Ohh, interesting.
Man, you are so clever with all of these ideas.

I’ve been such a Klaud this evening. Yes, that second video is perfect for that. I have been ducking in between guerrilla cleaning my house and didn’t ever click on the second one.
And I love the cover artwork, thanks to you guys for working together on it.
We’re gonna get this thing there!
I hope he has. I’ll choose to believe so.
Don’t need deets on your love life but I’ll look forward to the eventuality. 😃
I think the sounds most in need is just static crackling like when it’s being held still. I won’t replace the other swishing sounds or anything like that. Just overlaying the crackle at times without overdoing it since her saber isn’t as fractured as Kylo’s.
I have some, but does anyone have a good set of various foley sounds for Kylo’s crackly saber?
That’s all right. I’m not in a hurry to release a final product and would rather wait until things are right than to have to do a V2 sometime later. And I doubt your piece will be the final bit to wait for anyway.
I will decide on an approximate audio level baseline for the effect, being less than Kylo’s. It doesn’t need to be loud. And I’ll try to approximate how the audio effect behaves for Kylo’s saber. Or it may work better to only really hear it when the saber is on and things are quiet. I imagine underdoing it rather than overdoing it.
Like with more tongue?
I don’t see why they would, and I wouldn’t expect the movie to have characters explicitly acknowledge it.
I saw everyone talking about making Rey’s lightsaber have a crackly blade. I’m a hobbyist, so not professional work but definitely a neat concept. Super early draft.

pw: faneditEdit: Also, if anyone is interested I found this picture of a planetary view of Ajan Kloss from BFII, added a letterbox to it… someone could add the Falcon to it or something, maybe when Finn, Poe and Chewie come back after Leia dies? Here is the link if needed.

Part 2 of this too
lol. I’ll wait for kewlfish or anyone to confirm if they intend to do that effect for the whole movie before I do any audio stuff for it, though!
And I assume a full quality source will be worked from, too.
Works for me, if kewlfish or anyone else wants to do the work visually.
I can listen to how Kylo’s saber audio works in the other two movies and add the effect more subtly throughout TROS.
Well hey, if you’d like to make that change for the whole movie, I’d implement it! There may be a shot or two that’ll need it from Dominic’s version of the desert fight scene.
I’ve only got my phone at the moment, but is that an audio only change?
I’m not sure I like the idea of Ben Solo taking up a still fizzly, unstable blade at the end climax, though.
And while it would take a lot more storage space that I have to host a true lossless export, I always put out a ~30GB version which is a lot more than most projects that are in turn used as source material. I can also make available the various pieces and files I have been sent that I used.
In all honesty, I don’t think adjusting by a frame’s worth that late into the movie would be worthwhile. When I did this, I often had to find the closest frame to align to, with a GOUT audio track as reference. Sometimes it wasn’t a perfect match and I had to go with whichever frame alignment produced a lesser echo.
If I added a frame at that point in ANH I would have to do something to contrive a frame’s worth of repeated audio anyway. It just doesn’t make sense and the end result would not be appreciably better for it.
If I were in charge of getting a mix ready to play in theaters with D+77, I’d feel confident in what I’ve already done.
No. For one thing, it would be a hell of a lot of work for somebody. and it is not necessary.
I don’t know if it’d be worth an alternate version; I know that can be a pain in the ass. lol
Natedug did the TLJ cover. I’d suggest PMing him. I’d do it but I’d just become a bottleneck middleman.
I think I like the first one best also. That’s very nice. I think it’ll fit wonderfully alongside the other two. I really appreciate the work!
Yeah? Well I hope he doesn’t!
😛
😃!
Oh, right. Yeah… I’m not sure how possible that even is. I’d like some deleted scenes with Palpatine pleeeease.
How so? They’re scene right after the Han scene?
Attempting to evaluate it fairly, which is difficult to do when the original version has been existentially threatened for over half its lifetime by the newer versions, the SE of ESB improves about as much as it worsens and is maybe the most frustrating for it. If I sit down with the SE or DVD of ANH of ROTJ you know you’re gonna have a bad time. With ESB it’s more subtle, more insidious.
I will say, though, that the materials with ESB let me put together a satisfying Custom SE, and the little niggles that remain are negligible. For ESB the 1997 SE was pretty good, with only a couple things to dislike. The DVD and onward add only garbage but remove the scream, so… ugh. But when I watch the original I miss many of the audio changes, especially a few parts where the musical score appeared to be fixed. But my GOUT-synced 1997 audio project scratches that itch for me.
ESB gives us the best shot at an ideal version through fan contrivance, so I’ll give it that.
If there were a ‘Forceback’ type scene somewhere I could see some of those lines fitting in. Given that I’d already scaled back the Palpatine voice from Mustafar (and removed introduction of him from the crawl), I don’t think adding more of him there would be helpful. I just don’t see a place for it anywhere, and the dialogue sounds pretty vapid in the first place. Like he’s not saying anything, like it was from a Taco Bell commercial or something rather than a speech about what he’s going to do or an announcement of his plans.
