Batman VS Superman? no contest. Superman takes out Batman with one punch. Unless of course Batman had some Green Krytonite on him.
But Batman is smart. Would he even allow Superman to get close enough to lay that one punch on him? I'm pretty sure that before any face-off, Batman would be well prepared. The example of him planting a bomb on himself and then telling Superman that he has planted a bomb on a citizen of Gothem and if Superman lays a finger on him the bomb will explode shows how smart batman is. I'm also pretty sure Bats would arm himself with some kryptinite if he knew a fight with Superman was imminetn, and I'm sure with Bruce Wayne's contacts, intelligence and finances he would have no trouble getting hold of kryptonite. But yeah Warbs, no doubt about it that in a straight man on man fight, Supes would kill bats in half a second.

Man, I love these 'who would beat who in a fight' discussions

In that case, who wants to start a Superman VS. Captain Marvel (Power of SHAZAM version) discussion?

For my money, those posters are way cooler than any of todays posters. Todays posters are just so... photoshopped. They don't project anything remotely epic or awe inspiring.
My thoughts EXACTLY - A bunch of heads photoshopped together. Posters of the 70s and 80s were so much better.

Why is Flash so muscly in that photo? Does the power of super-speed have some effect on his physique? I'm not criticising, just asking - I never read flash, but I am familiar with the origin story and I thought he was just a normal guy who got splashed by some chemicals and became super-fast.

It's just kind of the rule with sueprheroes - they all look body builders and athletes. It's always been that way. Even back in 1938 when comic book art was kinda crude Superman was always drawn to look bigger and buffer and brawnier than the mere mortals who surrounded and/or made the mistake of opposing him. It's the same with a guy who isn't necessarily a strenght oriented character like the Flash or the Green Lantern (any of them). Even Spider-Man, by far one of the smaller heroes, is drawn to look like he hits the weight room regularly.

I caught glimpses of what I called the 'black Batman', and I wanted in. But unfortunately my mother would never let me watch it with my friends because she deemed it too dark and violent (she was probably right). She was reasonable, though - she recorded it off TV for me and let me watch it when I was about 9.

Incidentally (or perhaps not-so-incidentally, given my Batman obsession), I rented out and watched Batman Begins. Again. For the 50 gazillionth time. Still good.

I'm glad you approve. For my money, those posters are way cooler than any of todays posters. Todays posters are just so... photoshopped. They don't project anything remotely epic or awe inspiring.

Speaking of Batman Begins, I hear that one of the screenwriters for it, David S. Goyer I believe, is working on a screenplay for a film adaptation of the Flash, and that actor Ryan Reynolds has expressed great interest in the role of the Flash.

Here's hoping they get it done and done right.

Sharon Stone wants to direct "Basic Instinct 3"
Time
Brought to you by IMDB http://www.imdb.com/news/wenn/2006-04-06/

Stone to Direct 'Basic Instinct 3'?
Sharon Stone will direct Basic Instinct 3 in Britain, the actress has revealed. The blonde star is keen to continue the franchise - following her return as Catherine Tramell in the recently released sequel - but wants to step behind the camera next time around. Stone, 48, says, "There's a script for the next part of the story - but I would like to direct it rather than star in it. "It will be filmed in the UK again as the setting is more intense and gritty."

How she's going to get away with a BI 3 when BI 2 is flopping is a mystery to me.

redbaron, nice quote there.

I read superman for all seasons a while back when it first came out, thats at the time that i was partially drawn back into the comic scene. Id probably get into it now if i could afford it. From what i remember it was good. I read the novelization of Death and life of Superman and that spurred me to get the comic (i got the tpb i think their called, all the comics put together in one book) good read.

anyone remember this re-invention of superman

from what i remember he didnt take with fans too well and they scrapped him.

Yeah, the famous (or should I say 'infamous'?!) 'Electric Blue Superman'. His powers had become electric in nature - I forgot how, but I'm sure I'll find out one day.

And HSVIJ, I think you misinterpreted something I said to HotRod before - a 'Pom' is an Englishman - so what I was really asking was "what's with all you miserable Englishmen?" Not to disparage any possible misery you might be encountering in the U.S...

My bad.

Looks like Clive Owen.

Simpsons movie... definitely not a good idea.

RedBaron... I like being an American, but unfortunately we're living in an age where it's just not "cool" to be an American. Sad, but true.

Anyhow, the only thing so far of this Superman Returns nonsense that I've seen that I like is the casting of Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor. I'm not a die hard Spacey fan, but I think he could be a good Luthor as long as he plays it straight and not as a campy, slumming stand up comic (i.e., the Hackman approach).

Raimi hasn't let me down. But bringing Gwen Stacy in at this time is bad mojo. It doesn't look like they have any plans of wrapping this up. I thought it was a trilogy - to end with III. Looks like money wins again, and I'm afraid the franchise will suffer for it.

I remember reading that Sony wanted to expand it to be six films instead of just three. Talk about overkill.
