Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

OK, fixed the shots I wanted, so unless someone posts more comments tomorrow, I'll start rendering the lossless avi in the evening. That will take at least two days to render. Then I want to watch it, just to make sure everything is ok and if it is, I'll start encoding the video for the MKV. That will take a few days too but if all goes as planned, you could all be downloading this in a week :-)

OK, this time, there are so many that I won't reply to each separately. I'm just going to say this:

Like I already said, concerning the lasers, I already did all I could or rather was willing to do (I could of course go and load all those shots to AE and recolour each of the blasts separately but I'm not mad, folks) and all this was done after this WP. Also, I think the blasts in the 01:44:30:06 shot are some of the best looking ones in the scene and I had to watch it frame by frame and examine it closely to even see the blue glow you describe.

And I hate that I can't actually show you guys the IB reference pictures, so you'd see I'm not making this up to excuse my laziness (which undeniably plays a role in some cases too of course) but most of the green laser bolts in the IB references are much duller and bluer than you may think. The same goes for Ben's dark cloak during the duel and the pink blast frames throughout the whole film. It is actually interesting how many of the colour inconsistencies seen in the IB print were preserved in the 2004 colour timing. The changes in the darkness and tint of Ben's cloak during the duel for example match the IB print practically shot for shot, although they're actually a bit more extreme in the 2004 version. Another anomaly preserved in the 2004 colours is the green tie fighter described above. As to the Death  explosion, the colours are actually a bit less red in the IB print. The colours in the last video here are actually very acurate: http://petergaultney.smugmug.com/Movies/historic/Star-Wars-at-The-Senator/13089279_nXePV#!i=1495797105&k=kHq3bq9, check it for both the appearance of the 01:49:25 Falcon shot and the DS explosion.

So, in short, I might try and do something more about the Falcon leaving the DS bay shot and maybe some of the Vader's cockpit shots.

Anyway, guys, I was thinking; I'm still not very happy about the jaggies on the crawl - I even tried rendering it in 4K and they're still there. Couldn't running it through some anti aliasing script help? It doesn't really matter what it would do to the rest of the picture, I could just mask it out but I'd need step by step instructions on how to run the script.

So here are two files, one is the Leia shot encoded with UT Video YUV420 and the other with Lagarith YV12 - they both do the same thing as the WP in my MPC-HC; play with orange reds with default settings and correctly with optimal.

So I guess only RGB files don't play on optimal.

Also, I usually use the optimal setting, because many videos play with greyish blacks when I use the default settings.

Well then could someone check if this happens with the WP on their computers as well? What I'm thinking here is that maybe the problem isn't in the encoded videos but in the player settings, so maybe I could export in YUV after all and keep the file size down plus maybe cut back on rendering time of the MKV/BD video?

BTW, my MPC-HC won't play uncopressed AVI at all when I set it to Optimal Render Settings. What could be causing that?

Yeah, same goes for the Czech dub - in the original early 90s dub Greedo was dubbed into Czech and in the later 97SE dub he was subtitled. Now there a third brand new Czech dub on the BD, which apparently sucks ass because the actors they used don't sound anything like the original actors (Luke for example sounds like a 40 year old man and Han is dubbed by the same guy who dubbed Luke in the two previous dubs). Though the translation is probably much better.

Also, and I brought this up before but it didn't spark the discussion I was hoping for, for the Czech BD release, they changed the Czech title of ROTJ taking "the Jedi" to be plural, so it basically now translates as "The Return of the Jedi Order".

Here's another clip for you guys. These are two shots I did in the last two days, which I decided to redo from scratch. The first one (the "move along" Ronto shot) I redid because the quality of the area where I used ANH:R to remove the Ronto still bothered me and also the shape of the objects in the background wasn't quite accurate. The second one (Alderaan explosion) I redid because I found out that they changed the starfield in the SE but I think I managed to make the explosion look better too (or at least more accurately coloured).

@Fireproof: Maybe, I don't know yet :-)

@johnlocke: You don't need to re-encode the video. Use TS Muxer. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

@Puggo: This particular "flash" (it's more of a speck really) is present on the GOUT. I was just checking with PG to see if it wasn't just some GOUT blunder.
