Idea & Info: Adywan's Star Wars Revisited in other languages

You could actually sync the foreign languages up to ANH:R and just release them as a AC3. It is easy to replace just the main audio track with a different language and keep the whole structure of the DVD, with all the menus and extras intact. That way there won't be loads of different versions out there.  But you need to remember that i added a lot of extra things into ANH:R and the new sound effects need to be in there or it will look very strange especially during the battle of Yavin. You'll see all these extra ships and lasers etc but there would be no sound.

Yes, I alreasy did it, thanks to the programs you uploaded on rapidshare. I used the ADigitalMan's tutorial, and made the 5.1 audio track to 6 mono track. The 98% of the voice is in the center, so I replaced it to the stereo track. Sadly there is just VHSRip audio aviable. So all the sound effect remained, but when the voice echoing, that remained. As shows the example video. Anyway, this is the best aviable video and audio quality aviable from the movie.

As someone from an country where dubbing movies is very common. (Germany) I think its a great Idea. Some countrys don't have this tradition. I think there are just few movies dubbed in dutch.

But real dubbing is better than voice-overs :)

Did you even alter the scrolling text?

Yes, there are some wery good actors working in the country, some actors example Bruce Willis's voice is far more better, I can't imagine seeing the Die Hard in english.

I'm remembering a quote here:  "Charlie Chaplin once entered a Charlie Chaplin look-alike contest in Monte Carlo and came in third; that's a story."

The scrolling text is narrated, it really gives a ferry tale feeling for the New Hope.

I have no need for it but rather than copying the whole disk and replacing audio tracks why not just release the various dubs as MP3 files that people can play while watching their existing SW:R disc?

Don't really makes sense what you said, but the disc is 100% identical to the original dvd9 PAL, just added a new audio track. It was lot of work cutting the audio and match to the 5.1 track, beacause there only exist ind dolby stereo, and that was ripped off from the VHS I think. So in my country the revisited edition the best sound and picture quality of star wars that is aviable. I done this to ordinary people, with ordinary dvd players, don't think it has to be use the dub in english speaking countrys. And the dub is is in 5.1 ac3, mp3 is crap, i think.

While I was done with the non english dub for adywan’s revisited I was wondering, had anyone the idea doing this. I mean if you was a kid and experienced the movie in a certain way didn’t you wanted to recreate the experience? Some people didn’t like dubbing beacouse it ruins the original feel of the movie. But some work is so high in quality that you cannot imagine someone else to that character, who voice acted. I not created this just for to salute adywan’s work, but the actresess and actors who made this movie that is. What do you think about it?

Yeah, Leader, you don't have to explane now everything, just say, is it Star Warsy or not. :D

@Vaderios: yeah, I get now the point, I'm not dumb, but english is not my motherlanguage. Sorry for that. And for the differencesfor the pictures, didn't different people worked to that scene? As I recall, there is a cut between, when Dooku jumps from the balcony. Don't seems than the visual artists work togeather in Lucasarts... :(

What is the difference? I can't remember.

The painfully mistake was in the RotS was the Grevious character. He's military knowlege ended with "fire all cannons!" Really, this was the military mastermind for the separatists? I laughed off the situaton. Then I cryed of course. :D

here are the tools and instructions i posted on how to replace the main audio track for my TPM theatrical edit. It's basically the same method to replace the audio for any DVD and you can keep all the menus and extras

I remember (when reading through this 600+ pages thread), that there was a discussion about if Ady was gonna have both a PAL and NTSC version of ESB:R and if there was gonna be a purist edition like he did for ANH:R. And he said that (at the time) he was simply going to release a 720p AVCHD version of ESB:R.

That's why I thought there wasn't going to be a DVD version.

