Sorry, man, didn't mean to get snappy :-)
Sorry, man, didn't mean to get snappy :-)
Um, you mean would be equally problematic to despecialize, right? I knew these were recomposited the first time around and chose to leave them and nothing's changed. What I would like to change are the composites of Falcon coming to cloud city, since these are very obviously recomped but I'll most likely be keeping these fleet shots, unless a cleanup of Puggo Strikes Back proves to work really really well here. I'm definitely not using the GOUT for those and I don't think any of the 97SE ones are much better.
^This.
Um, John Williams isn't dead...
Yeah, none of those were significantly altered in the SE, so there's no need for me to use them. I just wish I could find the Falcon in the DS hanger matte. The one from Rinzler's book is the same one that's on the Blu-Ray matte collection and it was indeed never used in the films :-(
But I'm not quite sure I've got them all.
That sounds like a good idea, especially because in the case of Oscars, the argument about it being the same basic films is totally moot, since many of the altered things were exactly the parts that won the Oscars.
That at least is great news.
Yeah, I'm painfully aware of all these issues but unfortunately, I probably won't be able to fix the majority of them. I am actually going through v1.0 now myself, making a list of all the fixes I want to/might do (including those that I have already finished, just so I don't forget to put them in the edit). I'm ten minutes in and I've already got about 20 shots. But most of these I just want to try and see.

EDIT: Now, that worked out just great :-/
How could you possibly know that ;-)
If you look closely, there are these vertical lines in dark areas
Nobody is arguing that he did, man ;-)
If we accepted that scenario, there is nothing to talk about.
Maybe it's Joker from the animated Batman ;-)
Yes, I agree, but you said they would be the same without Lucas, when in fact, they wouldn't exist at all without him, as he came with the idea for both. Spielberg would never have made Raiders, if George hadn't come up with the idea.
Sorry, but that's a really stupid statement, STAR WARS and Raiders would not be the great films they are if GL was never involved, because they would not be. Period.
Ooops, I hope it wasn't a secret DJ?
On some level, sure. On many other levels, it would just piss me off even more :-/
Actually, including this one, you've made 31 posts so far ;-)
Technical problems apparently. But the way I understand it, it was because they tried to copy it photochemically. I'm sure a digital scan would be quite possible.
I can't really use any of the footage but it sure is nice to see it. And it has the whole Greedo scene too, with the subtitles.
What a f*cking hypocrite! How can he say what he says in that Film Foundation video and live with himself. I mean, we always knew he said stuff like that but that was in 1989, so you could think that at the time he wanted to do a proper preservation for the 20th anniversary but then got tempted by making changes and changed his mind about film preservation but look at the guy, that video seems to have been shot in the last few years.
Maybe we should start a new petition, this time for having him thrown off the board of directors of Film Foundation! FB could be a good place to start. This is seriously sick.
Well, I would feel really stupid asking someone bluntly like that, I already feel stupid even considering small donations. If I'd decide to accept something though, I would definitely feel much better accepting a material donation to a monetary one.
And people seem to be expecting 1080p, if I got better hardware, but that's unlikely, I'd probably stick to 720p because of the sources I have for the unaltered scenes. The thing is that now, I can't work with or output uncompressed video, so the resulting video is considerably worse than the source material. If I used the Blu-Rays (and with none's difference overlay project, I'm quite confident that we can find all the BD changes in a short time, which is what made me even consider using them) and worked with uncompressed all the way through the process, there should be very little to no compression artefacts. Someone on some other forum said that they had a Blade Runner 720p rip that was 2,5GB and it looked better than my 8GB DeEd, which is very well possible.

You know what, I actually tried your work and effort and I didn't like it. It was blurry and I have the original GOUT DVD and it's not as bad as your work. Even if your work was a good job I would avoid it with the way you are acting. You are acting like Lucas, like a jerk and I don't want to watch your work.
So not relevant in any way.
OK, enough (sorry Frink it's not that I don't agree with you there). I wanted to ask this in a PM but Moth3r's inbox seems to be full, so I'll have to ask here (and believe me, asking this hurts, I'm a big fan of the relaxed moderation here and hate how posts get deleted in other forums but this is getting too much):
I'm really quite upset about this whole situation. Would it be possible to remove/edit any further posts that concern this DJ conflict from my thread? I really don't want it to develop any further. Thank you.
