But, honestly, though, the one about the finale, assuming you know what happens to Jadzia in season 6, and you already know what happens to Worf, doesn't really contain any spoilers. But, yeah, you should definitely stay away from "Season 7 Jake."
That aside. I wholeheartedly agree about the treatment of Riker transporter-clone. Thomas has the worst luck in life. I would've liked it if in Death Wish eppy Q instead brought Thomas there and, he stayed there on Voyager. I mean Harry was the one most crap got piled on there. He'd act as a buffer for Thomas I'm sure. Janeway wouldn't off him since, she seemed to respect Riker.
Also, during my rewatch of that Cardassian science officer eppy I kind of got distracted via the fact that it's Captain Lockley from Babylon 5 under that makeup. I was getting a snack during the credits so I was like "That's LOCKLEY! No it isn't Lockley." In my head all throughout rewatching it. After the eppy I confirmed my suspicions. That said, even distracted, I thought that it was a really bad move to turn it into an alien mating ritual thingy. Essentially I agree with you.
Yes the Kai thing was poorely handled. At the time of initial airing I just excepted it though... I was a kid... Yes that's my excuse er, reason!

Re: Trill Punishment it's also contradictory to the earlier TNG Trill eppy. Where Dr. Crusher was all ready and, willing to continue on the relationship through three hosts IIRC. Only thing that stopped it was Dr. Crusher couldn't see past the new woman host to the person she lusted over. No mention of possible death. None of that. It's also hypocritical that Dax's friendships like Sisko are okay to be carried over but, not romantic entanglements. I mean c'mon the society's going to sentence them to death for falling in love, again, in brand new hosts, looking completely beyond the physical. However, you want your casual friends to stay by you. Oh sure go right ahead! He can even visit the sacred pool area thingy. Kind of puts the whole Trill-symbiont institution in a new light. I mean they say "we don't have enough symbionts for the population that are compatible." Then, "Yeah, we death sentence the Trill symbionts who retain their previous lovers... What? Why you looking at me like that?"
Holy crap! I didn't even think about that TNG episode! You're right. This is a little bit off topic, but I'm sure you know that the altered the Trill makeup for DS9 due to Terry Farrell's sensitive skin. But I think it would have been nice if they'd included some Trill who resembled the one we saw in TNG. It would help explain away some of the inconsistencies if it was just said that there are different races of Trill who look different and react to the symbiont in different ways.
And, yeah, I always thought it was hypocritical that she couldn't "rejoin" with Lenara, but it was perfectly fine that she could keep her best friend. I thought about mentioning that, but I figured the video was long enough already. =P
I guess I should say that I really do enjoy the episode overall. In fact, most of the moments I mention come from episodes that are otherwise pretty competent.
Valiant um, no comment. I simply haven't watched that episode in full yet. I missed it's initial airing and, only watched your review of it. I also missed profit and, lace... Um, will I see two bad episodes at the same time or, will I just skip them again? That is the question...

It's hard for me to say, honestly. Not that I really have my finger on the pulse of general DS9 opinion, but it does seem that my opinion on the matter is somewhat aberrant to the norm. Profit and Lace almost always seems to top worst DS9 episodes lists, but I've never seen Valiant on one. I don't think I can explain why I dislike Valiant more than I already have. As for Profit and Lace, I suppose part of it will come in how much you enjoy/appreciate the Ferengi episodes to begin with. If you already don't care for them, I don't see Profit and Lace being the one that's going to win you over, and you'll probably hate it even more than the other Ferengi episodes. But I do like those episodes, and I do like that it helps tie up the Moogie sexual revolution plot line. I probably agree with the makers of the episode that it goes a little bit too far into the camp, gender-bender slapstick routine and maybe deserved to be a little more serious. But I'm honestly a fan of gender-bending plotlines to begin with, so I found it a really funny piece of fluff. Had the entire Moogie subplot been nothing but that, I probably wouldn't have liked it. But as just a silly episode of Quark as a woman fending off amorous advances with just a hint of family issue subtext, I think it works okay.
Worf and, Quark escaping punishment. I kind of get the feeling of executive meddling there. I don't know why but, I do... Gut feeling is all.
Hmm, I don't know if I'd call it "executive meddling" other than the writers sorta backing themselves into a corner. Particularly with the Quark example. You can't NOT have him on the show, so... I guess just sweep it under the rug and hope no one notices. And once again, I did like this episode. I pretty much like anything that explores the Trills.
As for Worf, I'd probably have to just chalk it up to not having enough time to deal with it while wrapping up the series, and the whole issue of them having multiple writers working on this long story arc. That's why I would have given it a pass probably if not for the Klingon fans jumping all over me for me daring to question their laws. =P
RE: Worf deadbeat dad. I'm a bit ambivalant about this myself.
In a way, I am too. They certainly earn big points for EVENTUALLY bringing Alexander back and acknowledging that Worf had screwed up. Those episodes were good. And if Worf had never been a character on TNG, and this was the first we'd seen of him, I also probably wouldn't have called it a stupid idea--just an interesting character flaw. I guess I just objected to building all this up over on TNG only to completely flip-flop Worf when he got to DS9.
As for what I personally feel is the lowest DS9 moment. I disagree with you only because I know more about the behind the scenes. I feel DS9's lowest moment is what started it in the first place. They essentially ripped off JMS's Babylon 5 pitch and, shoehorned it into the Star Trek universe.
Heh, what makes you think I wasn't aware of that already? You assume too much. I know about all the controversy. But I don't really know anything about Babylon 5 enough to make that judgment for myself. I've never even seen Babylon 5. So I don't think it would be fair of me to comment on it. If I was a Babylon 5 fan, and the theft is true, I probably would be pissed. But I don't really have a suitable frame of reference, other than just the general knowledge and statements from JMS.
