Criterion-like box set for njvc's custom blu-ray set

That is awesome. So, forgive me if this is a dumb question, does anyone know what each cover is referencing when it mentions “Alternate version created from a 35mm LPP print”?

I believe he meant for the set to include the Silver Screen edition of Star Wars and the Grindhouse scans of Empire and Jedi. I have removed the reference on my Jedi cover and will likewise edit my SW and ESB covers.

Awesome. Cannot wait for the 50gb set, so I can assemble mine 😃 So, for the Jedi set (since the 50gb version includes the trilogy documentaries) are you gonna make a different cover (Not just noted differently), or just have the listing on the back different?

JMoomer’s original covers described the 50GB discs. As the 25GB discs have less audio tracks are you changing the audio tracks description on your recreations to fit the specs of the 25GB discs?

I can do that.

JEDIT: I will carefully go through the descriptions and make one version for the 25GB set and another for the 50GB set. I plan to make 50GB labels, too, so we’ll have both covered.

That is awesome. So, forgive me if this is a dumb question, does anyone know what each cover is referencing when it mentions “Alternate version created from a 35mm LPP print”?

Yeah, the JMoomer covers are not as high res as I would like, so now that I have the basic template that I made for my trilogy documentaries cover done in his style, I’m going back and actually re-creating those covers but at a higher res. Will take me a while longer for sure, but that’s my goal. Naturally I’ll post the finished products here. Again, I just want to state - big props to JMoomer. Love his covers, and that started this whole project for me.

Really glad to hear you’re recreating them. I was hoping you were doing that, but I knew the extra work that would be.

Hello everyone! I am just about to start the project of creating the boxsets and so damn excited for it. I am going for 2-disc cases for each entry (50GB+25GB). I haven’t decided if to go with the criterion cases or standard blu ray cases. Any suggestions as far as the artwork? tips are getting it all done right the first time? where to buy the cases ?

I’m in the same boat, looking for artwork for 2 disc sets. For Jedi, are you going with the two 50GB disc version?

Also, Casetopia seems to be pretty reasonable price wise and they have both criterion and regular blu ray cases.

I intend to make disc labels for the 50GB versions. I have all 25GB so those were my priority, but now that my box set is all done I can move on to other versions. I used the Criterion-style covers by JMoomer (but I had to create a fourth cover for my 25GB trilogy documentaries case). I also made a box for them just last night.

Awesome, sounds great, thanks!

Bringing this query to the photoshoppin’ community here because my PMs to the original creators have apparently fallen on deaf ears. Over in the thread for njvc’s custom blu-ray Despecialized set in the Preservations section, user JMoomer created some very beautiful case inserts for all three films and disc labels for ANH. User SteveE then created labels for the other two films, and I was able to assemble the set using my new printer. The problem, however, is that JMoomer included Star Wars Revisited as disc 3 of his ANH set instead of njvc’s documentaries disc, and SteveE didn’t make ANH labels because JMoomer had already done it. I reached out to both of them to see if they wouldn’t mind whipping up a quick documentaries label to round out the set, but that was more than a month ago and I’ve gotten no reply from either. Would anyone here mind throwing something together for the docs disc to match these?

Here’s what I whipped up for my third disc label for that set because I ran into the exact same issue you encountered!

sw

Man, that looks great. Since the people who made the disc art aren’t responding, do you think maybe you’d be able to make 2 disc set versions of those labels for people who went the 50gb route(For SW the film and special features on disc 1 and documentaries on disc 2, for ESB the same, for RotJ the same on disc 1 and the RotJ and the SW Trilogy Documentaries on Disc 2)?

Yeah, I saw those, looking for something closer to normal SW covers.

This post also has some of the very talented ‘chyron8472’ Q2 Prequel Edit covers (a bit more traditional in style):-

Ok cool. I’m still hoping my start inspires someone to make my covers awesome.

