It used to be great, but then it went downhill fast.

Any specific examples? I haven’t really noticed much difference in my time there, but maybe you’ve been there longer.

Back when it started, it was an invite-only site (I guess kind of like MySpleen) and you had all these great reviewers like Adam Cook and Peaceful Stoner writing all these in-depth analysis. Then, it opened to the public, and now it’s filled with one-liners and pretty generic crap all over, that the quality content is buried.

I don’t really want to name names, but take for instance that brad pitt is now one of the most popular reviewers on the site, and that’s the caliber of content to expect on the front page. There’s also a lot of petty drama between all these “big” names rather than what it was initially, just a bunch of people sharing their love for the medium.

Story time one time i was
DMing a game in a store and it was about a 5 person group and there was this one person who would constantly judge every call i would make ,every dice roll i would tell them to make.
This is person is the rule lawyer. For example we were in a combat turn and the wizard in the group says i perform magic missile and i reply with you will need to roll one d4 and mr rule lawyer says no we have to check the players hand book we spent 15 minutes looking thorough the players hand book and i was right.
Moral of the story please don’t be a rule lawyer

Ugh, I’m familiar with that type of player. Agreed. Don’t be that player.

You guys sure are giving hand man s*** for trying to improve his own outlook on things.

I applaud anyone taking concrete steps to solve their own problems.

I support his decision and recently did the same by ceasing my laptop use. Now I spend only about forty minutes on the internet at most each day and am trying to cut that down too. I think I’m doing better because of it.

This is what I like to hear.

I’m not giving him shit, I’m suggesting an alternate and less-drastic solution.

If that’s what he needs though then good on him.

I’ve been annoyed with this piece of shit since day one. Touchscreens are a pain in the ass and the battery barely lasts half an afternoon. That and I just hate seeing other people using them made this seem like the most logical choice. I’ve said I was going to go back to my Razr for years, even on this forum. I’m glad I finally did.

I finally got rid of my smartphone. What a relief.

Why is that a good thing?

Smartphones are annoying and prolonged use of them is linked to negative emotional states.

I think you’re talking about social media. How is having a smartphone linked to negative emotions?

"Twenge’s research found that teens who spend five or more hours per day on their devices are 71 percent more likely to have one risk factor for suicide. And that’s regardless of the content consumed. Whether teens are watching cat videos or looking at something more serious, the amount of screen time — not the specific content — goes hand in hand with the higher instances of depression. "
