I don't like Apple
Time

Every time I tell people I prefer PC over Apple products, people tell me Apple is better and that they're so much easier to use. Really? Everytime I have tried to use either an Apple product or software it has been nothing but headaches.

Here's list of reasons why I don't like Apple:

Dysfunctional OS,

The task bar on bottom of the desktop looks flashy, but it makes it hard for me to tell what documents/programs are minimized, with Windows it is clear as day to distinct different documents minimized in the task bar.

GUI,

Windows GUI is very customizable, with Macs you're forced to see what they give you. With Windows you can view your folder files in many different ways from Filmstrip to Details, with Macs you're forced to view files in a list and I like to view them as thumbnails, it feels the most intuitive and comfortable to me. Mac OS GUI don't feel intuitive to me like Windows OS. With Windows I feel like I have a very good sense of where everything is, but with Macs I feel like I'm kind of shooting in the dark.

One-click Mouse,

I know they finally got rid of that damn thing not too long ago, but those things drove me nuts! To right-click you had to hit cnrl first, again, not intuitive.

Quick-keys,

In my experience it seems like Macs require you to learn a lot of quick keys in order to perform functions. With Windows everything is layed out visually so you don't have to learn any quick keys

Screens,

I don't know what it is about Macs, but their screens just don't looks as crisp and clear as PC screens.

Gaming,

They're not designed for gaming and you have to wait a long time for the games to come on in Mac format after they come out for PCs.

Updating,

With all the add-ons/fixes/bugs/viruses these days on the internet you need to update frequently. I don't think Apple has nearly as much updating going on as Microsoft does. Of course they say that their platform is better, that is why they don't have the need to fix as many security holes/bugs/fixes and add-ons. But it is also because a lot less people use them, so it is less of a problem.

Multitasking,

I don't know what the latest macs are like with multitasking, but the ones at my school would go to a crawl anytime you had more than one program running at time.

Video Editing,

Everybody says Macs are the best when it comes to video editing and Photoshop. I've had a better experience doing both on a PC. Again Macs are slower and harder to multitask, key things you need to have when video editing and photoshoping.

Speed,

Macs just by nature seem to be slow and I don't think they can be overclocked?

Proprietary Everything,

With Macs you're forced to buy proprietary everything made by apple. The hardware, software, and even internet connection has to be proprietary and you pay a premium for all these that are way cheaper with PCs for the same performance.

Price,

Everything with apple costs at least twice as much for the equivalent of PCs.

The iPhone,

The iPhone was the most overrated piece of crap. Steve Jobs said the iPhone is going to be way ahead of everything else out there but instead turned out to be 2 years outdated by the time it came out. Many phones had the same features an iPhone had 2 years before it came out. And you're forced to use AT&T for the phone service, buy far the worst and most expensive phone service provider out there. I do know that people can hack iPhones to work with different carriers.

iTunes

I never cared for the software, it's too busy and always pops up after download a music file, and I couldn't find a way to turn that off. It gets annoying. I like to view the files in a folder, with iTunes you have to view them in the software. I heard it will automatically tag your music files but that didn't work for me. I ended up uninstalling the program because of the stupid pop-up feature.

Quicktime,

Quicktime and it seems like every other software program made by Apple runs a lot more resource intensive than any other software made by a different company.

The drag and drop feature,

Their dragging drives into the Trash Bin to eject disks is really old fashioned and amateur. It makes it feel like a computer made for babies.

Amateurish,

It feels like it is made for people who don't know how to use computers

What are you thoughts on Apple products? I have not kept up to date with Apple so they might have changed a lot in the last few years and my complaints about the software might be my fault. I've used older Macs, I know their newer ones are a lot better than their older ones.

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

One thing that really frustrates me about Lucasfilm and particularly George Lucas is how they won't admit that they are making things up as they go along. It's obvious Lucas was making the prequels up as he goes along. The way he talks about his writing in his commentary and discussions he has with the film crew about things he will do. Not to mention he was pretty much letting everyone else dictate ideas about the prequels artistically and he just picked the ones he liked. Story wise I think he did think of most of it himself and didn't take any suggestions which was bad on him. To be a good director it should really be the other way around. I think a good film director should stay focused on their own vision but let all the creativity in on the story telling aspects. Like what RedLetterMedia said, other people's input on a movie can really make a big difference in the quality etc. etc. He said that the original versions don't exists to him and just sees them as earlier drafts. He then broke his word on that in May of 2006 with his announcement of the originals being released on DVD in laserdisk quality. Now it sounds like there are rumors of an episode 7 in the works that he has said many times will never happen on national television like "60 Minutes". He probably realized that he is going through his profits faster than expected (with all the food he's been eating) and that he timed at this rate he will have to make another star wars movie to sell enough action figures to keep up his Jabba the Hutt figure.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

I am a little disappointed that ROTJ will not be in 1080p now. It's not too late to change your word Adywan. You can still say ANH Revisited will be in 1080p as well as ROTJ will too and then you can just upscale ESB:R to look close to 1080p and do the prequels in 720p, who cares about those.