Tips/assistance with my Fall of the Jedi covers?
Time

Hey everyone. So, I’m by no means any type of graphic designer, but I really wanted some nicer looking covers for my Fall of the Jedi prequel fanedits (Yes, I own the real prequel blu rays). I threw something together in Photoshop, but I understand it’s really amateur. I would love for these to look professionally made, like they can sit next to my other blu rays and not stick out like a sore thumb. Any tips on how to make it better, or, even better, if someone’s interested in taking my work and making it better, I would really appreciate it. I kept all the assets I used for the covers, so if you’d like to tweak them, just let me know. Thanks!

team negative1 - star wars 1977 - 35mm theatrical version (Released)
Time

Finished downloading today, got to take a look at it. Wow. For someone who wasn’t fortunate enough to have been alive when this came out in theatres, this was an incredible experience. I am so pleased this exists. The biggest thank you to everyone involved at Team -1 for restoring a treasure of our history and pop culture.

I am so excited for the blu ray release. One question, and please forgive me if this has already been answered: Will you be including blu ray cover and disc artwork in the release? I can’t wait to make this up and make it look as great as it can on my shelf.

I had an idea this morning for a set of Blu-ray covers showcasing the small things in Star Wars. As a rule, I determined that they should be smaller than a lightsaber, since lightsabers are overused on covers already.
Blu-ray Covers
This is just a rough draft. If I were to create art specifically for these, I would have chosen R2’s restraining bolt for ANH and the crackers that Leia gives to Wicket for ROTJ, as well as focus on just the lamp held by Yoda.

I think that’s a really cool idea. I’d love to see how those turn out.

Man, I love seeing all these covers that have been created – really fantastic work all around!

Does anyone happen to have a link to this set of covers made by Video Collector that they’d be willing to send me?

I tried PM’ing him a while ago, so far no dice.
Oh, and if you happen to have the Despecialized variants he made for the OT, that’d be a bonus!

Same for me please!
Thanks!

Video Collector has made it pretty clear he doesn’t want people distributing them on their own. I know it can be annoying having to wait, but be patient, sometimes people take a couple days to reply on here, but Video Collector has been pretty good about replying in my experience.

I’ve been waiting patiently for nearly a month. I think it’s fair to try to find them here.

Sorry guys. After the new forum software was implemented I plain didn’t realize I had PMs waiting. (That speech bubble thing up there ain’t exactly intuitive.) I also had to upload several of my covers to a new server before sending out links so…

Anyway, I thank you all for respecting my wishes to not take on any distribution of your own. All courteous messages will receive a response eventually.

And please specify which cover set you want when you message me. I can’t enter into a back-and-forth with everyone who just asks for “those Star Wars covers”.

Info Wanted: Which are the Best Anamorphic DVD versions of OT?
Time

(So, if this has been addressed already, forgive me and please point me in the right direction, not trying to break any forum rules.)

So, my best friend wants to introduce his little brother to Star Wars. He wants to take him to go see The Force Awakens while he’s up here on Christmas break, but he wants to show him the original trilogy first.

He’s looking for a DVD copy of the Original Trilogy. I’ve been looking into the different versions on this site, and been a built overwhelmed with all the choices (and the info on them not being the most up to date.)

What is the best version of the OT that I can find for him? Preferably Anamorphic, since he and I are both not fans of the letterbox style, like the GOUT discs. Also, this isn’t necessary, but if they would have disc and cover art, that would be amazing, since these are (hopefully) gonna be a Christmas present to his little brother.

Thanks so much in advance!

The Force Awakens: Official Review Thread - ** SPOILERS **
Time

First impressions after seeing it the first time (have my tickets for tomorrow night), and keep it mind, this is coming from someone who dislikes the prequels and refuses to watch the special editions of the OT (Despecialized Editions all the way, luv ya Harmy!): Never before have I had this experience watching a film: Not “Woah, that movie it’s awesome!”, not “Man, how disappointing was that?”. This was J.J. Abrams going back and fixing a big part of my childhood. Watching this was pure, peaceful bliss. Star Wars is back, and it’s great once again.
