With the goal of the First Order being extremists trying to prevent the Jedi Order’s return, having the New Republic appear competent, and explaining that the Resistance is secret but somewhat supported, AND that the New Republic is using the Resistance to secretly fight their war without approval of the Senate… here’s the best I can think of:

EPISODE VII
THE FORCE AWAKENS

For the opening:

• “You’re just a weak vessel… what could you give me?”

When focusing on Rey during their bond scene where they pass the lightsaber:

• “Rey, I’m here.”

When Rey “dies”, a somber:

• “No… Rey.”

When Rey leaves, happily:

• “Rey, it’s finished. Thank you.”

Yeah, I’d suggest not adding that plot-line back in.

Just to note, I don’t have the editing experience to complete this edit, but would love to see one of the awesome faneditors here take a project like this on!

Thought that I had that I didn’t want to lose…

• Add music from the Last Crusade train scene when Indy is on the train in the opening as a fun callback

I thought the movie wasn’t great, but wasn’t terrible either. However, I think that by trimming off some of the fat, this film can truly become a great Indy story that can stand alongside the trilogy.

Sorry KOTCS, you will always be Extra Indy, not Essential Indy, regardless of how much fun I have with that movie.

For starters:

• Color correction to remove the oversaturated and CGI-looking backgrounds in some scenes
• Clean up the CGI in the flashback sequence if possible, some shots look amazing, others look like they belong on the PS2
• De-age Indy’s voice in the intro if possible
• Clean up any “eh-looking” Old Indy CGI shots
• Trim some of Helena’s over-the-top banter
• Less Teddy, sorry kid, you seem like a fine young man but your character was one of the weaker points of the movie
• If possible, try to have Indy decide to go back to his own time instead of Helena forcing that choice. Have Indy pass out from being shot, then wake back up in NY?
• Replace Helena’s theme at the very end before the credits with another music piece more Indy/Marion/Raiders related.

I’d love to hear what other suggestions people have for this film!

I’d add some reverb/echo to the first line and it will be sounding perfect 😃

Wow looks great! Loving the more natural looking colors. TPM always had a weird pink saturated look to it even when they tried to fix it on the BluRay and UHD

Does the alternative version also include the changes on the main version?

This outline sounds great, and I cannot wait to see how it comes to fruition.

I’m too invested in Star Wars to just move on, but the inner kid in me that wants to watch everything as soon as it comes out is fading. Gone is the time of Star Wars being must watch spoiler-free content opening day for me… I’ll make some popcorn and throw it on eventually at some point.

Meh, the only way I see Star Wars becoming great again is for them to totally ditch the PT, OT and ST eras and make something original-ish. The Old Republic content is a no-brainer to put butts in seats but onward to the unwanted Rey movie we go…

Seems like the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. It still amazes me how things can be getting botched this bad. After the mostly negative reception of sequels upon their completion, you’d think LucasFilm would be more on top of things and what they choose to do and release to the public.

The fact that Kathleen Kennedy, the HEAD of LucasFilm, hasn’t seen the script/plans for a movie that was announced and reported on is just baffling. At this point, LucasFilm just needs a complete restructure from the top down. Kathy needs to go and there needs to be someone like Feige at Marvel that has a clear vision and actually cares about the franchise.

It seems like LucasFilm will continue to throw things to the wall and see what will stick. They have more canceled movies and shows than successful releases at this point and given Kathy’s lack of knowledge of this project… this will 100% be another canceled LucasFilm project.

Ugh… that was a very dull season finale.
