This is what C3PX did in his awesome edit except for the conversation about Luke's fate. He posted the link below, but here it is again.

I watched the video. A little jarring at times, but pretty decent. You've sparked the desire in me to play around with this sequence as well. I've actually played with trying to insert the clip I did in. I cleaned it up a bit more and played with the star field, animating it and such...

btw: don't be intimidated... If it weren't for this new program I bought, I'd be any other person here... in a way I am... I have no experience and for all I know, there is a much easier way to remove the correlian but I have yet to find it.

The planet is still a little jerky... I keep playing with it to lessen this. it's getting better.

Anyways, I inserted it into the ending sequence. In a way, it actually fills a plot hole: How obi-wan got to Tatooine.I mean, obviuosly he had ot take a ship... but... he couldn't have gone alone. Someone had to take him... because... well, unless he didn't take care of his space ship, in Episode IV he doesn't have one... nor does it look like he has one off in a shed somewhere lol...

What's also cool is that since you see the Tantive IV landing on Alderan in the end, you can actually rip the audio and layer it over the video clip I made and it's practically flawless... and then I did a wipe to Obi-Wan arriving at the hovel.

The rest is as in the film, so I simply fade out so you're not downloading the whole darn film :-p

anyways if you want any help with anything, let me know...I'd be glad to help.

What about using a shot I just made... it's not great... but it's not bad:

(Sorry about this screen capture quality)

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d89/BrachioInGen/PDVD_490.jpg
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d89/BrachioInGen/PDVD_492.jpg

I took a screen cap of when Anakin and Padme go to Tatooine in EPisode II, and then cropped out the correllian from Episode III and layered them. Not the best work in the world, but I'm learning.

You can download it here... if you think it'll help any:

Video

Also, I was wondering, as mentioned by another before, we know that Luke is a skywalker... why not show luke being born... but no mention of twins..
Also, show Obi-Wan holding luke as Padme dies...

then show a bit of the conversation when they talk about the fate of luke... but obmit Leia's... that way... we get a little bit more time at the end of the video... but no mention of the other twin...

EDIT:

This is a slightly better version of the video

A fanedit concept: Star Wars movies as a TV series? (* unfinished project *)
Time
I dunno if this has been discussed, but it has been brought to my attention that Lego Star Wars... I guess in Campaign mode has the different levels broken into chapters...

At the beginning it has the scroll... perhaps using this set up would be a good way to break up the films into this style?

Here's an example:

Episode 3 - Editing Back in Progress (* unfinished project *)
Time
I know that aroudn the time Episode I came out, I had a talk with some friends about Episode III and how they'd pull off the continuation of the story.

I argued that they wouldn't show Anakin as Vader or the birth of the twins.

I figured that since it was meant to be a mystery until Episode V when Luke and Vader realize their relation...and then again until VI when Luke realizes Leia is his sister.... To me it seemed like the proper way to go. To not show the birth of the twins, and to not show anakin's 'birth' into vader.

I wasn't entirely sure how they were going to pull it off. I had heard from friends that Anakin died from Lava so I pretty much said what is seen here...

As far as the birth of the twins I wasn't sure what to think. I like how you don't show they are born and instead cut to her funeral.

What I don't like, and perhaps is something that you simply cannot change, is how quick this edit moves though the last portion of the film. It moves far too fast for me and it' feels like someone hitting the fast forward button every few moments and then letting it play for a few moments and then doing it again and so fourth.

I understand the limitations thought because you only have what is in the film to work with... so I'm unsure of how to resolve this.

I would say that the end of the film is too quick and has too little dialogue. I wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to include at least the portion of Yoda speaking to Obi-Wan about Qui-Gon... and maybe the cleaning of the memory of 3PO... just to give it a little bit more time.

Also, I think there should be something else at the end however what, I'm unsure of.

As far as my comment about some of the clips seeming weird, most of the video up until the arrival at mustafar is this way.

The opening shot of Padme leaving looks very fake... the whole sequence.

Palpatine in the Senate Chambers looks fake (the openning of the fight).

Then the entrance to mustafar looks fake again.

I think it's a frame rate thing because in the film it doesn't look that way...

As far as the music, I'm hope that my set can help you. If you need any adivce or help editing the music, let me know. I'm pretty good at editing music to video (as you may or may not have seen on youtube heh).

Can't wait to see the enxt edit.

EDIT:

Also, I wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to change one of your edits.

When Palpatine tells Anakin to shut down the droid armies of the sepratists, instead of showing ANakin saying "Very good Master," why don't you show his hologram (the shot from earlier) and simply layer his line over it.

Then, play the shot of the hologram comming into focus backwards for the video of it going out... instead of showing where he is at all. Becuase it seems almost random to show it for 2 seconds you know? The whole reason why it's shown at all is for the camera to be able to jump from one location to the other. And with no need to do that, then there's no need to show that location until latter when Anakin is standing on the ledge.

just an idea.

I have a few questions:

Did you speed up some of the video or did you rip it at a different frame rate?
or does it just look that way because these are prelim videos?

It's just that some of the shots, especially the digitally dependant ones look very fake in their current state...and they don't in the film... and it's eaither because you ripped at a different frame rate or sped up the video...

As far as the editing... I like what you're trying to do with the movement of Anakin standing on the ledge of Mustafar to after Yoda and Palpatine start fighting... I do feel that the sound is a bit jarring.

If I may make a suggestion. I would try editing the video how you want it... then figure out the audio latter... IF you dont' have it already, I'd recommend downloading my complete Episode III score edit. You can use those and the center channel to rebuild the audio track... then maybe a few sfx here and there from the original edit....

But that's just my suggestion...