Hi, sorry I didn't read through this whole thread yet. I saw the blu-ray trailer on starwars.com and it looks like the exact same masters used for the DVDs. According to Adywan, they are the masters that will be used for the blu-rays, but we havent seen anything official yet... well except from kenkraly who works for Lucasfilm obviously, but I'm a bit reluctant to believe him, I don't know why.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

I apologize for bringing up old issues, but Adywan, your bank account is already empty? What happened to that money I gave you? That wasn't exactly chump change. You spent it all, already? I don't think you got my email, but I did say I would prefer you spend that on computer storage than stuff to make that damn wampa, which I am still reluctant to believe you can pull off.

I know it's not practical to save several terabytes of data on a home computer, but maybe other people would be willing to hold the files of ESB:R or maybe you could just try burning the files to a lot of blu-ray disks when they come down in price? Just burn the stuff that you need to recreate it if a desire comes down the road to do more to it after you are done. Are you planning on saving the files when you are done?

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

Adywan, once again I would like to say I'm really glad you are going back to this instead of moving on to TPM after ROTJ. The prequels are fine in my mind the way they are, forgotten. But if you are going to do ROTJ in 1080p then maybe you should go back and do ANH and ESB in 1080p too, just kidding. But why don't you try to do ANH in 1080p first and see if it works? After all, if you can do ROTJ in 1080p I don't see why ANH will be a problem, obviously you've invested too much into ESB in 720p to go back and do that, but since you are starting ANH from scratch again, why not go for the full 1080p resolution?

I always felt like the music during the lightsaber battle didn't quite fit and the CGI shots done by "Will" of the Tie Fighters coming in on the attack of the Death Star, look a little to fake, but still better than before with just those 6 coming in when the have this huge battle station was really ridiculous.

Are you sure though that you want to make this announcement official? On second thought, maybe you should just do ROTJ in 720p so it is all consistent now? I know you said you have a computer now that can handle it, but rendering in 720p will take a lot less time and you don't notice a whole lot of difference in quality between 720p and 1080p in my experience.

My fears of Digital Technology Socially Isolating Us
Time

I'm majoring in IT so I'm learning all kinds of things about computers from how they work to how they network, store data transport data, and backup data. I was always wondering how they kept track of people's credit ratings, financial information, investments, property, criminal background checks, before computers? Did they have all this information filed on paper documents in file cabinets? How were they able to find people's credit rating and adjust their investments and stocks so quickly? People had to get phone calls from landline telephones and then walk to file cabinets and mail things. Phone and mail was the only way to communicate. It could take months for identity theft to be detected and for information to be sent out. I just don't see how we were able to make it all work before computers?

I feel like our world is becoming more and more integrated online is not healthy for us. We should have a variety of ways we communicate with people not just digitally. Every year I find myself spending more and more time on the computer to the point where I am sitting at one as much as possible. For one thing, it has replaced a lot of things we used to do other ways. We used to mail more and drive around more to meet people in person to communicate. Now we communicate with them online. The internet has simplified our lives but at the same time I feel like it has separated us from more important things in life. I can't quite explain what it is, but something just doesn't feel right. Somebody want to help me out with what I'm feeling?

It feels like we are creating a generation that grows up communicating with people through images/videos and text instead of physically in person. You don't find that girl that likes you by texting her on facebook twitter or you phone. You don't meet that girl in the library google searching. You don't get that good feeling of hanging out with good friends by texting them. You can have a little of that feeling online, but it isn't the same as the real thing. I fear we are creating a society of socially awkward and isolated people that resort to digital communication for everything just because it is easier. Even when we are in public we are so busy texting and/or listening to our MP3 players and other digital devices that the people we are surrounded by in public are pretty much irrelevant to us in public too. I'm guilty of this myself, but in a way I feel like I'm forced into this lifestyle of digital communication cause physical social isolation because everyone else does it and nobody seems to show any interest in their surrounding people anyways.

Let JediTray back in

I would like to get serious for a moment and talk about chronic sock users. I think they have insecurity problems and low-self esteem. I think they have a hard time accepting who they are so they like to make up their identities and pretend to be someone else. The internet is perfect place for these people to harbor their inner feelings. I don't know if any of you are aware of the DVD called "talhotblonde" that you can currently find in redbox. It is about a couple who meet online and lie about their identities and it leads to someone getting killed. It can get to be a serious issue. I'm going to make up a syndrome for Jedi Tray called sockpuppetitus.

