Is it wrong that Prohibition was my favorite constitutional amendment? Is it wrong that I have a favorite constitutional amendment? Well, anyway, I think it was good in theory, if not in actual practice. But I live in a college town (you know, being in college), and I could do with quite less drunk people around here. If this was the Things We Hate thread, I'd probably say I hate drunk people (even though I don't hate the people, but it would be the things we hate thread, so it would fit), but it's not, so I'll just say I love sober people. ^_^

If you think she's annoying, then you shouldn't go out with her. I mean, how can you have a basis for relationship if you can't stand being around her? And even if you are going for the *groan* action, I don't see how it would be any good if she was constantly getting on your nerves the whole time. Find someone you're more compatible with, and don't give into shallow urges.

i wore my new boots today. they were pulling down my socks and pissing me off. don't you hate it when that happens? or when you wear heels 3 days in a row and your feet feel like they are about to fall off? ahh the things we women do to look good...

Actually, yeah, I do know where you're coming from (for once...) as I have worn heels for four nights in a row last year around Halloween when my school peformed The Rocky Horror Show.

Hey. Stop looking at me like that! I won the costume contest!

Yeah, and I'm sure that contribution to society will go down in the history books right next to the invention of the A-bomb and the Gettysburg Address...

I'm extremely against censorship and cover up, but this is one person I wouldn't mind seeing erased from historical records completely.

You know, as strange as it might sound, I saw this coming when I posted that.

Sigh, this is pissing me off how I keep doing this, but I'm going to have to side with Adam on this one. Even though it's something I strongly believe in, I am rather curious if everyone will attack me as strongly as Everescent and company have been attacking Adam, or if this reaction stems from the fact that everyone hates Adam. Now, I'm not going to go running around telling people who don't want to hear about my bodily functions, because I'm fully aware that most people don't want to hear about those sorts of things, and, at the moment, I really don't feel like discussing them anyway. But all the taboos in our societies do greatly annoy me. This is actually a rather recent discovery that I made. I just sort of stepped back and looked at myself and others, and I realized that we do a lot of silly things and have a lot of silly inhibitions for no apparent reason. We're too image conscious, too self-conscious, and embarrassed too easily. Girls feel the need to cover their faces in makeup because they don't think their natural face is attractive enough. The frequency of plastic surgery is on the rise. It's all just so stupid. That's pretty much all I have to say.

And, Everescent: when we "hippies" refer to "the man," we're referring to those in charge of society, not those who are downtrodden. At least get your terms right before you start the verbal bashing. ^_^

And just to prove that these are my own feelings, and I'm just suddenly Adam's protector: Adam, you acted damned stupid for harassing HLF, and I think trying to put Yoda in the original Star Wars movie is one of the dumbest ideas I've heard.

The end.

Honestly, I found HLF's posts to be just as annoying, just in a different way than Adam's posts.

Her posts sometimes get on my nerves, too, but I was just speaking in general terms. But neither she nor Adam annoy me to the point that I'd really want either of them to leave. I guess I'm just too nice of a guy. ^_~

Oh, believe me, I very much know what you mean, Shim. But since this does involve Adam, and because of the nature of the conflict, I am trying to look at this through all different kinds of filters. Like, for example, if someone other than Adam had done something like this, would it have been taken as seriously? Since, Adam, and I'm trying to put this as delicately as possible, often evokes the wrath of many other posters here and has had a track record of getting himself in trouble, especially in these kinds of situations, the effect might be more extreme towards him than towards others, where it might simply be taken as a joke. And I'm not saying that attitude is necessarily wrong, based on his track record. But to use as a counter-example, what if the situation had been reversed, and HLF had been saying those things to Adam (completely hypothetical, so please no one get offended)? HLF also has a reputation of posting things of a sexual nature, but they are generally perceived in a much more comedic and much more acceptable light than the stuff that Adam posts. And, once again, I'm not going into the specifics of those posts, I'm simply stating what it is. So I'm prone to think that if HLF had been doing it, then people might have simply dismissed it. This is just speculation.

And, my other point, like I said in my previous point, is that it seems to me that females can get away with this kind of stuff more easily than males can. If a female talks flirtatiously, then it's perfectly fine, but if a male acts the same way, it suddenly becomes harrassment. And I really don't think that's fair.

