Forget about the ridiculous and unnecessary changes...
Time

Yeah, I usually re-watch commentary, but I don't think I've gone back to those since 2004.  It always annoyed me too that the commentators weren't together.  And are we really supposed to believe none of them overlapped?  So, no, their words probably aren't even in synch with the video, which means that it's just a bunch of random words put over the movie.  But I do recall Kershner being very entertaining to listen to, at least.

I don't know.  I just don't see Godfather Part III as at all comparable to ROTJ.  Jedi is something of a rehash, something of a phone-in, where the characters fill their parts, and the only really good stuff is at the end.  It felt like an obligation:  to tie everything up.  Godfather Part III was something completely different from the first two films.  It felt fresh, while ROTJ felt a bit tired.

How would YOU re-do the prequels?

Well, considering the Force, lightsabers, and mind tricks were all explained in the first movie, they really didn't need expositing again.

But according to Lucas, we're supposed to watch the movies in "Saga order." So then why would most stuff be explained only in Star Wars? Could it be that Lucas really made the series to be watched 4-6, 1-3?

That's a big reason why I would recommend a newcoming to see the OT first.

Exactly.  That's my point.  Despite Lucas's claims of what he wanted, he clearly made the films to be watched in a certain order: originals followed by prequels.  Granted, a few of his changes subvert this (like the end of ROTJ), but he's really serving two masters and doesn't really know what he's doing.

Since you bring it up, the 3PO droid factory thing really bothered me.  I suppose I shouldn't be looking too deeply into this, but it drives me crazy.  Am I really supposed to believe that both his head and body operate with independent power sources?  It's also totally inconsistent.  If both parts can survive in the droid factory, why did he shut down when blasted apart in ESB?  Sure, he lost some limbs, but essentially it was his head dismembered from his torso.  In context, shouldn't seem like a big deal, unless we're to believe that his main power unit is located in his arm.

Just ridiculous.  I should make a video on that...

Okay, I need some advice.

Soooo... a gorgeous internet persona has frequently approached me for "sex-having," as I'm sure you've all noticed by now.  Now, I went ahead and gave her my credit card number like she asked, because apparently that's tradition in her country.  And so is the debt I'm now in.  Don't worry, it's totally legit, she assured me it was.  So I was supposed to meet her at a park tonight for the sex-having, but when I arrived, all I saw was a man holding a giant dildo, so I decided to go home.  I talked to her later, and she assured me that she had simply gotten lost, so we're going to meet again in a public restroom behind the local Applebee's.

So my question is... should I get the iced tea or the water with lemon at Applebee's?

I'm only not taking offense to that because it seems that bubalove doesn't go for female avatars.  Or at least that's what I'll tell myself... every night... when I'm alone... and sobbing.

I don't have a female avatar. I have a very masculine Cylon as my avatar. Ziz has an avatar featuring a homosexual droid with a golden erection, and yet he gets buba lovin'.

I was referring to myself obviously!  And... of course it's real.  Why wouldn't it be?

Damnit!  I'm still unloved...

EDIT:  I mean, ohhhh, look at this!  I'm loved too!  I too got a private message!  I'm going to show you all right here!

Dearest Gaffer Tape,

I saw your profile at (originaltrilogy.com), and you seem to be the sexiest person on that boards, so much more so than C3PX, which is why he hasn't gotten any private messages.  But you're so sexy that I can't keep my hot, well-manicured hands off of you.  We should totally have with sex and stuff.  Because you're so hot.  Please reply with me of your e-mail address, which is essential for with sex-having.  Oh, and also your credit card number, for that too is necessary for the sex-having.

Sincerely,
GorgeousWoman3334253353

See, I'm loved!

I don't know.  It works for me.  This may seem like sacrilege to even say, but while I loved Part II, it hardly took the plot of the first film in a new direction (for the Michael stuff... obviously the young Vito sections were new, even though they were intended to parallel Michael... even though it was being transplanted from the original novel whereas the Michael parts were original).  To clarify to avoid flaming, I love Part II.  I love what they did with Fredo, I love what they did with the relationship of Michael and Kay.  However, to me, it seems like an extension of the first movie which already established that a good person could turn evil.  In Part II, we just see the evil person continuing to do evil stuff.  He gets worse, and, in effect, his life falls down around him because of that, but, like you said, ChainsawAsh, he didn't change.  There was no development.  It was just Michael doing stuff.  And again, it was stuff I found entertaining and fascinating, but it was just Michael continuing to be Michael.

Granted, it could have ended there, and it would have been a satisfying end.  But I just found it so fascinating that Part III took Michael in a completely different direction.  I don't think it's at all out of character that an older Michael might finally see the error of his ways and attempt to rectify his life and his legacy.  People do that all the time.  But I also loved the futility of it, the, "Just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in!" that no matter what he does, he can't escape his sins, and he still ends up just as alone as he did at the end of the second movie despite his genuinely good intentions.

And, yes, Sofia Coppola didn't help the movie too much, but she certainly wasn't a deal-breaker for me.