Jedi Tray is a bi-polar, paranoid manic. I would like to say more about him but I am waiting approval from Moth3r or Mothra as I would like to call her/him? We'll probably see another sock appear on here calling me a meanie for saying that about him and then we will see him go on and on and on again about he is a "victim" and it's not his fault he acts this way and it's everybody else fault and then he will apologize after we defend ourselves and start saying how he will miss us when he's gone, but then point out all the people who upset him again and get angry and then threaten anybody who argues with him with gun and then cool down and beg for mercy again to moth3r and then get banned and then the (soc)cycle of life continues...

Adywan, did you get the fan on the north bridge fixed yet? Did/do you have to replace the whole motherboard or just the fan? Have you done anything to them to make the buildings look less CGIish? The problem that I have with the new buildings in ESB SE is the added CGI shots stick out like sore thumbs. You didn't do anything to make them the added CGI blend in better in ANH Revisited, or did you? Are you or have you done anything to the CGI shots in ESB to make them blend in better with the rest of the film?

Jedi Tray, now slb1138. Thanks for returning that donation, how have you made so many accounts? Can't they figure out who you are by your email address? I suggest you go find a girlfriend and forget about all this drama on the internet. I think you will be happier. Do you have a job? If you don't I suggest you start finding that first.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

An HD version in 2016? YEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I knew you would come back around to doing this Adywan. No matter how many times you refused to do it, I knew you couldn't let ANH go in 576p. But 2016 is so far far away. I don't even know if I will be alive then, you don't know if you will either. Hopefully you will add that star wars techno music I've been nagging you about, just kidding.

I know you said you are not accepting any suggestions for the revamp edit, but I want to know your guy's opinions of these 3 ANH duel re-edits.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNCLEJhZhow&playnext_from=TL&videos=60fvniuCew0

This one I like the best. I like how it mixes the "Battle of Heros" at the beginning with the classic ANH theme at the end, this one feels the most fitting in ANH IMO.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTFo2dWt5fY&feature=related

This one works quite well too, it uses music from the ESB Hoth battle, I feel the timing is better at the end than the previous one. But I feel like by having the music in ANH takes emphasis away from it being in ESB so IDK.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzXnaOICJig&feature=related

This one is kind of the opposite of the first one in that it starts with the classic ANH theme, and finishes with the "Battle of Heros" theme. This one is my least favorite. It is too much of a rehash of the music we just heard of Luke and Leia in the chasm right before that.

Was star wars truly meant for children?
Time

"In an earlier draft Annikin [sic] pinched a girl's ass then had sex with her in a closet. With that in mind it's kind of hard to believe Star Wars was intended to be a kids' movie first and foremost."

Is this True DuracellEnergizer?

If it is this would be the coolest thing ever! I always imagined Darth Vader/Anakin being kind of a sex crazed pervert before the prequels. I interpreted Anakin as being guilty about Padme's death because he cheated on her. The way it plays out in ROTS, he is partially responsible but it doesn't work because it doesn't make any sense why he choked her or lost the will to live or why they even loved each other to begin with. I wish Igrew up during the era that the Star Wars Trilogy was released in theater orginally. I would have collected all the articles I could find on it. It would be so cool to go back and look at them today. Not to mention they're good proof against George's claim today that "Star Wars is for kids."

RedLetterMedia's Revenge of Nadine [TPM 108 pg Resp. [RotS Review+RotS Preview+ST'09 Reveiw+Next Review Teaser+2002 Interview+AotC OutTakes+Noooooo! Doc.+SW Examiner Rebuttal+AotC Review+TPM Review]

Of course, if you explained the lack of logic in Obi Wan jumping out of the window at the droid without a moment of thought, the Lucas apologist nerds over at theforce.net and starwars.com will just say that Obi Wan used the force to sense that jumping at the droid was the right thing to do, just like dropping down into the huge crowd of separatist droids was the right thing to do. Anytime there is a contradiction in the story Lucas just uses the force as an excuse to get out of it. In the OT, Luke/Han/Obi Wan/Leia and Chewbacca were kind of shooting from the hip through their adventures. But their logic seemed reasonable enough and we could suspend our disbelief because the acting and story telling was convincing enough. In the PT, there's no character study, we never really get a sense of who they are, Obi Wan and Anakin and Obi Wan are constantly contradicting each other. In the OT when there was a contradiction in characters, the other would mention it, like in ANH when HAn decides to stay after saying "bring it on, I prefer a straight fight instead of all this sneaking around." Then Luke acknowledges his contradiction when Han doesn't want to rescue Leia. It makes sense and we can go along with it. During the prequels your mind is constantly questioning the logic of everything going on.

