Or just play Jedi Rocks over the Lucasfilm logo. At least that would be a slight improvement over what is there now

How about we then give the Lucasfilm logo a mouth and have it jump at the camera going "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

How about Jabba's burping during the Lucasfilm Logo?

Or ... oh wait ... Obi-Wan's Blu-ray Krayt Dragon Wohoooooooo?

Is the Hobbit prequel trilogy suffering the same problems as the Star Wars prequel Trilogy?
Time

Maybe we should collect similarities between the two trilogies (maybe Hobbit spoilers!):

Episode I / Hobbit AUJ:

- Contains an annoying character that is supposed to be funny: Jar Jar Binks / Radagast

Episode II / Hobbit DOS:

- Contains a forced awkward love story between two characters: Anakin & Padme / Kili & Tauriel

- Contains an exaggerated sequence towards the end of the movie that is supposed to beef up the action. Both were filmed against Blue Screen during additional Reshoots: Anakin and Padme inside the Droid Factory / Smaug VS Dwarfs inside the Forges of Erebor

Episode III / Hobbit BOTFA:

- One of the main villains dies within the first ten minutes of the movie: Count Dooku / Smaug

Your Favorite And Least Favorite Special Edition Changes

About those Dewbacks ... I'm still wondering: why would the Empire use such slow & clunky animals to perform a tactical planetwide SEARCH & RETRIEVE operation? Furthermore Stormtroopers must get serious spine problems after hours and hours riding a Dewback.

The Special Edition made me think about these questions since that version illustrated the Dewbacks movement.

On the other hand ... High Speed vehicles on a Forest Planet? Hmmmm ... ;-)

Do the Star Wars movies contain evidence that Lucas makes it up as he goes?

Wake up and smell the proverbial; none of this is new or revolutionary - even Tolkien went back and revised The Hobbit to fit in with The Lord Of The Rings.

Tolkien tried to revise the Hobbit to fit in with LOTR. But he stopped because he was worried that the Hobbit would loose it's original intention: being a fairy tale for children. And so he scrapped his plans of a Revised Hobbit.

The fact that Lucas decided at the last minute to kill off Obi-Wan Kenobi when he was making Star Wars gives you a window into the way he writes.

Wasn't that actually Marcia's idea to kill off Ben?

Yes, that was her idea to kill Obi-Wan in order to raise the stakes.

She influenced Lucas in many positive ways. Here's a quote from Hamill:

You can see a huge difference in the films that he [Lucas] does now and the films that he did when he was married. I know for a fact that Marcia Lucas was responsible for convincing him to keep that little 'kiss for luck' before Carrie [Fisher] and I swing across the chasm in the first film: 'Oh, I don't like it, people laugh in the previews,' and she said, 'George, they're laughing because it's so sweet and unexpected'-- and her influence was such that if she wanted to keep it, it was in. When the little mouse robot comes up when Harrison and I are delivering Chewbacca to the prison and he roars at it and it screams, sort of, and runs away, George wanted to cut that and Marcia insisted that he keep it.

There was a conveyor belt scene in AOTC? Seriously? Wow did that movie make no lasting impression.

Let me help me you: the stuff that happened inside the Droid Factory ... Anakin ... and Padme ... on the conveyor belt.

I'm sorry. I used the nomenclature from the official soundtrack ('On the Conveyor Belt').

Too many ... bad memories ... ... R2 ... ... flying.

Conveyor Belt Scene (Attack of the Clones) = Dwarf/Dragon Chase Scene inside Erebor (Desolation of Smaug)

Both scences were conceived after principal photography.

Both scences were shot in an almost complete blue screen enviroment.

Both scences were invented to 'beef up' the tension.

Both scences are absolutely boring and visually excessive.

You could say that George was doing the same thing with the PT, but I wanna say he is worse than Jackson because the LOTR is not being reedited   to fit in with the Hobbit trilogy.

You should listen to the audio commentary of the AUJ EE. At one point Peter Jackson and Philipa Boyens are discussing the possibility of a Six Movie Middle-Earth Box Set  AND ... ... that some shots of the opening scene from 'Fellowship' have to be replaced with Hobbit scenes (think Bilbo = remove Ian Holm, insert Martin Freeman) and that Thranduil could be digitally inserted into the battle scenes along with Elrond and Gil Galad.

History repeats itself. A director should never touch the same material a second time.

Somehow I have this distinct memory of one of the Jabba subtitles being too wide for this zoomed-in version, so they had to pan across the frame during the subtitles to make them all readable. Or was that on one of the VHS-releases?

On Sat1 the Jabba subtitles were equal cut of like the ones from Greedo:

Nope, just like I remembered:

Just noticed: take a look at Bib Fortuna ... looks like he's surprised about the appearing subtitle!