No, i said there would be no purist version of ESB:R. I stated that there would be a AVCHD 720p DL-DVD, a NTSC & PAL DVD-9 & 5 and there will be a bonus disc on DVD-5 with all the extras. The DVD-9's will have the extra audio tracks if i can get hold of them and the AVCHD will have the option (& the tools to do it)  to mux the language of your choice if you don't want the default English 5.1 track

Woww, adywan, that would be great!I've done a 2.0 dub for revisited, and later I redo it 5.1. But sadly I couldn't keep the menus. I digged up tutorials from originaltrilogy and it was good to be see the revisited version in my language.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7tmZNvpr1U

Here is sample from the dub, and you can see, more than 2000 people was seen it, so if you put some manual, how to do it without loosing the menus and the extras, I would be happy.

When will people learn to stop dubbing movies, it's a disgrace and disrespectful to the original actors.

Some american films are better with dub in my country, in star wars they do an awesome job. For example the '89 Batman movie is way better dubbed Joker, than Nicholson (he is a good actor of course).

Redlettermedia has started putting up his AOTC review (same style so if that offended you before it will again).

But there are some interesting points there which may help fan editors.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfBhi6qqFLA

I'm convinced that the only way to salvage anything from the PT is to do a major reshuffle and remaking whole sections.

That would mean having to go beyond even the best fan edits so far.

Things that spring to mind are getting rid of the clone mystery and have Yoda inspect the troops instead of Obi-Wan with a mind to limiting their use. And have the Senate order their use on Geonosis over the heads of the protesting Jedi.

Have Anakin jump after the assassin droid instead of Obi-Wan.

Have no direct link between Zam Wesell and Jengo (or better still Boba Fett) so he is just taking out a rival and have Obi-Wan link him to Geonosis.

Have Padme more keen on Anakin and have her take risks against his instincts leading him into the romance after being convinced by her family that she actually has feelings for him.

Have some actual speeder crashes in the Coruscant chase scene to emphasis the danger including some serious near misses for the heroes.

Have Anakin dream of slaughtering the Sandpeople and feel guilt for just dreaming about revenge as a Jedi (this would make her feel sympathy for him instead of making her run a mile from the psycho).

Wery good rewiev, i love it. Bingowings, thats are wery good ideas, but you have to have: actors and actresses, money money and more money...

Btw, I always imagined the fall of anakin, that the jedi and the Republic is very burocratic, like in my country, there is law, but nobody cares of it. When the jedi don't rescue his mother, Anakin takes the case to his own hands. In the war they won likely by Anakins informations, that inteligence gathered the way like Jack Bauer did in 24. The jedi order then exile Anakin, but he turn to the dark side and returnes, and destroyes the Jedi order.

Strategy in that case would to be use superior numbers to box in the Falcon since Vader wanted them alive... While the fighter limit the Falcon's escape avenues, Star Destroyers move in to lock on with tractor beams to attempt to take the ship. In doing this however the Falcon's superior maneuverability index caused what is now referred to in Imperial Academy text holos as "The Incident at Anoat" in which two Star Destroyers collided into each other. XD

I would have use ion cannons in conjunction with turbolasers but that's me... However, since the Falcon was seconds away from the asteroid field I imagine (making excuses for...) that disabling engines as a ship enters an asteroid field would not be condusive for taking a ship alive as it would probably get smashed to bits by stray rocks.

I've always thinking of that, since I saw the New Hope, how the imperials wanted to catch the falcon. That's makes sense. thx

Angel, were those just filters, or something someone would have to do frame-by-frame to get the same results?

Not sure yet...

Im running more tests and pushing these even more further.

When i have answers and more examples i will let you know :D

EDIT: I can say that the only mask/rotoscope that i used was to keep the red lights in the clone troopers back helmets. Everything else came along nicely done :D

Edit2:

Its me or it feels more stormy now?

Alright part 3 (and final) of the "ROTS new timeline" videos...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wsr59ZpcPEc

I tried explaining everything I did in the description box...but ran out of room! So many changes! ;)

It's more watchable than its original. But what are those boxes around the actors? If you make this with a bit better cutting, and audio-video editing, it would be awesome. I had to use my imagination in some places. ;)

Wouldnt it be better, easier and more "symbolic", to have just the original shot of the star destroyer, darth vader going next to the emperor, and then looking simply at Coruscant, or maybe just a nice space background (echoing the ESB ending)?

