Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

Hmm, I guess I can understand the reasoning (not that I necessarily agree with it, but studios have hated rental places from the get go), but it does seem rather shady to not even redo the menus or anything, but rather let you click the link only for it to say, "You want that feature?  You no can have that feature!"

Anyway, the point Frink is trying to make here is that, like it or not, online forums, and any social circle for that matter, have something of a pecking order.  New people who come in have to earn their place in the community, develop a rapport with the locals.  And when you have, then the occasional "calling people out" can be seen as more tolerable, depending on the circumstances.  But there's little that ruffles a social circle's feathers more than for the new guy to harass one of their own.  Even if it's justified, it's not at all a way for a newbie to earn his stripes.  Just like making a sexually charged comment to a close friend is funny but saying that same thing to a stranger might get you arrested.  It's all about building relationships.

ST:TMP...there is no suckage.

The whole conversation with Kirk and Spock about taking command seems to me to be a direct reference to Kirk's bumhurt of Decker in TMP something that wouldn't cross Spock's Vulcan mind.

TMP is much more epic and cinematic than the recent film and is about exploration both inner and outer which makes it more like the series to me than any of the other films.

The story samples a number of the classic episodes but so do some of the other films including TWOK which is more like a really good television movie than a piece of epic cinema.

Crap!  There's a Star Trek conversation going on, and I'm missing it!  I agree with pretty much all you say about TMP... but the problem is, the content is good, but the execution is piss-poor.  There's only about 45 minutes worth of movie there (which makes sense, considering it was converted from a television script), and the rest is just padding through special effects, slow, boring, several-minute long special effects sequences.  I remember the first time I watched it.  I made it through the overture well enough, but my jaw dropped when Kirk and Scotty go to the Enterprise.  Good lord!  The first 45 seconds (re: the clips they reused for Wrath of Khan) were amazing and epic.  It was when it went on for about three and a half minutes that my ability to stay conscious began to feel itself in jeopardy.  Sadly, it's a clear case of style over substance.  There's just not enough substance to balance itself against all the fluff.

"The Little Mermaid"

Easily my favorite Disney cartoon. I think Ariel is particuarly cute because they actually draw lines UNDER her eyes when she makes expressions. This makes her so much more... expressive than other Disney characters.

Same here.  Brings back memories too.  I was really into that movie when I was a little kid and it had first come out.

Interesting Tidbit from lucas before episode 1 started filming that gave a hint that the pt films were not given the care needed to be great

I'm not really sure how Bingowings is saying anything different from what I was saying, which is, "It was a bad idea for Lucas, but not necessarily a bad idea in itself, and not because of accusations of 'being cheap' but because Lucas is a broad idea man who gets jumbled up in the details and needs people around him to help him formulate those ideas in a coherent way."

No, because that is based on the assumption that Lucas would be so devoid of competence that he'd need all the members of his crew to constantly challenge his ideas.  And in 1997, the general populace had little reason to believe that.  Sure it's possible that any good director is only good because his subordinates are substituting all of his talentless schlock with actual good ideas, but do you really think that the Key Grip saved Christopher Nolan from making Inception a musical comedy about the holocaust?

Oh, and that reminds me.  Aren't you ignoring me? ^_~
