October Batman Release
Time
Gaffer Tape, depending on which country you're from there are a few versions. There's the two-disc Deluxe Edition, the single disc Widescreen and Fullscreen Editions and then in a few places you can also a Collectors Edition that contains the two-disc version, the CD soundtrack, a 72 page comic book and four cards.

I'll be getting one of the two-disc versions, I usually don't bother with the packaged versions but the price isn't too different here and it will be released during the initial launch (unlike most other DVD packages) so I might consider it.

[edit]Actually, it looks like the online store I was looking at just confused the issue! I believe the comic book also comes with the Deluxe Edition.[/edit]

Sorry, the FULL original quote was three posts above mine. It was about sending discs of the artwork scans free of charge to five people on the condition that they all created at least one DVD cover and posted it here.

Standard dvd covers measure 10 3/4 x 7 1/4. That will fit on 8.5 x 11 glossy paper.

What printers are you using?

My canon ip5000 prints borderless.

Does the r200/300 print borderless?

The R200/210/300/310 sure does do borderless printing. I wonder if you can even still by printers without that 'feature'.

You're correct though, standard covers do indeed fit on that size. The usual complaint I hear about concerns multi-disc cases and specifically silver foil paper.

Your answers were placed into a pre-written story with often hilarious results.

Ah yeah. Thanks Rowman, you're the Adjective Noun!

The only other way I can forsee getting glossy photo paper big enough for a DVD case is by cutting up 11"x17" photo paper...and that stuff is WAY to expensive since you have to buy 25 or so sheets at a time.

Or alternatively you can move outside of America and just use regular A4!

The Bizzle has just said that he didn't design these covers so he may not be able to tell you you what the font was. That said, if you are referring to the capitalised episode title then I presume it is meant to be quite condensed so that it matches the official crawls, which it is obviously emulating.

Unfortunately I can't really help as I want to solve the inverse problem for myself, any Australians got any suggestions for very cheap NTSC playing DVD players?

Yeah, sorry, that was me. I was actually just refering to what I was used to, I'd recently upgraded my work computer and was working at a much higher res than what I usually watch DVDs on (1856x1392 compared to 1280x1024), plus I'm used to the ever so slight increase provided by a PAL source.

Please, please, please start using some punctuation in your posts.

DAYV, can you give us an idea of the prizes? If they don't interest me I might apply to be a judge! Hehe!

That said, what would be expected of the judges? Just scores and a little commentary or full reviews?

I couldn't disagree more. I've done a lot of recordings in both xp (1 hour) and sp (2 hour) on my recorders and the 2 hours are always worse than the one

But don't standalone DVD video recorders use fixed bitrates for recording in such modes? so you can't really compare that to encoding & burning on a PC which can do multiple pass variable bitrate encoding to ensure the picture quality stays even throughout and the bitrate is automatically upped/lowered according to the complexity of the image being encoded.

Exactly, a DVD Recorder really isn't what one should base levels of compression on as it has to work with so many variables (such as flat colours in animation, action scenes, still scenes) that it can't possibly give you anywhere near the best result.

Hehe, was that grammatical error an intentional pun?

I don't actually totally agree with that statement. Sure, two hours of DVD quality footage shouldn't be squeezed onto one layer, but because Laserdisc footage is so much softer and due to the nature of MPEG2 compression it actually compresses a lot more without any quality loss. So in most cases it would be impossible to tell any difference between a single layer Laserdisc transfer and a dual layer, unless a hefty amount of filter was done to sharpen the footage (though then the sharpening may be more detrimental than the compression artefacting!). From what I've read, this is the main reason there aren't too many dual layer transfers available here, not because the burners are rarer or even the hefty price of media. Most users here would be willing to spend a bit to get the best quality possible.

Of course things change once you start adding multiple audio tracks, extras and motion menus!

BTW...what did you type in Google to find that pic, coz I can't seem to find it at all?!?

No problem.

Well, on my first attempt I searched for "return of the jedi" uk poster, that gave me a couple of correct results, but the site containing those results was down. So my second attempt was just "return of the jedi" poster and that revealed that site, which had a larger image than the previous down site anyway.