Another thing just came to me today. In TPM, Qui Gon Jinn speaks to Anakin right before the podrace and says something along the lines of "remember to concentrate on the moment, feel, don't think, and use your instincts." But then in AOTC, Obi Wan makes a complete reversal on that statement and says, "he went in there to hide not to run, patience, use the force, THINK. Qui Gon told him differently, he told him not to think, FEEL! No wonder Obi Wan failed as an instructor for Anakin.

Time

Watching the ROTS RedLetterMedia review again, a few more things came up that I would like to express. He mentions how GL had two ways to do this story of the PT. Have it be a character study that focuses almost entirely on one character, which is what they did, or have Anakin be a minor character part of a bigger story, which I think is the direction they should have gone. Either direction for the PT story could have worked, but even if they did do the story well as a character study of Anakin, I prefer the idea of Star Wars being a story more about Luke Skywalker than Anakin. Lucas changed it around to be a story more about Anakin. It's obvious that Darth Vader was originally not intended to be as big of a character to the story than what he ultimately became. It was obviously originally a story about Luke Skywalker, but then took a 180 somewhere in the writing between ESB and TPM.

According to RedLetterMedia, it appears he blames the audience for making him into such a big character and Lucas's reaction to that made him write Darth Vader more into the story with ESB and ROTJ. The thing is that it works with ESB and ROTJ. It works how Darth Vader is just a mysterious character in ANH, it focuses more on him in ESB, and we truely learn who he is in ROTJ. In the prequels it is kind of the same idea with Palpatine/Sideous although the twist isn't believable because we knew who was who from the start of TPM. Anakin should not have been "space Jesus." Get rid of all this prophecy and midichlorian hogwash. Have Anakin be a normal person strong in the force. It just happens to run in his family. We don't need a scientific explanation for this and we don't need background on who his father was. You can leave that to the EU nerds.

Right now the PT is kind of a hybrid of the two, it tries to focus on too many things at once and accomplishes nothing. I think the story should have focused more about the rise of the Empire and Palpatine and less on Anakin. I would like the idea of Palpatine starting out in episode 1 as a genuinely good man and throughout the 3 films becomes a corrupt man. He is fluent in the force because was trained in the Jedi arts as a child though young adulthood, but dropped out to go into politics and was able to keep it a secret from the Jedi.

Having most of the characters return from the OT was a horrible idea. A list of characters/things that should have never been shown in the PT:

C3PO
R2D2
Boba Fett
Jango Fett
Baby Greedo
The Death Star
Moff Tarkin
Chewbacca
The Millennium Falcon, although very brief

I'm really surprised we didn't see a 10-year-old Han Solo winning the Millenium Falcon from a 10-year-old Lando in a card game in episode 3.

Tatoonie should not have been in the movie until episode 3 and it should have just been for the moment we see baby Luke delivered there to Uncle Owen and Ant Pheru? Even then we didn't really need to see them go into exile on Tatoonie, that is obvious enough in ANH. Instead of wasting time showing this in episode 3 they could use this time to flesh out a new idea. Episode 3 didn't have to be finished with every piece of the puzzle in place. They could have left the story with many years left to go before Obi Wan and Yoda go into exile. I think it would have been better to leave Anakin becoming Darth Vader a mystery and Padme having twins a mystery too so they are still surprises for future audiences.

Really what the prequels are to me is rough drafts experiments on a direction to take the story. If this material was then given to another writer/director to flesh out more it could really turn into something good. They could flesh the characters out more, they could focus in on the plot more, add more interesting editing/ideas to it, and remove things that don't work.

All the CGI madness doesn't work. They need to remove all of GL's ideas of entertianing special effects, and go back to more practical ideas used in the OT. They need to add some practicality to their moments of action, lightsaber fights, and space battles. As clumsy as the ANH lightsaber battle was it was still more entertaining to watch than any of the prequel lightsaber battles. The camera focused in more in on the characters facial expressions and they were actually fighting with a sense of urgency and strategy. In the PT it's just blank faces swing at 100 mph doing flawless choreography. In the OT, as clumsy and unbelievable as the action was, you did get a sense of strategy going on whether it was shooting at Stormtroppers, a battle in space, or a lightsaber fight, the action was far fetched but not too far fetched that you were taken out of the picture. In the PT it is just whatever GL feels like putting up on the screen. Riding a phony looking CGI lizard? A huge nonsensical space battle, jumping into a crowd of armed robots, none of it makes any sense, it's all just there because George Lucas said so.

The editing that RedLetterMedia brought up intrigued me. He mentioned how the editing is "predictable and uninteresting", using dropped lightsabers as an example. But I was hoping he would go more in depth with that. I know establishing shots is another problem with the films, there are too many of them. As far as other editing goes, I really don't know how it is "predictable and uninteresting". Could some of you help explain this to me?
