The Google Play Store, Amazon, I dunno.
I don’t know about you guys, but I thought the casting on ST '09 was terrible. New-Kirk and New-Spork are okay, but I don’t think any other character was cast well. Regardless of looking like the original actors, none of them were even close to the original characters. Not to mention that I only find Kirk and Spock better because they vaguely resemble the original actors enough to be passable.
? Karl Urban as Bones is by far the best cast of the lot.
I also think Scotty was passable. Spock was good but still looks so young (I guess smoking has something to do with that) and the material given to him wasn’t true to character. Everyone else I’m entirely neutral to, I don’t think any of them were particularly bad. If anything, the script is more to blame for those movies than the cast. Star Trek Continues remains truer to the Star Trek I know.
Anyway, isn’t there a Star Trek thread in Off Topic someplace?
It’s not arrogance if it’s true. 😛
Thoughts?
I think most of the people on this site don’t really fit in with the current Star Wars fanbase as a whole. A lot of them go into EU stuff and I can’t even have a discussion without prequel nonsense being brought up. It’s hard.
The weight of the the available evidence suggests that his thesis is sound.
What evidence?
I think that’s his point. We really don’t know anything for sure until an official statement is made. So far, we have nothing but 4 years of silence.
MySpleen can’t handle all this traffic!
Look, I usually don’t resort to ad hominem attacks, but are you intentionally trying to sound retarded?
Oh you lovely human being.
Deflecting because you can’t answer my question, noice.
It’s a nonsense question, retard.
EVERYONE USING “RETARD” AS A PEJORATIVE SHUT THE FUCK UP.
Seriously.
I was just giving back to him what he was dishing out, you don’t have to get upset about it.
Congratulations.
If he called you an n-word, or an f-word, would you call him that back?
JEDIT: Don’t answer that. I used to like you.
We have differing viewpoints here, it doesn’t have to ruin your whole opinion on me, Frink. 😛

Being a pretentious ass isn’t helping you. You can’t be objective with subjective material, to quote you, that’s “retarded”.
And thinking you’re enlightened by claiming “everything is subjective” just makes you look ridiculous.
And thinking you’re enlightened by claiming your opinion is objective is even more so.

“You don’t need “scientific fact” to prove that a real tree looks more real than a cartoon one.”
“Real =/= better.”
I’m sorry, what were you saying?
Man, this thread spans the entire history of this site. Lots of old posters you never see these days. Very strange to see threads from back in the day, it’s almost a completely different community.
Stop treating your opinion as objective fact or you’re gonna have a rough time.
He doesn’t look nearly as different between '04 ESB and ROTJ as he does between ROTS and ROTJ.
'04 ESB literally uses the same makeup as ROTS, so I’m not sure what you’re getting at there.
Wasn’t it even recorded on set during the filming of ROTS?
Yep.
He doesn’t look nearly as different between '04 ESB and ROTJ as he does between ROTS and ROTJ.

His appearance changes in pretty much every film he’s in so it isn’t really too unbelievable that he would look different from '04 ESB to ROTJ.
There’s something of a 40 year jump between ROTS and ROTJ, and something of a few months to a few years between ESB and ROTJ, a jump like that is really odd.
At the end of the day you have to remember that the SE from '04 onwards was altered to be more familiar with the PT (like it or not, that’s not really relevant), so it makes sense to an extent to give the Emperor more of a ROTS look.
Though the first part of this statement is true, the second part is an incongruity.
Personally I think it’s a decent hybrid between ROTS and ROTJ and while the original may be more interesting, that doesn’t make the quality better.
Wouldn’t creating more interest in the audience lend the film to having a better quality than one that does not create that interest? This doesn’t make sense.
Nostalgia is obviously a very big factor, but while someone may personally prefer the aesthetic of model ship battles in ANH, it’s not really subjective that the ones in ROTS look objectively better, which they should, almost 30 years later.
Looks are purely subjective, there’s no objectivity about it.
What was this post?
Return of the Jedi had a blue tint inherent to the film, which I believe your algorithm removes entirely. That wouldn’t be proper, right? Someone feel free to correct me on this.
No, this print had a blue tint, that Harmy corrected to the point that the film is watchable. I just noticed a pretty strong green tint during the space sequences.
Ah, alright then. I could have sworn that there was a change of film stock between Empire and Jedi that had caused a blanket blue tint on every print. Though as you say, you’ve removed a green tint, so I suppose that’s irrelevant.
I think Adywan gave us the best of both worlds. Shame he could do it better than the professionals.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNnYpODghl4Never watched Adywan’s versions. This is more or less what I said above, though I wish the skin were darkened/greener/yellower as it was both in the original ESB and in ROTJ.
The dialogue there has been edited to match the original, and the Emperor looks as he does in ROTJ, as he has been lifted straight from it, so what you’ve said above does not quite apply. It’s definitely a step in the right direction compared to the 04 SE.

I wouldn’t buy this release. There’s too much that’s wrong with it for me to be satisfied with the removal of any one change. I’d have to go with the addition of Jabba into the first film as being the most egregious change, so that would go.
Ryan-SWI said:
I think the ESB SE ('97) is a tad better than the theatrical though, minus some wonky CGI.I’m kind of with you on this, but even if the 97 was perfect, I would prefer the original. The only issues I have with it content wise are Luke’s scream and removing “Bring my shuttle” and its associated hoopla.
Better how? Like by going through the trouble to supposedly make the emperor consistent with ROTJ yet actually make him look and dress utterly differently with a voice distinctly different from that in ROTJ? If they felt compelled to “fix” that they should have put in the effort to make it consistent with ROTJ instead of just using ROTS costumes and makeup.
That was not in the 1997 Special Edition.
Now there are two of them!

Return of the Jedi is pretty cool too. 😛
