Well, I guess there are worse ways for a rapscallion such as himself to spend a juicy bounty than hanging around a mob boss' hacienda, banging all the dancer party galls. And as to why he doesn't stay out of the fight and flies into a goofy death - well, I guess he doesn't believe this jedi guy to be all that big of a deal and simply wants to protect his investments by protecting one of his best-paying employers. And he is going to a public execution, which is undoubtedly a fun event for folks such as himself, aboard a luxurious pleasure barge, so he probably had a few drinks, maybe snorted some space-coke, so it makes him a bit overconfident and it doesn't exactly help with his jet pack driving abilities :-D

The work on the extras is progressing rather nicely and there isn't much left to do on the movie itself. On the other hand it'll still take a while to render it all and then I still need to figure out the BD authoring, plus school work is starting to pile up, so I don't dare guess when it'll all be done. I could try giving you an estimate of course, but behold and laugh:

It's going relatively slowly since I have to colour correct from scratch, so my most optimistic estimate would be two weeks.

Yeah, I feel the same way, like the more people talk about it, the more they draw attention to it. I do agree though owning a legal copy of the most recent release (whether it was the source or not) somewhat justifies it morally and that's why I always put a request that people do so in the NFOs, but I always feel uncomfortable discussing it any further.

No. Those pictures are way too dark (it is way brighter on the IB print) and I already added some grain to it. I'm not gonna grain it up like crazy, because then I'd have to go and add loads of grain to all composites - and I'm working with a scan (albeit a bad one) of the original negative here, not a print.

I very much agree - Hayden didn't do a horrible job - I don't think Marlon Brando could say shit like "I can't breathe. I'm haunted by the kiss that you should never have given me. My heart is beating... hoping that kiss will not become a scar. You are in my very soul, tormenting me... what can I do? I will do anything you ask. If you are suffering as much as I am, please tell me," and not look retarded.

As to the Machete Order though, I think it's a pretty good idea for repeat viewing (if you're willing to torment yourself with eps 2 and 3 that is), because it puts the story into a new perspective.

Does that mean there's a GOUT-synced version of the Blu-ray floating about or is that just plain silly?

If you're getting this from the phrase "re-timed the Blu-Ray", then it is indeed silly :-) Because it means re-timed the colors of the Blu-Ray. But basically, the DeEd is a GOUT synced version of the BD, only with most of the changes removed.

What did you do for 1.0, Harmy?

EDIT: First post says you used color-boosted GOUT then too, so what do you plan to do differently this time?

Well, this time, I have the BD as a source, so the higher bit rate allows more space for adjustment. Plus I have more skill and better tools this time around, so in terms of color, I basically plan to do the same thing as in v1.0 but with better execution. Same goes for ROTJ.

@Poita: That would be great. Too bad you can't get it scanned.

Thanks Puggo. I think I'll do the preliminary CC based on color boosted GOUT and probably make some judgment calls of my own and then in the more detailed 2nd pass I'm see how it compares to the other sources and maybe make some adjustments based on that.

And I guess that the fact that the print isn't faded doesn't necessarily mean that it is a perfect representation of what the official 35mm and 70mm prints would have looked like, does it? Because I AFAIK it's a pirate copy, so it probably wasn't copied under lab conditions on perfectly calibrated equipment, right?

Just for fun, here's a v2.5 version of the Despecialized Edition logo sequence for the BD extras:

Bravo! It's fun.

Question: "The poster art" if you will as seen here: Is there any chance of getting a PSD of those? Or knowing where the sources came from? I've been thinking of adapting that artwork (with your permission of course) and mocking up a physical box to house the BD cases and really show them off. I would obviously share them with everyone here...

It was from SW lunchbox the someone turned into a cover. Here are all the file I could find on my disc; the original luchbox scans and the PSDs for my title pics :-)