All I've ever heard it called was Max Rebo Band Music...

it's on disc 3 because there is no clean release of it... the best I could do was a pretty low quality DVD rip of the rear channel... so I stuck it on as an extra...

Hey all... so I have an update.

I recently bought a new program to edit my videos and such and I found out it has a pretty nice sound editing function as well... so I've been using it on the set and holy crap, its some amazing stuff...

I'm really happy with it.

It did mean, however, that I had to go back and re-do the tracks I'd already done (oh noes lol). So I thought I'd let you all know that I'm still working and that it should be really good once finished.

.rar is like .zip except a more commonly used one these days.

Just download winrar

Lossless mp3's are not truly lossless and are still ok in quality but they're ok.

FLAC is like wav but different format that makes it a smaller file. You have to download the update to winamp so that FLAC will play.

As for updated, I've been busy with some things, but things are comming along.

almost reminicient of War of the Worlds heh...

As for the Yoda's landing on Dagobah, I'm glad you said it was before the funeral... I had trouble figuring out where it was meant to be...

Anywhere else and it would disturb the flow of the film.

As for Episode II... it is a very daunting task. So much is edited and so little is released. I can't release anything that will be very clean or listenable or even enjoyable... it's just a very hard thing to find the balance on especially with how difficult and easily displeased people are with fan-edits. I always try to present the best... better than anything released... thurough, complete, clean, listenable, and have tons of extras.

Episode II really doesn't allow for much of that... I'm trying my best.. but it's hard to make any promises. Even the album was a poor transfer considering the amount of hiss there is on a "digital recording"...

I'll keep you up to date.

Battle for Naboo Re-Edit (Completed)
Time
I'm afraid that I'm still a bit behind the curve. I still use Windows Movie Maker :-p

If I weere going to do a DVD release, It would have to be nearly flawless... wich would mean a new editing program, a new DVD burning program (as the ones I have don't give too much leeway) and some time (which I have).

I, personally, have trouble watching Episode III without all that music... THere is still maybe 30 seconds of unreleased, unused music, unfound... about 15 seconds is used in the film (from the blowing up of the shield generator to right before landing)... but there was meant to be more to cover the landing and most of the fight...and the music that plays at the landing in the film was meant for latter and would have segued directly into General Grevious. If I could find that, I'd re-do that whole sequence... starting from Main Titles to "Another Happy Landing."

I havn't watched Episode I since a while before I made the edit, so I'm sure when I go back to re-watch it I'll cringe a lot then too...

Thanks for the kind words and ideas... Maybe one day I will put these all to DVD... heh

No, not my work, and by no means representative of what the edit I'm doing is.

For example, "Old Friends" is released in a video game... that's really an album comparison to the music as used in the film.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Nice to know people appreciate the work heh...

Again, if you have any questions or comments or if you have other problems, let me know.

so it would seem that I was wrong. Disc 4 does have aproblem.I'm guessing that no one's really mentioned it except you two because it's the last track of disc 4 but thats ok lol

I wouldn't recommend any programs to download except right clicking and downloading. I have been asked before if there were corrupt files and there weren't and it was because the program had messed them up.

I use Winrar also to unload the files. By the time you all read this, the new disc 4 will be uploaded. I'll see about uploding the file separeately as well.

If anyone has further trouble, let me know.

Rather than Redownload the whole disc for one track, heres the track:

As for the music... I hate how they remixed it.

Look at when the X-wings fly into the Death Star trench... what happened to the fanfare there? What? Ben Burtt dialed it out almost completely? WTF?

And Don't get me started with Episode II

Oh well... I responded to the PM's ...thanks for the support guys!

if you get corrupted files, its not because the file is actually corrupted. Try downloading again. I also should warn hat if you're trying to download things with third party programs rather than simply right clicking and downloading, It doesn't always work and you will get corrupted files.

Heh... if you were on JWFan.net, they'd kill you for that "one of the other sound mixers."

That happens to be Kenneth Wannberg. He was supervisor of the music mixing of nearly every (if not every) John William's film since 'Tom Sawyer'...and including the OT.

lol... so you'd have to imagine he has quite a bias when it comes to this sort of thing.

It is kinda sad that he feels that way, but you do have to remember, Star Wars is the reason we have surround sound these days. Fantasia-sound was too expensive, although it was the forefather of it... Star Wars really made it worth-while for theatres t have and films to utilize so I'd imagine there is some sense of Pride in that as well for Ben Burtt although, in all fairness, I feel the sound design/editing to the star wars is below par.

Yes, he won an award. Yes he made the lightsaber sounds ... wopdie shit. lol

But if you listen to just one channel.. like... say the center channel on ANH... say... when Luke asks his uncle owen if he can "go to the academy this year." The edits between both takes and live vs re-record, not to mention Aunt Beru's voice... it's sooo obvious.

And the Rancor sound from ROTJ... it's an elephant. They didn't even BOTHER to change the sound. It's just a normal elephant sound.

and there are a dozen examples of this where it's like they didn't try...

Oh well...

I'm guessing you've tried before? It is nearly impossible to deal with.

So little is on the album and the film is filled with horrid edits and tracked music. Not to mention, even the video games have very little material.

On top of that, there was some strange mixing gong on... it's all very bright...too bright. there is soo much hiss for a digital recording. It's rather sad.

Actually, I've started Episode II... but I became dismayed. I'm tempted to put out a suplimental album... and not a complete edit...but I'd hate to do that.

As far as other sets, I'm currently working on ROTJ. I've hunted down everything from original LP rips to video game usage... I'm trying to compile the best sounding release and most complete one yet.

It is already about 40 minutes long and I'm not even to Sail Barge Assault yet.
Will let you know.