The point of this post (if there is any) is not to point fingers at any poster (particularly not Adam or HLF, both of whom I've used as examples), or even to spread any type of influence. These are just the things I've been forced to think about today, and I figured I'd post some musings. Maybe encourage some people to think a bit outside the box. Hopefully. And hopefully, you can wade through all my disclaimers and backpeddling (used to keep anyone from being offended) and actually find something worth reading in this!

Girls are probably more likely to keep watching when "gorgeous, luscious, sexy, and hotttt" are used by them to describle the main character of two of them and a little kid and stupid humor are very present in the first.

But this is a rash generalization based on...well.....some very specific people. But it probably doesn't apply here.....tho I'd suspect its there a little bit.

Yeah, it really annoys me when people (especially girls, in this case) like the Star Wars prequels simply because Hayden is "so amazingly hawt!" That doesn't make them Star Wars fans. It just makes them vapid Barbie dolls who follow the latest trends.

When Sith came out last summer, my local paper ran an article on "Star Wars" "fans" (notice how I put both terms in quotations) and their collections. One of them listed was a girl, whose contribution was to have her wall covered with pictures and posters of Hayden Christensen. "She's not a Star Wars fan. She's a Hayden Christensen fan!" my girlfriend ranted. And I agree. Sigh, some people are so stupid.

Ohhh. Well, this is my brief addendum to what I wrote in the Things I Hate thread, since I hadn't been here yet and realized that the offending post had been quoted about five times. Yeah, that was extremely rude and harrassing. I'm just going to stay out of it from here on out and let the higher powers come to whatever decision they will.

EDIT: And, oh, yeah, YIYF, I'm bowing. Of course, I'm starting to catch up to you. ^_~

Wow, I hate that I pretty much missed out on what's going on here. I've read the HLF and boy toy threads, but whatever Adam said in Rankings is gone forever. And I suppose that's for the best. The best I can tell is that his constant harassment of HLF (which I admit was starting to get really annoying) finally caused a lot of people to go crazy. And he was starting to take it too far with the direct references to sex. Coming at it from an objective viewpoint (rather than an "I hate Adam, and he's being as ass, so let's get rid of him before it gets worse again," standpoint, nor is it coming from an anti-HLF sentiment either), I have seen HLF make many similar comments about males. To take both of them at their words, they're both just joking around. And while I admit that Adam definitely crossed the line, since HLF never directed any of her comments to any particular forum member as far as I've noticed, it still always seems to me that derogatory comments towards males are taken less seriously than those directed at females.

And I know it oftentimes seems like I stand up for AWK when his ass is in the fire. But that's simply because everyone's so accustomed to Adam doing something stupid, and also so ready to get a chance to kick him out again, that the mob mentality rushes forward as quickly as possible, so I feel the need to play devil's advocate. And if anyone remembers, I was pretty vocal about wanting to ban him the first time around. And I meant no disrespect to you either, HLF. But let's just try to play fair in terms of treating both genders with respect.

Well, even if it's not considered "inflammatory," I'm just worried that it'll become redundant. I mean, the majority of us here would probably never be nominated, since most of us came here for the same reason. It would just be the same one or two people every single month, I'm afraid.

EDIT: I'm not knocking the idea or anything. I'm just presenting my concern.

Hey, you can interpret that however you want to. But I do know from your previous posts that I feel the exact opposite about marriage than you do. Whereas you see a lifetime of imprisonment, I see a lifetime of willing connection to a person I'd never want to be without and who makes me feel as though I was missing a part of myself before I knew her.

I still don't agree with the "more power to him" aspect, even with the prequels, which I'm already pissed have been altered from their original versions. The "Let It Be... Naked" subject is entirely different since it is, simply, "Let It Be... Naked." It's not "Let It Be." I could walk into a CD store or Wal-Mart, for that matter, and pick up a copy of "Let It Be" if I wanted to. And that's never going to change. They're two separate albums. Paul didn't suddenly say, "Hey, this is your last chance to own Let It Be, so you'd better hurry before it's gone forever!" No. It's simply an alternate version. Not a replaced version. That's the difference.
