Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

Hardly a backlash, there are "fans" who constantly whine about the special editions, but its always been like that. The only thing in the announcement that dissapointed me was the awful covers, other than that, role on the 12th September.

This one is my favorite.  What with the "fans" in quotes, and whatever "role" there apparently is to play on September 12th.  Well, at least he hates the covers too.

"I helped pick out the box art for the BluRay set!"

"The haters will always hate, and in the end, they will buy the BluRay."

The war of OOT fans vs Saga fans will continue for another generation :)

Ah.  Well, now I know who to place some blame on for those terrible covers.  And, no, Katie.  I will hate.  But I won't always hate provided your father decides to start treating me like a valuable customer at some point in the future.  And I can guarantee I most certainly will not be buying the BluRay.  And you can take that to the bank.  Oh, wait, no you can't because I won't be giving your company any money!

Ugh, those covers are horrible!  Too busy, too crowded, each too focused on a character it shouldn't be.  And who thought it would be a good idea to shove the rest of the main characters into a single corner?  The OT one is slightly better, and Darth Vader is certainly a better focal point than Yoda, but it almost seems like they forgot that Luke exists at all.

"Um... we're out of space!  Where do we put Luke?"

"Who?"

"Luke Skywalker... the main character of the movies..."

"Oh, that son guy?  Eh, let's just throw him on Darth Vader's cheek."

"Um... it's crooked."

"Sorry!  Time to break for lunch!  Print it!"

Gaffer Tape's YouTube Reviews of Awesome Candy-Creating Goodness! (The Facts of Life/Star Trek III Conspiracy!)

Yeah, I'm not sure why I didn't include the Defiant's destruction.  Or at least its immediate replacement.  I do recall being upset and shocked when it was destroyed (which was a good thing), but then rolling my eyes when they immediately brought in a new one.  The writers even admitted they wanted to have it both ways:  shock and awe by destroying it but still needing to have it in the final battle.  I guess I couldn't feel too bothered about it simply because... it happens all the damned time in Star Trek!  Still, I kinda wish they'd at least kept the name Sao Paulo, just so it could seem like it might not be the exact same ship, same model, same set.

Also, I find myself quite humored that you didn't realize that First Contact is set during DS9.  So is Insurrection, actually.  During season 5 and season 7, respectively.  If you pay attention, there are a few episodes early in season 7 where Worf doesn't appear, and that's apparently supposed to make it believable that he could be with the Enterprise during the timeframe of Insurrection.

You hated Take Me Out to the Holosuite?!  I love that episode so, so, so much (which probably explains why I used footage from it so heavily in my video)!  DEATH TO THE OPPOSITION!

But, yes, "forced" is exactly how I would describe "Valiant."  I actually ended up cutting a line from the script to my Valiant video saying that it reminded me of a Three's Company script.  There's a wacky misunderstanding/poor communication that anyone with two brain cells could easily resolve, but they don't, and that's how we have conflict.  Only in this case we're actually supposed to take it seriously.

And finally, I am also humored that you extrapolated what about "Season 7 Jake" I was referring to.  Glad I could make your imagination dance! =P

The Big ESB Reveal
Time

I personally think it's a bit silly to "preserve" the surprise in the prequels.  I mean, that's ostensibly what they're all about:  explaining how Anakin became Darth Vader.  So leaving out that teeny-tiny detail would make them completely devoid of whatever point they were supposed to have.  And also... again, they're prequels.  Despite what George says, they're designed and structured to be watched after the original movies, so there is no surprise to preserve.  Anyone who is watching the prequels should already be extremely grounded in the events of the original trilogy.  If you're watching them 1-6, you're doing it wrong. =P
