The Mandalorian - a general discussion thread - * SPOILERS *
Time

I’m too invested in Star Wars to just move on, but the inner kid in me that wants to watch everything as soon as it comes out is fading. Gone is the time of Star Wars being must watch spoiler-free content opening day for me… I’ll make some popcorn and throw it on eventually at some point.

Meh, the only way I see Star Wars becoming great again is for them to totally ditch the PT, OT and ST eras and make something original-ish. The Old Republic content is a no-brainer to put butts in seats but onward to the unwanted Rey movie we go…

Kevin Feige Developing New Star Wars Movie
Time

Seems like the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. It still amazes me how things can be getting botched this bad. After the mostly negative reception of sequels upon their completion, you’d think LucasFilm would be more on top of things and what they choose to do and release to the public.

The fact that Kathleen Kennedy, the HEAD of LucasFilm, hasn’t seen the script/plans for a movie that was announced and reported on is just baffling. At this point, LucasFilm just needs a complete restructure from the top down. Kathy needs to go and there needs to be someone like Feige at Marvel that has a clear vision and actually cares about the franchise.

It seems like LucasFilm will continue to throw things to the wall and see what will stick. They have more canceled movies and shows than successful releases at this point and given Kathy’s lack of knowledge of this project… this will 100% be another canceled LucasFilm project.

At this point… I think I’m learning to just accept the ST.

Yes, they made bad story decisions. Yes, there were missed opportunities. But… they are never going away.

So I’d rather enjoy what fun new Star Wars we do get that tries to improve the ST story rather than try to find a way to complain about anything new.

Plus, with the quality ST edits… those are my canon, and it makes the story much more palatable and cohesive.

This episode is a good part of a badly written story in my view.

That’s a very fair statement. Hopefully things get back on track in the writing department for Ahsoka and Mando S4. When this show has its highs they are certainly high, but that shouldn’t be for only 25% of a season… it should be 80-100% no questions asked.

Hal’s Rogue One edit (a half-assed version of DigMod’s) (Released)
Time

ROGUE ONE

The Republic has fallen. In its
wake, the Empire has engulfed the
far reaches of the galaxy in
fear. Few oppose the unquestioned
rule of the EMPEROR.

Galen Erso, an Imperial scientist
whose knowledge has made him an
invaluable asset has gone into
hiding, hoping to prevent his
skills from being used for the
Empire’s sinister efforts.

Discovering the remote location
of his former comrade, the
unnerving Director Orson Krennic
is intent on retrieving Erso to
complete their ominous work,
no matter the cost…

I’d say the crawl would work well to tease something bad, but save the “ultimate weapon” or “Death Star” talk for the film itself.

Here is one I posted WAYYYY back in December of 2016 😄

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away…

STAR WARS

ROGUE ONE

Six years have passed since the
Galactic Empire tightened its grip
on the galaxy. Hope is fading, fear
is everywhere.

Fearing his family’s lives are at
risk, Galen Erso, an Imperial
Scientist, has fled to the
small remote planet of Lah’mu
with the help of Saw Gerrera, a
Rebel extremist.

Desperate for Galen’s valuable
research, Orson Krennic, director
of the dreaded DEATH STAR
project, has recently discovered
Galen’s location and has been
sent to retrieve him…

'Rey Skywalker' (Upcoming live action motion picture) - general discussion thread
Time

In my mind this movie only works if Mark Hamill is in it. If Rey looks up to Luke enough to call herself “Rey Skywalker”… show us that relationship!

Have Rey’s new Jedi Order established on Anch-To, and since the location is stong with the force or some other bs reason, also give me force ghost Luke training Jedi too and having fun teaching with Rey and guiding the students.

It can even be a smaller role that book ends the movie. There’s a threat, Luke helps train students more and gives advice, Rey leaves with students and uses Luke’s guidance. Aka, don’t be afraid to use Luke and still make him a participant in rebuilding the Order!

For example… see “Professor Binns” in the Harry Potter novels, but not as boring.

This show has literally become “how many pop culture actors can we get on here?” and it is just ruining the immersion way too much.

Shitty writing is okay in a long running TV show from time to time as it normally rebounds the next season, but this is fricken laughable. Does Kathy really have Jon and Dave locked in her basement at gunpoint?

Compare this last episode to ANY episode in S1 (or even S2 for that matter) and it tonally feels like a different show. There is ZERO direction moving forward. The season is almost over and about 70% of it could be cut and no details would be missed!

This is NOT the way…

It looks amazing and I hope it’s not going to become an Ivan Ortega situation.

Whenever there are faneditors outside of this community and the IFDB forums, I worry about them going the Ivan Ortega way.

Never. I’ll never turn to the Dark Side!

Actually the only reason I haven’t posted anything about this project on this forum is because I didn’t know where to start with the description and updates, since project blew up in the proportions. But then here comes DZ-330 and actually condenses everything in a nice and meaningful way. Thank you!

And thank you all for the support!

Didn’t know you were on the OT forum! Very excited for your edit! If there is anything you want me to update in the main post at all just send me a PM. Would love a link to the edit when completed 😃

Kenobi: Trials Of The Master - Fanedit by PixelJoker95
Time

Looks like a user going by PixelJoker95 has a very interesting and promising edit of Obi-Wan Kenobi on the way.

Hello there!

15 years ago almost to the date, I was inspired by Star Wars to dive into the amazing world of visual effects. Today, I’m a VFX artist working in the field for almost 8 years, and was honored this very year to work on one of the upcoming SW series.

Like most of us, I was looking forward to the Kenobi series, and frankly I enjoyed it very much. But there are some things I wish were improved a little bit more, both in the storyline and in the visuals themselves.

Just for fun and some crazy dedication, I decided to do my own take on it. It’s no secret this series works way better in the theatrical version, because it was envisioned that way in the first place. So, I’m going to do just that, with some original musical themes, newly created visions/flashbacks, and of course- new visual effects.

Before I started my career in the VFX I was formally trained as a film editor, so this little side project sounds like a perfect combination for me.

One of the things I would like to see is to bridge the visual gap between the Prequels, Rebels and the OT.

I will give a new look to the Grand Inquisitor and bring it closer to the look of Pau’an species shown in ROTS. Also the Fifth Brother will look much closer to his Rebels version.

There will be a LOT of changes, but most importantly, they will have a place in the story and will take a supportive role.

Any chance you would put Yoda’s exile into Dagobah into the Padme Dies version? Revenge of the Sith: Rebalanced found a nice spot for it with interrupting the flow of the ending.

I had to go find where he put it… from his changelist:

 • Yoda now goes off to Dagobah before the funeral, but after helping Obi-Wan and Bail Organa deliver her body to Naboo.

I understand if Hal doesn’t want to add this as it can be assumed Yoda goes there.
Plus the ending structure of: Mother -> Father -> Daughter -> Son is too good to mess with.

No, that’s outside what the goal of the alternate version is. And if that’s what you’d like to see, L8wrtr’s version would come pretty close. (That’s why I held out on doing an alternate version to begin with, because his is already a well done edit that concludes that way. But this alternate version will execute what LOE does best except properly accommodating the theatrical ending.)

Sounds good! LoE is still my go to for the alternative version. Plus with your prequels, Yoda isn’t a gymnist doing flips so it makes sense! I just know it’s a crowd pleaser but I understand it’s exclusion.
