What's the best order to use when watching the Star Wars saga?

For someone who has never seen SW (or for someone who has, for that matter), I can't imagine a 6-movie marathon.  That would be exhauting to the point of torture.  I remember back in about 1985 when a local theater did the 3 movie marathon (4,5,6), and that alone is 9 hours and by partway through the 3rd movie I was mentally done and so was just about everyone else in the theater.  You're talking 18 straight hours which is borderline unhealthy.

If you mean a 2 or 3 night "marathon", I still think 456123 is the most logical sequence, because it is the order they came out in theaters.  No reveals are spoiled, and the progression of movie-making techniques and styles would be less jarring.

Is not literally a marathon, it will be a 3 night split, 2 per night.

I wouldn't nitpick your grammar if "literally" wasn't such an abused word, but a literal marathon would be a long distance run of however long it is. You could use "really" or "actually" instead (e.g. "It won't actually be a marathon") since those words aren't as strong as "literally," and can allow for a figurative meaning (now I'm going to have people nitpicking over the definitions of "really" and "actually" :P).

Carry on....

 You just got Frink'd.

It looks like R2's original holo projector was black and the new one is silver/metallic.

But I know someone (he's building one at the mo) who knows the guys who JJ talked to about the new R2 and I promise they know their stuff.

I like that R2 doesn't look exactly the same as he did 30 years ago. It makes it seem like he's seen a bit of action since we've last seen him. Maybe the holo projector went bad during that time and was replaced?

Do the Star Wars movies contain evidence that Lucas makes it up as he goes?

The fact that Lucas decided at the last minute to kill off Obi-Wan Kenobi when he was making Star Wars gives you a window into the way he writes.

Wasn't that actually Marcia's idea to kill off Ben?

Yes, that was her idea to kill Obi-Wan in order to raise the stakes.

She influenced Lucas in many positive ways. Here's a quote from Hamill:

You can see a huge difference in the films that he [Lucas] does now and the films that he did when he was married. I know for a fact that Marcia Lucas was responsible for convincing him to keep that little 'kiss for luck' before Carrie [Fisher] and I swing across the chasm in the first film: 'Oh, I don't like it, people laugh in the previews,' and she said, 'George, they're laughing because it's so sweet and unexpected'-- and her influence was such that if she wanted to keep it, it was in. When the little mouse robot comes up when Harrison and I are delivering Chewbacca to the prison and he roars at it and it screams, sort of, and runs away, George wanted to cut that and Marcia insisted that he keep it.

Marcia was definitely one of many saving graces of Star Wars.  I wonder what kind film we would have gotten if she wasn't around to influence George.

One not worth talking about nearly 40 years later.

A fan droid builder group that didn't get it right would never live down the shame of screwing it up.

Anthony Daniels has said he asked for, and got a Threepio suit that's easier for him to wear, and outwardly is identical to the original costumes. We've already seen a pic of Chewie that avoided the mistakes made with the Episode III suit, so why worry? :)

What was wrong with the Ep. III suit? I don't remember any issues, but it's been so long since I've seen it...

Harmy's RETURN OF THE JEDI Despecialized Edition HD - V3.1

I'm downloading the whole Harmy's trilogy and I have a couple of questions:

1- Just wondering on why ROTJ is AVCHD while the other 2 movies are mkv? any reasons on why this? I don't know much of video formats so I'm just curious since this one is almost 8 GB and the other two have 10 gb more. I'm not compaining on the quality at all :)

2- What is the best way to burn this into a DVD/BD? I want to be able to play it on rgular DVD/BD players.

As for your first question, ROTJ is on version 1.0. Harmy is currently working on a 2.0, and this will be more comparable to his SW (v.2.5) and ESB (v.2.0) releases. This new version will be available on MKV, and I would recommend holding off on burning ROTJ until then.

Do you guys think it would be possible for an Ep. VII teaser to appear for Disney's new animated movie coming out later this year? I do.

Big Hero 6? That comes out on Nov. 7, whereas this rumor has JW finishing the music on Nov. 15.

 Well, there goes that theory.

Thanks Harmy, we will look at the other prints, but the 2nd one should be about the same quality, its just a color shift possibly.

You haven't asked for any scenes that are at the beginning or tails of the reels, because those need work in cleaning them. The rest of the film is relatively clean. You shouldn't have to much trouble in integrating them, although the grain needs to be matched, and the colors corrected.

Team Negative1

I'm getting goose bumps just reading this.

I hate to be that guy, but is using VLC an option?

I don't know why there's a big difference, but it worked perfectly! Thanks, AntcuFaalb.

Although, it looks a little different... I think I'll get used to it, but I have no idea why it does.

Well, VLC does all decoding itself. It doesn't rely on any third-party (relative to VLC) codecs. MPC, IIRC, relies on what's installed on your system which may or may not work correctly.

With that being said, how does it look different in VLC? Can you provide a more detailed explanation?

One possibility is a difference in H.264 post-processing.

It looks a bit grainier and blurrier. However, this may be nothing more than confirmation bias. I appreciate your help in explaining this to me.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but I'm having trouble jumping to other chapters in the AVCHD version. Each time I try, the video stream stops, although the audio continues to play.

Additionally, whenever I try to change the audio from the default, it freezes.

I am using Media Player Classic, by the way.

Please, could someone help me out? I'd like to show this to a class sometime this week, some of whom have never seen Star Wars. I'd like to show them the very best there is to offer. Thank you in advance.
