The costume almost looks too big on this chap. So an insert shot makes sense to me. Also note the Endor backdrop seems rather small. This could have been shot at ILM months after principal photgraphy wrapped.

Is he actually wearing the Vader costume? Looks he stood behind the costume-on-a-hatrack and just sticked his arms through.

Wow. Everyone is just giving up now aren’t they? I refuse to accept a world where a fan edit is the only way to watch the original versions.

I will not give up on the Original Trilogy. We’ve made too many compromises already; too many retreats. Lucas let Greedo shot first and we fall back. He inserts Hayden Christensen in Return of the Jedi and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn at the 40th anniversary of STAR WARS! This far, no further! And I will not buy another Special Edition release!

Wait, are you saying The Matrix DIDN’T invent the concept of a chosen one? Silly. That script has been floating around for ages.

Well, no, yes, no … i just have a theory that Lucas got his creative PT influence completely from Eddie Murphy movies.

The site makingstarwars.net posted a rumor about the release of the OOT for the 40th anniverary:

http://makingstarwars.net/2017/02/rumor-unaltered-original-star-wars-trilogy-re-released-year/

They state: “Several sources have let us know it was coming and it appears to actually be on the way this time.”

Considering makingstarwars.net has a track record for generally posting reliable rumors, should we be hopeful?

I wish the editor would mention his evidence and tips 😉

Yeah, I can’t watch the movie without that line in it. It’s my favorite gag in the film.

It, along with the stormtrooper bashing his head off the door only to later have the sound effect added.

Did they really do this?

I remember the first time I noticed that guy smack his helmed forehead, probably on approx. my 75th viewing of the film.
Ever since, I can’t see anything else.
God that actor musta felt like an asshole. It probably really hurt—he hits that shit pretty hard!

Yeah, the sound was added in for the 2004 DVD release to tie in with another gag that ties back into this one. In AotC, they made a callback to this by having Jango Fett bang his head on the door of Slave I. And so now the comedy is that Jango’s clumsy DNA got into the Stormtrooper vats! Har har har!

Yes, Lucas mentions that in the AOTC audio commentary at the very specific scene. Another one of these many things he thought that would be considered … funny.

If you want to find out what George Lucas was thinking when he made the PT

I think if George could have, he would have made the originals exactly like he made the prequels.

It shouldn’t be underestimated that Lucas’ creative judgement became heavily influenced by his fatherhood since the early eighties. Ewoks anyone? During the Phantom Menace production phase, his son Jett was at age of 4 to 6. Jett inspired him to create Jar Jar Binks’ name. Phantom Menace became so childish because he wanted that Jett enjoys the movie. During the Clones production phase his two daughters had to live trough puberty —> Anakin & Padme romance. One of Lucas’ daughters had a crush on N’Sync so Lucas wanted to put them into the Geonosis Arena battle as backround characters. Lucas’ alibi “I make movies for children” can be changed to “I make movies for MY children”.
