Which order to watch the films?? - Dilemma!!!

*coughs up milk, some of which comes up my nose*  What?  The DVD's not that bad?  Have you compared Revisited to the 2004 DVD?  I know you're a woman, but surely you have more discerning tastes than that, Gaffer?

I'm not talking about either Revisited or the 2004 DVDs.  I'm talking about the original version.  And no matter what the quality, watching the original is always preferable to anything else.  The GOUT isn't great, but it's certainly watchable.

Why we hate the prequels at OT forum.
Time

Maybe that was just an assumption my part, but all of those little elements we get in the OT (that one's a master, one's a knight; that one is the superior of the other; that one teaches in different ways; that one might have had the skillset to train Anakin while the other didn't) were very important because, as zombie says in his book, Yoda was basically just a replacement Obi-Wan.  They were, in essence, the same character.  So you really needed those distinctions to separate them.  But for some reason in the PT, all of those are done away with.  Obi-Wan becomes a Jedi Master, so he's basically of the same rank as Yoda.  Yoda fights with a lightsaber, so he basically does the same job as Obi-Wan.  They're both wise Jedi.  They both seem perfectly capable of training Anakin... or they both seem equally indept depending on which view you want to take.  Really, the only differences that remain are superficial.  Obi-Wan is a human, Yoda is a little green thing.  Obi-Wan speaks with a British accent.  Yoda speaks like Time magazine back in the 1930s.

Thank you.  I think I'm good for now, but I do appreciate the standing offer.

If someone wouldn't mind doing me a favor... When I've tried to play this particular video back on YouTube, it has this bizarre habit of starting playback at 0:02 unless I manually adjust the playhead back to 0:00.  I've never seen another video do this before, and it makes the drum beat at the beginning sound rather clipped.  Is this just happening to me?  Or did it happen to anyone else?

In the OT Jedi seems to mean more than just Jedi Knight.

I always felt the same way.  And it was for that reason that it somewhat annoyed me in ROTS when Obi-Wan was made a Jedi Master.  That seemed to come out of left field.  Obi-Wan was a Jedi Knight.  He fought.  He was a warrior.  He had been in wars in his youth.  Yoda was a Jedi Master.  He was a teacher.  He was a philosopher.  He was more spiritual.  It seemed an important distinction to me as a child, but that distinction was done away with in the prequels.

Last movie seen
Time

That's not what I've heard.  The whole movie is on YouTube (not the best gauge of human intelligence, I know), and you should see some of the comments there.  I showed it to my mother, and, while she eventually came to marginally enjoy it, she complained that it was boring.  Of course, she also initially complained, "I hate old movies," to which I replied, "It's only three years older than you!"

Anyway, I do get something of an impression that it's one of those things film buffs "have" to see, like a textbook or bad tasting medicine, that's really good for you but not has to be forced down.  Again, I just don't get it.  Not only do I find it extremely educational and fascinating to analyze, I find it genuinely enjoyable to watch.

CNN writer blasts Star Wars in 3D (and other stuff George's changed)
Time

"And I think the only group complaining about the changes are those from that first batch of people who saw it originally. Kids now won’t know the difference, so in another 10 or 20 years, that will be a completely moot point."

Ugh, this comment from the author makes me facepalm.  Doesn't he understand that that reasoning is exactly what makes the point all that more important?  That Lucas has so successfully rewritten history that people are no longer going to "know the difference" isn't a big deal to him?

And don't think I hadn't noticed.  ^_~

But since you're here, I wanted to thank you for making that black and white logo for me.  I remember at the time I had said that that hadn't been what I meant, but as soon as I thought about making this video, it immediately sprang to mind as being perfect for the "A FUSION Quickie" logo... and then I couldn't find it.  I could have sworn I had saved it, but I guess I didn't, so I scoured my PM box and this thread until I finally came across it.
