I don’t mind them at all when they’re in the stables, I’m talking about when Rose and Finn are “riding” them.

Carrie Poppin’s

Can we not?

Precisely.

Although, I will say it did remind me that I dislike the CGI there too because they decided for some reason to try and make her look much younger and it really stands out. I mean, in the close up, why do it there? Just film her!

Is this a joke I’m not getting?

No…

I just watched that scene last night, so it’s definitely not a case of me not remembering. The close up on her when she’s floating in space (right before she wakes up) looks super fake. If it’s not fake I’d be astounded.

I think i saw the specific scene in the ‘The Director and the Jedi’ documentary for a brief moment. You can see Rian Johnson looking at a small screen showing Carrie Fisher in a close up. I guess it’s not fake but heavily digitally manipulated.

It would have made more sense to show him getting greyer as time went on, since it would then line up with Vader’s face too as they were both dark side users. Didn’t he look worse in AOTC than ROTS? It’s a redundant rebate I suppose.

He totally did.

AOTC

ROTS

I guess they were originally going for him to look more and more corrupted over time.

Never heard of the EMPEROR PALPATINE SURGICAL RECONSTRUCTION CENTER?

Rey’s marksmanship is a perfect example of the sexist bullshit that is the Mary Sue argument. Think how common it is in movies (not just Star Wars) that a guy picks up a gun for the first time and his aim and ability is never questioned. Yet they go out of their way to show that Rey isn’t perfect with a blaster but people call it out anyway.

Name some examples. I want examples where it is established that the character has never fired a gun before, and takes place in a story where a similar established character misses a lot, even though it shows that he already owns a gun.

Ellen Ripley isn’t an example.

f

Because you didn’t point out a scene which established that Ripley had never fired a gun prior to the first time we see her fire one, for starters.

How about her? She never used an axe before.

f

[Rose is about to cut Jack free with an axe]

Jack: Wait, wait, wait! Take a couple practice swings over there.

[Rose chops a hole in a cupboard door]

Jack: Good! Now try and hit the same mark again, Rose. You can do it!

[Rose chops again, missing the first hole by about 3 feet]

Jack: Okay, that’s enough practice.

I'm finally getting the OOT on vhs
Time

Here is another German VHS set. The artworks are okay i guess. There is always a round shape behind the centered character. The red planet (or sun?) on the Empire artwork supports Vaders samurai-ish look. The worst element is the font color. Red?! Why? And some of the actors faces look awkward. The best element are the adquate lightsabers on each of the specific movie boxes.

Are The Prequels That Bad?

And Luke and Leia being brother and sister is pretty ridiculous and gross.

But not as ridiculous and gross like this TPM exquisite dialogue:

Padme: "You’re a pilot?"
Little Ani: “Mmhm. All my life.”

A 9-year old boy tells us that he has been a pilot ALL-OF-HIS-LIFESPAN.
9 years old … and he talks about that pilot stuff like he is in his mid 50s.

Are retrospective changes just fan service?
Time

Topic question: Are retrospective changes just fan service?

Boba Fetts new appearance in ANH (him looking directly in the camera)
f

and his enhanced appearance in ROTJ (his ladiesman attitude)
f

could be filed as fan service.

Imagine Lucas thinking:
If i had known that you fans like this guy so much, i would have never killed him off. Sooooo, here he is! Just for you! I directed him to look right into the camera … well, basically he is looking at YOOOUUUU!

Disney to buy 20th (21st) Century Fox? (Disney has now bought them - 14 Dec '17)
Time

OT Fans: “If you want to release the unaltered OT, you need to talk to 20th Century Fox.”

Kennedy: “Why is that?”

OT Fans: “Because Fox still owns the rights to 1977’s original Star Wars. So you have to finalise an extraordinary complex agreement in which you…”

Disney: “We bought 20th Century Fox.”

[Everybody turns and stares at them. Disney just shrugs]

Disney: “It seemed neater.”
