After the Sequel Trilogy Concludes... Then What?
Time

Great discussion, but they're never, ever, ever going to reboot or ret-con the prequels.

Prequels feed into Clone Wars, which feeds into Rebels, which may feed into Rogue One, which feeds.... etc.

We can hardly take the moral high ground on here about film history and preservation and then propose rebooting the prequels.

As for what's next - the world really is their oyster and they can go anywhere! As long as, for me, it's universe expansion. I don't need a million origin stories. It's OKAY for Luke to meet Han in the Cantina without knowing Han's teenage years as a smuggler.

The possibilities are endless!

But we fight for the OOT.

That's a main reason for why I think we'll see the HD OOT soon. Lucas was the only one opposed to its release. Even Rick McCallum said he hoped Lucas would release it someday

The lads from makingstarwars.net, for whatever it's worth, told me at Celebration that there was "no chance", as albeit selling commercial rights, "Lucas retains final cut".

So we shall see. Fingers perenially crossed!

My highlights thus far:

1) Revenge of the Sith in 3D* (crowd cheering when Anakin pulled his lightsaber on the younglings was quite something!)

2) JJ Panel & new trailer (the cheer when Han & Chewie were shown...)

3) Empire Strikes Back lost music with David W Collins

4) Carrie Fisher panel (she's mad and so charismatic)

5) Art of Ralph McQuarrie panel

6) Canon panel

Today: Smuggler's Bounty, Mark Hamill, plus a panel with Clone Wars composer Kevin Kiner if I can fit that in.

Tomorrow: Billy Dee, Doug Chiang, Gareth Edwards & Josh Trank, and Closing Ceremony.

*Note: I've personally dropped my anger about the prequels. They're not going away, they're firmly canon, so I might as well look for positives. My ire for the Special Editions and the lack of OOT will never be dropped.

Final list:

1) Revenge of the Sith in 3D (crowd cheering when Anakin pulled his lightsaber on the younglings was quite something!)

2) Smuggler's Bounty - just a fun atmosphere

3) JJ Panel & new trailer (the cheer when Han & Chewie were shown...)

4) Rogue One (surprise trailer)

5) Empire Strikes Back lost music with David W Collins

6) Closing Ceremony

7) Carrie Fisher panel (she's mad and so charismatic)

8) Art of Ralph McQuarrie panel

9) Canon panel

Delighted that 2016 is in my home town, London. Jedi Master tickets in the bag!

Star Wars: Rogue One - * Non Spoiler Discussion Thread *

What annoyed me about the EU was so much of it revolved around the original cast or their kids. It made the universe feel small.

Fox has been doing pretty much the same thing with X-men. They have a huge volume of rich characters and story lines to pull from, yet all but one movie has been centered on Wolverine.

A question was asked about this during the "What is canon" panel at Celebration (hosted by Leland Chee and Pablo Hidalgo).

Essentially, 'what needs to happen to avoid a big mass of story for the central characters' that was unreasonable - i.e., there are only so many iconic events or enemies one character could reasonably face. Luke wouldn't save the galaxy every other week for 35 years.

Response: story group are very carefully considering this for all characters.
