Here's the Danish cover scan of ANH . Zoom in and note the date at the very bottom of the movie description. Note also the movie's running time (despite the language that these are written up in, these two details are still quite distinct). For those of you curious about the other two films, the link to the main news story (also in Danish or German) is here.

In other news, I can't believe I fell for Moore's depiction of Canada in BFC. But then, I guess the guy's so deceptive that everybody falls for a little something in his films.

I know i bash GL quite a bit on here, and i can admit its purely out of frustration for his attitude towards his fans...
It doesnt seem like he respects us anymore...
after all we are simply asking for him to release his original work... and he's pretty much flipping us the bird....
i think i just feel disrespected after supporting all of his versions of SW over the years and dont see why i should give him respect in return...
you see what i mean?
I completely agree, Luke. He's responsible for creating this massive universe we've all come to love unabashedly, and yet now, after all the success we've helped to give him, he is basically telling us that that universe that we grew up with is not the exact same universe he has in mind. It's frustrating, and it makes it quite easy to bash GL. What can we do?

I noticed on your profile you're from Canada, so I guess this negates Michael Moore's presumption that Canada is safe.

Star Wars Trilogy 2004 Release
if you read the first paragraph in that article tell me what you see?Quote
Fox Home Entertainment have revealed some new details on the Region 1 DVD release of the Star Wars Trilogy due to arrive in separate widescreen and full screen editions on 21st September 2004 with a retail price of $69.98 each. The four-disc sets will present the original trilogy with digitally remastered THX Certified transfers and new English Dolby Digital 5.1 EX Surround mixes alongside the original English, Spanish and French Dolby Surround tracks.
well i think its about time you guys got rid of the name DVDTimes and called yourself worst feeliing dvd site in the world because guess what dipshots?
its not the "original trilogy"!!!!!
!!!!
what the shell is wrong with these people?
do they have their heads so far up their butts that they don't notice the difference...
im not even gonna continue with what i was gonna say cuz this is the like 100th time ive seen a site reporting this release as the OT...
tell someone start a thread where we can just post links to other sites calling it the OT...
i guarentee we would have over 10 pages in less than a week
Remeber, by "Original Trilogy", they mean "A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi" as oposed to the "Prequel Trilogy" TMP ATOC and ROTS.
It has nothing to do with the version. It just means that they aren't the prequels. I assume your probably intellignet enought to figure that out on your own, but just feel like complaining about the changes anyway.
Shoot. Thanks for pointing that out, Chaltab. I thought I saw Original Versions when I read that, even though my misgivings still remain. I wouldn't have commented with as big of a rant as I did had I looked at it right. This release just has 'massive confusion' written all over it.

Bob (wearing a ROTS t-shirt): That's right Jerry. You see, Mr. Lucas decided to change the original trilogy adding some crappy CGI and more scenes of Greedo shooting Han Solo first, and decided to vanish with the original, classical movies we all loved.
Jerry: Well, we have a surprise for you. Directly from the Skywalker Ranch, he agrred to be with us today... here's George Lucas!
(George Lucas comes in, people boo him. Bob gets up and picks up a chair)
Bob: You muthaf(BEEP)ka!! You c(BEEP)ksucking piece of s(BEEP)t! (throws chair at GL)
GL: Oh, so you want a piece of me? You want a f(BEEP)ing piece of me? Well f(BEEP)k you too, you fat loser! I screwed with your f(BEEP)ing childhood, yes, and I'm proud of it! F(BEEP)k you all! I'm from hollywood, I have the brains!
That's great.

I knew what you had in mind, and I think it's a great idea. I was just lamely trying to be humorous.

It would have to be a heated intervention...there's no other way around it...we need him to admit that he has a problem, and a boxing ring setting, complete with announcer, might help a bit.

