of any of my HD releases and they were all AVCHD.
Well, that's the thing though, you can't judge with certainty from colours and such until you've actually seen the blus, but when this glitch appears, it means it is the 2004 transfer, no doubt about it. There's practically a zero chance that the same error would appear again in a different transfer.
And as to why we have to keep posting about it? Well, for one, we want the least amount of people possible buying this set - LFL needs to be punished for putting out yet another half-arsed release and pushed to do better next time. And also, at least for me, it's a bit of a pride thing - when we said we had good reasons to believe that they'll recycle the 04 transfer and some people were laughing at us, it feels nice when new evidence appears to support our opinion and it's fun discussing it. And of course there won't be no actual world changing outcome of this discussion but we just enjoy it. We're not really following any goal...
(DJ: what in the hell do you guys think to gain by this now? is petition going to be started? or a boycott of the Blu's?)

I already noticed and fixed no. 4.
I'll look into the matte boxes but the thing with those is that I must increase contrast in order to get rid of them and when you increase contrast, you loose detail in both dark and bright areas, so you can only do it to a point.
I think the new master for Episode 1 may actually have been done mainly for the 3D conversion, as they would need to have a complete digital copy for that and the old DVD master wouldn't be good enough for theatrical presentation.
Although, what I find curious is that it is documented that there were digital projections of TPM in 99, so why didn't they use the digital copy made for those projections for the DVD? I doubt that it could have been the same master, as the current DVD transfer (and its HDTV 1080p counterpart) wouldn't withstand the test of a theatrical presentation very well at all.
Another thing I need you to check in the WP is the garbage matte boxes - not matte lines mind you - a matte line is a thin dark outline that follows the edges of the composited object (I want to keep those) a matte box is a slightly brighter rectangular area around the object (I want those reported - I may not be able to get rid of them but I'd like to try).

Again, there is no such shot anywhere near 54:30. It sounds very much like encoding problems and I'd definitely like to catch those for v1.2. Could you please locate the shots for me.
I think that the white thingy is quite clearly a hair that got stuck in the gate but not during the telecine but when the print used for the telecine was being struck - that would explain why the hair is white and why it is only there for what seems to be one reel.
