Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

So, new info:

A) I have already chosen people for the following: myspleen, thepiratebay, mediafire, depositefile, newsgroups, google drive. The people who were picked will receive an email shortly.

There are still four spots left, so if you can share somewhere else than those six places mentioned above, I'm extending the offer.

B) I did find some problems, so there will be a slight delay but it shouldn't be more than one or two days and since I'll be waiting for h_h's mix, it shouldn't matter anyway.

Well, the AVI rendering is going as expected, so it could be done by about this time tomorrow. Then I want to watch it and start rendering the MKV, which will also take 2-3 days to render, so please try and get the new 5.1 ready by then. If you don't of course, I'll wait, but I'd rather not.

Also, I already got several emails about myspleen and very few about others, so please try something else if you want to join the share-sqad :-)

So, here's the deal; I will upload to uloz.to. Now, I think most of the problems people had downloading from uloz.to were caused by too many people attempting to download at the same time (I know for a fact that some people got the latest WP in under two hours from uloz.to and just yesterday, I downloaded 25GB over night from there without a paid account), so I figured out how to make sure there won't be:

Ten people who send me an email to jipph@email.cz with a promise that once they finish downloding from uloz.to, they'll immediatelly share it elswhere (by uploading to a filesharing site, newsgroups or setting up a torrent) will get the links two days ahead of everyone else. This will make sure that those people should be able to download really fast from uloz.to and that two days later, people should have a choice between 11 different places to downlaod from.

In the email's subject I want you to write:

A) The place you'll upload to (only one per email but you can send more emails with different places).

B) You OT.com user name

24 hours from now, I will devide the emails into groups by the first ten suggested upload placec and then choose one person from each at random.

Important things to consider before you apply:

Did you have serious trouble downlaoding from uloz.to?

Do you have at least fairly good upload speed?

Don't get me wrong, there will be a DVD9 version but it will be AVCHD. There will be a 720p BD25 a 720p DVD9 AVCHD and SD DVD5. We were talking standard def DVD here and since HD is the whole point of this project, I'm a little reluctant to make a DVD9 for SD.

Also, I'll start rendering soon and I just figured out a way to make the upload easier for me and in the long run, make the download easier for you. This is important, so I'll leave this pend for about an hour before I post the info:

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IN AN HOUR FROM THE TIME THIS POST IS SENT, I WILL POST INFORMATION ABOUT THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE EDIT. 10 PEOPLE WILL GET A CHANCE TO OBTAIN THE LINKS TO THE MKV TWO DAYS BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE BUT IT WILL BE AT A PRICE (NOT A FINANCIAL ONE MIND YOU!).

International Audio (including Voice-Over Translations)
Time

I always wanted those old Neff dubs, since they'd be quite an interesting curiosity. I'm too young to have seen the films this way but from what I understand, these translations were made during the communism (in the 80s) and certainly weren't official; mr. Neff was just doing these translations secretly from home and he didn't have the tech to make subtitles, so he just recorded the translation like you see it in the video and then bootleg VHS and Betamax were spread among people; for quite a while during communism, it was the only way for non-english-speaking Czechoslovaks to watch most American films. Star Wars didn't come out on VHS here until 1992 (a year after it came to cinemas here), so I expect that what you see in that video is someone having one of those something like 5th generation copy bootlegs from the 80s and   to get better picture quality than the copy they had, they re-recorded the film from German Sat1 (many people receive German TV stations here in West Bohemia) and added the narration (you can hear it's quite out of sync). Not that many people would have seen those dubs before the 90s either, because I only know one or two families who had a VCR before the 90s :-)

As to the other Czech video, that is the very same 1992 VHS Czech dub that is on my Despecialized Edition, just like this video I uploaded ages ago.

@Johnlocke: Yeah, it will have chapters from GOUT :-)

Anyway, here's a short sample of the new crawl compared to the one that appears in the WP:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/djjdyf

It was a lot of work but the improvement is quite big and I feel it was definitely worth it :-) Not only are the jaggies much better (they're still there but to about the same or lesser degree as the SE crawl) and the crawl is more accurately placed relative to the starfield :-)

Star Wars 1977 70mm sound mix recreation [stereo and 5.1 versions now available] (Released)
Time

LOL, that's exactly why I leave the audio side of my projects to others; I have a hard time hearing any difference there, especially when listening to a whole longer segment like that and then listening to it again from the other version. Not knowing, I would probably think that I'm listening to the same thing twice. When I play like three seconds of one and then three seconds of the other, I can hear that they're slightly different but not really that one is worse than the other. And I don't hear any swell of static when the DS explodes, in that part the only difference I could tell was that the "stanby" line sounded a lot clearer in 04. I understand that to some people it makes a huge difference but to me it really doesn't. (Damn, I could kill when someone talks like that about SD vs HD video or for that matter the picture side of the OOT vs SE :-D )

N1's restoration is actually the better source I meant. Depending on how good it looks, I'd either use it for nearly all the despecializations or just those where I was forced to use only GOUT upscales, like most battle of Yavin shots and such. But that's thinking way into the future anyway because I definitely won't be starting V3 unless I'm sure I can do it in 1080p and that'd definitely require new hardware.

Who knows, maybe in time I'll get a new computer and some better sources than GOUT will surface (and they just might) and I'll do a v3 in 1080p.

Anyway, I figured out a way to make the crawl look better but it involves a lot of work, including redoing the crawl in 4K, rendering at 4K and then resizing in photoshop in at least three steps, so I may have to postpone the rendering to tomorrow.
