No, at best it makes him Joseph Smith Jr. :-D

Depending on the size of your drive - if you it's large enough, you don't need to transcode but I'd recommend remuxing to mkv - it is more widely supported than m2ts. The surest way is of course to burn to DVD, which will then play in most BD players.
Well, tastelessness is a matter of taste, so it's hard to "prove" either way.
Because BD50s are expensive as f*ck and uploading and downloading 50GB is no joy either.
Well, less information on the left side I understand but how could there be more on the right side? And I guess the softness was introduced in the scaling - when you scale by a small amount, it usually causes some softness.
It would be interesting to do some PAL vs NTSC GOUT and THX LD comparisons - it's possible that they used the PAL master for the ROTJ release.
@Joral: I feel the same way about many of the changes, which is why I don't choose Ady's version as my go to version to watch but I also get why it gets the praise it does. It was an amazing technical achievement for a fanedit and it fixed a lot of things that were much more in need of fixing than some of the things that were done for the offcial SE. But most importantly, it has no ambition of becoming a replacement of the original version, it's simply a fun alternative.
@CatBus: I'll have to see how much space I need when I have all the tracks and if I need it, I'll let you know, thanks.
@dlvh: 1. No, it's not intentionally left in, it's intentionally added :-D
2. Not much I can do there.
Well, I wouldn't want the size of the audio files to be much larger than the '85 mix that was provided by CatBus, because already as it is, there won't be much space for the menu and all the extras.
Depending on how much space will be needed for the extras, I might actually only include the three '77 mixes in lossless.
That sounds pretty sweet h_h. Though I really hope you're not going to take too long with it, because like I said, I can't really start working on authoring the disc until I have all the audio files.
Wow, that looks almost too good to be true. Great job!
But did you notice the different framing (less information ot the left, more on the right)? I compared it to my GOUT DVD and the framing there seems to be different too. Does the PAL GOUT have different framing from the NTSC? And did the rescaling to PAL maybe make the aliasing worse? Because it seems incredible how much better it is in the Project Blu version compared to my PAL DVD. If the aliasing is the same on the NTSC DVD, you guys have pulled some real magic here!
@analog: The brightness and color of it were determined from the references.
re 3.0: Yes, if I did a v3.0, there would be no GOUT footage in it - it would be all 35mm.
Yeah, but in movement I don't think it would make a noticeable difference. The speeder on the other hand...
I really don't see much difference there, except the Technidisc shot being blurrier and less detailed on the speeder.

Are you sure your TV's brightness and contrast are calibrated properly? I have to turn my TV's brightness way up to see the line. This would also cause the grain in the logos to be more intrusive.
The flickering is there and I'm well aware of it and I don't know how or why it happened but it's only in a few shots (I can't recall any beyond those you mentioned) and would probably again be exaggerated by improperly set contrast.
I'll check my contrast and brightness later, but I don't think they're pumped up. My TV is known to suffer from rising black levels, so I wonder if that's an issue.
Well, black levels set too high would do exactly that.
Likely, but so far the only change is the Fox logo, so if it remains the only change, it would seem pointless but I'm sure that now that the box is opened, there will be more changes to follow; and in that case I'm gonna do a v2.5 AVCHD as well.
OK, I looked into why the (R) in the Fox logo appears first and found that while it is part of the original Fox logo's compositing, it doesn't appear that way in SW, because the fade in and fade out were re-timed in Star Wars to make room for the Lucas film logo while the fanfare is still playing, so I went to my AE Project file for the first quarter of the movie and fixed this.
This means that I'm officially announcing that the BD version will be v2.5.
That's very nice but that doesn't really help with the issue - the files there are already unrared and even if they weren't, I'll get banned from my internet connection within seconds if I as much as start a torrent program.

EDIT: I don't see any flickering in the trash compactor scene, except for the red lit faces in two or three short shots (and that's a different issue from what Erik mentioned and is caused by using only the red channel for luma in the darkest areas). The rest is just grain.
Oh, yeah, those are definitely v1.0 credits. You should get v2.1.
Unfortunately, I don't have the original rar files any more, so I can't just reupload the file.
Any chance anyone still got the rar files from when they downloaded TESB?
Yeah, I had to use the GOUT for the entire bottom section of that shot, because of the camera pan added in the SE. I'm just fascinated by the stuff people notice sometimes. It's only there for like one second before the stormtrooper turns around.
Edit: I just checked and I was quite surprised that that area actually is brighter even on the IB Print.
I'm using a 27" 1080p monitor.
You can of course watch this any way you choose :-) But 720p video around 2GB, is only marginally better than DVD in terms of detail - most of the detail gets scrubbed away by the compression. I used to watch those kinds of rips too but now I can spot compression artefacts too easily (I can now even clearly see the difference for example between a 12GB 1080p and a 20GB 1080p) - they both look nice but 12GB will look much worse in comparison. And especially on a pretty grainy source like this. And that is only on my 27" screen - anything bigger would of course make the difference even more obvious. Unless of course handbrake is using some kind of futuristic compression algorithms. Could you maybe post a few screenshots from your encode from some of the darker scenes and maybe the first shot of the sunset?
@Pheran: Yes, there will be an all new cover-art to go with the BD release.
As to promotion, other forums are fine :-)
