I never understood the whole Deckard-is-a-replicant-nonsense. Does it make the story/movie better if he is a replicant?

My 1st impression of ROGUE ONE:

It is an entertaining movie. Solid, but nothing more. I wasn’t really emotionally invested in the characters and the story. TFA was much, much better. The Vader stuff was nice to see (especially his castle). CGI Tarkin looked interesting and almost convincing. CGI Leia looked awkward and stiff. The soundtrack was okay, but not memorable.

At least the movie is a nice gathering point for all Star Wars facets (OT, PT, Clone Wars, Rebels).

Das können wir alle 100% nachvollziehen, wenn die Weiterentwicklung der deutschen [Despecialized Editions] erst einmal ruhen wird. Anbei nochmal ein großes Lob & Dankeschön für die aktuellen Fassungen. Bevor ich dieses Forum fand, hätte ich nie damit gerechnet mal wieder die Worte KRIEG DER STERNE in einem Eröffnungsrolltext zu sehen.

Being critical about some (or much) aspects of Star Wars doesn’t make you less of a fan. It means you’re thinking. Use your own mind to find out what you like about Star Wars and the things you don’t like. In terms of Prequel Defenders, i noticed that a lot of those fans tend to constantly & robotically repeat quotes from George Lucas (“It’s his vision.”, “They are his movies.”, “He can do what ever he wants to do with them.”) to fortify their opinion. And i’m just thinking “Okay, this is Lucas’ mind-set about Star Wars … now please, tell me your OWN thoughts about Star Wars.”

Since i grew up in Germany i’m used to hear the Dianoga music. It’s basically imprinted in my mind so to say. And everytime i see the Trash Compactor scene without it, i feel something is missing. But that’s solely a subjective matter in my case 😉

Gladly Laserschwert reinserted the Dianoga music in his [Krieg der Sterne - Despecialized Edition 2.5].

Star Wars & Christmas? Well, there is one obvious thing 😉

Only in the early German versions? That’s mind-boggling. Too bad that this music piece is missing because it augments greatly the tension & atmosphere when the dianoga grabs Luke und pulls him unterwater.

Is there a ‘deliberate artistic reason’ that the Dianoga music is absent for quite some OT releases now? I don’t know for sure but I think it’s already missing since the mid-90s, the THX VHS release? So it’s probably not a solely problem of the Special Edition. Maybe someone here can give some insight on that issue.
