A possible version of Han Solo in ROTS
Time
I'm not sure how that would have any impact on Tatooine-stationed Jabba the Hutt. The Wookiees are warriors. Chewbacca didn't really do anything to stand out in that battle. He didn't even really fight in it. He just carried Yoda on his back. I would think that Chewbacca's reputation would come more from his smuggling days than anything else. And I really don't like the thought that Chewbacca would think, "Oh, Jedi. It's time to do the right thing and lend a helping hand." I prefer to think that Chewbacca's motives were more or less Han's since they're both in the same game: "We need money. These guys can pay it. We take on passengers." No need to complicate things. Chewbacca in ROTS was an unmitigated disaster. And am I the only one who thinks the "new" Chewbacca costume didn't look anything like Chewbacca aside from his "wardrobe"?

Lucas was still reworking the turn scene after post production!

Staying with Palpatine might have made it seem more realistic. I mean, I know the name of the game was conflict, but the way it worked now just made him seem too wishy-washy, and when he made his final decision, it was without any basis. So Palpatine spends some time in the movie trying to get Anakin to trust him, and it pretty much works for some apparent reason until he admits he's a Sith. Then Anakin does a complete 180, "I have to do the right thing, and you have just been manipulating me," understanding of the situation. Big hero man, he stupidly leaves Palpatine alone after telling him, "I'm bringing my buddies to take you down," to go and bring in the calvary, complete with his idiotically funny line, "I've just learned a terrible truth. I think the Chancellor is a Sith Lord." He even volunteers to go with them and help take him down. But Mace says no, so then Anakin thinks, "Darn, I'm an idiot. I should go and stop this." I'm not qute sure what it was he was trying to accomplish initially when he waltzes back into Palpatine's office, but he ends up screwing himself for no apparent reason and then realizing all along he was meant to be evil with that extremely evil line, "What have I done?!"

I think any change from that, aside from the two of them dressing up like clowns and making balloon animals could have been an improvement from what we got.

I'm very glad he wasn't around because it's another element to shrink the universe. Plus, Solo's dismissal of the Force to Ben is already in question enough because of Chewbacca working with Yoda, but if Han worked with Yoda?! Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

"I don't feel I'm a very good writer, but I think I do it better than most people." Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb!!!

So, to get back to the original point of this thread, do you think that the original version of the turn was handled better than the current version? With Anakin standing there? I'm not entirely sure myself, since I don't know all the details. I can forsee a way that it could have made his turn a bit more convincing, having him already confused enough to stay with Palpatine rather than run off. But that, too, would depend on other scenes in the movie that would set up the reason why he stayed behind.

Don't stress yourself out over it. I probably would have found it myself by now, but my girlfriend made me promise to wait for her to watch the special features since we're sharing this whole Serenity experience together. Sigh, it's driving me crazy, though. At least I managed to sneak a peek at the Fruity Oaty Bar commercial, or I might not have made it. ^_^

Yeah, I don't see why you'd feel the need either, since that would mean you'd be dead. Besides, you have your custom title, so it wouldn't change anything anyway, would it?

NO, MY CUSTOM TITLE WOULD STAY THE WAY THAT IT IS. BOSSK USED TO HAVE A CUSTOM TITLE. IT WAS "HIRED GUN."

Well, that's what I meant. Jedi Spirit wouldn't mean anything to you because you'll just keep the same custom title you made for yourself. So 10,000 posts would simply be 10,000 posts, right?

EDIT: Ooh, sorry, no need for me to post that. I thought you were disagreeing rather than answering. My mistake.

I was actually about to say that. And that was the cool thing for me. From watching the Firefly DVDs, I learned that they had an upstairs and a downstairs set. The first time I watched Serenity, I knew they had to recreate the set for the movie, and at that part where Simon follows Mal downstairs, the wipe completely fooled me, and I thought, "Wow, were they able to do a two-story set for this movie?" It was only when I watched the commentary, and Joss pointed out the wipe that I ever noticed it.