I think JasonN went that way. He put Coruscant instead of the Death star..

I still want something better, dificultier and less symbolic as we have to see some of the beginning of the empire..

Yes, that's why I prefer the picture of the shipyards. It ties well the prequels with the OT. Maybe some Victory destroyers in the distance...

http://www.piett.org/images/vsd01.jpg like in this pics.

with early tie fighters like this: http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080526192421/starwars/images/d/da/TIEVanguard-CCG.png

A very astute analysis on how to pick apart Jedi... Yeah... darksabers suck. Both of them but even the Hutt Darksaber was a step up from this newest retcon travesty.

What a crap was that... I read accidentally when I was a kid. It was shocking...

However, it's the presentation NOW, that I have the most problems with... It's inconsistent, contradictory, and concepts to be done for profit rather than the integrity of the story or characters and so I don't buy those novels and/or games any longer. In fact I haven't bought anything that would profit LFL in a few years at least. I know the information yes, but mainly to keep tabs on how bad things have gotten cos once again I do care since there are still many things within SW I still appreciate and I feel a bit sadder over time when I hear the utterly horrible crap that LFL expects us to buy (literally and figuratively).

I don't like the Mandalorians either in the series, but the idea was good, how many years been pass since the Old Republic? 2000? In the Jedi civil war they mainly deafeted the mandalorians, then 300 years later the smugglers kicked their ass, it's a bit logical the Mandalorians evolved to a Pacifist nation. For example my country was a Kingdom with Knights etc., but nowdays we live in a Democracy, becouse things changed. Anyways the mandalorians in the series act like some barflys, not like elite warriors.

I don't hate Zahn's books, but I like my SW more about the movie characters, not just having them around to observe and comment Dr. Watson style about how awesome Zahn's new characters are. (Luke: "Gee Mara, thanks for killing C'Boath and clone-Luuuke for me. I sure hope someone takes care of Thrawn for us!")

I think it's an interesting POV to say LUCAS is the one all about money, when Zahn, Stackpole, Anderson, Traviss, and what not all became best-sellers writing in another creators toybox.

I think you entirely missed the story. There was drama between Mara and Luke, Mara had to kill Luke, beacouse that was the Emperor's last command (the book's title tells everything about the story). Luke was in love with Mara, and the solution would'n be easy. That was Zahn's geniue that she kills a clone Luke, then she was set free from the nightmares he lived in tha past years. See how lovable the characters are? You emotionally connect with them... well, if you have emotions. :P :) Waay better than the "Hey Obi, I will go kill the whole F***'in separatists becouse they try to leave the republic. I kill them, beacouse they have a different oppinion". The Separatists have no real motivation, maybe profit but in the clone wars series is about CGI. In the Zahn's book, the Emire wants back the controll of the galaxy not just to defeat the rebels, but protecting the Galaxy from a greater threat (I don't know what it is but it's mysterious, and exciting).

Yeah theres a lot of writers and books come out, but the guys like Timothy Zahn earned every single dollar he recevied.

And in the end, go see some realy good tv dramas, like 24, Third watch, or some good movies, like Leon, the proffessional. You'll see what I want to tell. Hmmm, trying to stay in topic. :D

i can't see a problem with that scene at all. the pod cars approach the Falcon and fire a warning shot because they didn't have clearance. they were placed either side of the falcon at this point. then they say that they have permission to land on platform 327 and move in front of the falcon.this becomes and escort formation, leading the Falcon to the platform. when you have a police escort(none criminal)  the car is always in front not surrounding the vehicle. the cars are just leading the falcon to its destination. They have been granted permission to land so there is no need for a hostile flying formation.

I wondered how Han found the landing pad... Now its clear.
