He’s calling her bluff because he knows she won’t, and therefore the crisis will happen and it covers his tracks i.e. “I tried in vain to stop it”.
That makes no sense for Sidious… no one outside of the Trade Federation guys is even aware he exists! I suppose it could make sense for Senator Palpatine to try and get her to do it… but Sidious is the one prodding the Trade Federation to get her to do it and no one knows that he’s actually Palpatine.

Did anyone notice how the trailer sorta mimicked the style of the first TFA teaser?
- Open on a landscape with a jumpscare and low music
- Narration over trailer footage from a strange voice
- BB-8 running (a stretch)
- Brief look at Kylo Ren with his lightsabre near the end
- Frantic speeding of ships / speeders
There is surely more, but I’ve only seen the trailer twice and this is all that can come to mind. If this is spoiler talk, I’ll move it.

Thought the whole stream today was pretty good (no announcements aside). Carrie tribute + Williams live was extremely impressive and Ray Park’s panel was a load of fun too. He’s falls just far enough on the fun-crazy side rather than the scary-cringe-crazy side haha.