I am under the impression that he looked at the Trilogy in '94 when he started on the SE and thought to himself "Hmm... how could I make this absolutley suck?"
maybe it was an experiment... he thought he movie was flawless and then he said one day... "i have all these fans tied around my finger... are they gonna hate anything i do? Lets find out shall we.."
and the SE was born!
Probably not too far off the mark.

And I'm sure it goes on and on and on...I sympathize with you, Luke. If they called these the 2004 Special Editions and were marketing them as such, it wouldn't be nearly as big of a deal. But first, we got the news that only the Special Editions were to be released, then after awhile, Lucasfilm was simply advertising them as the Star Wars Trilogy, releasing action figures from Hasbro that are supposed to be like the Vintage lines but aren't. Now everyone's just lazily calling them the Star Wars Trilogy, which, while I know most consumers aren't going to give much of a damn about, is still misleading and annoying for those of us that know that there are umpteen versions out there. I've thought about it a bit over the past few days, and I've realized that I don't hate the upcoming release per se. What I hate is A) Only the new versions are to be released, and B) That Lucasfilm is covering up that fact by using the simple 'Star Wars Trilogy' tag. Though I did learn that they're not just now becoming lazy. I didn't find myself buying the trilogy until 2002 (much to my regret), and the set that I have (obviously SE) is just labeled 'The Star Wars Trilogy,' with no reference to the SE changes anywhere. So it's not a new exclusion unfortunately, though still a pain.

You think Smith would help?
I'm not too familiar with Smith's work, but I do know that he's a huge Star Wars fan, and has made Star Wars references in most (if not all) of his films. I've heard that Smith allegedly made a couple of the Phantom Edits floating around out there (not that it's true, and not to say that I didn't misread it, but if it's true, it means he isn't a Lucas worshipper, not a huge fan of the Prequels, and hence probably supports the release of the Originals).

You're absolutely right, Jetrell, and welcome to the forums! Some of us have links to our own blogs in our signatures (myself for instance, and Bossk as well). There are literally millions of these things floating around, ranging from ones dealing with technology, to news and political commentary, to ones written by teenage girls talking about Orlando Bloom.

My question is this: since I live in a college dorm, I'm thinking of clearing up the clutter, such as my TV. I know there are TV tuner cards that can be bought for PCs, but in addition to using my computer as a mere television, I'd also like to be able to alternate between viewing my TV, VCR, and Playstation 2 on my monitor...if it's possible, that is. I have no idea if it is, and while I could've went on a wild search through Google or Yahoo, I decided I'd see if anyone on the forums could answer my question. So, is there an A/V item (or items) that would allow me to plug in my TV, VCR, and PS2 to my computer, for the purpose of viewing them through the monitor? And what do these products typically go for?
Thanks for your help!

It really is a spectacular film, and I'm sure I love it also because I'm half Arab (my father was born and raised in Lebanon). The acting is fantastic (O'Toole is a marvelous actor) the battle scenes are exciting, and every frame looks like it's a painting. Not to mention the amazing picture quality and color rendition that comes from 70mm filmstock. 70mm blows everything else out of the water. Not even HD can come close to it.
Interestlingly enough, even though it's almost 4 hours long, there's not a single female speaking role.
You're right, now that I think about it. Another movie lacking female speaking roles is Gettysburg. It's 4 hours 14 minutes long and there's only one line by a female extra ('I thought the war was in Virginia').
I just asked because I think Lawrence of Arabia is an amazing film. Everything about it is epic and spectacular and Peter O'Toole was definitely robbed of an Oscar for his performance (if the Academy has any sense of fairness they'll give him a Best Supporting Actor award for Troy). I would say it definitely has a claim as the greatest film ever made.

I'll get a few titles that would be worth it, such as Lawrence of Arabia, Star Wars, titles that would actually be an improvement. DVD is a spectacular format and I see no reason to dump it all for a new format that will soon be obsolete in another 5-10 years.
Same here. I've gotten a majority of the movies that I really want on DVD, and I'm not about to throw them out the window.
