It is time!
It is time!
Well, I would argue that the special editions are anything but "the Star Wars films as they are," but I guess that would be arguing semantics.
Damn! I couldn't believe my eyes when I read this title. I had just been thinking about Taxi the other day too...
It certainly doesn't offend me in any way, but, yeah, I guess I can see that. I mean, it's not really like wearing glasses. The fact that he's furry is inherent to his species, so it's really more akin to Leia yelling, "Someone get this darkie out of my way!" and I can guarantee that wouldn't fly! =P
Well, since (some of) you demanded it, here it is. Of everyone who expressed an opinion on what video I should commentate... well, everyone had the same opinion:
Mighty Morphin Zyurangers...? Part 1 (Commentary)
It's all behind-the-scenesy!
And I don't know. I think I might sound a little rough on this one. I was a bit nervous starting out. But I did all five parts in the same night, and I got quite a bit more into it as I went along.
Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!
Bridesmaids. Amazingly managed to capture all of the cliches of a chick flick/romantic comedy and fuze them with the gross-out humor and physical comedy of a "man's" comedy. It was hysterical. And directed by the mind behind Freaks and Geeks to boot...
So I spent about 20 combined hours this weekend doing nothing but sensoring and sorting bras, and then I went to go see Bridesmaids yesterday with my old roommate. I think I'd probably have to wrestle a bear inside a volcano to ever feel manly again. =P
Ahh! So I guess the question I must now posit you is this: is the Body by Victoria bra or doubleofive more supportive?

I want to be friends with Gaff on Facebook. I will support you!
Aww, thanks. But you know what else provides support? The Body by Victoria bra! (they pay me every time I do this)
And, yeah, sure, you guys know my real name. I'm fairly sure I'm the only one in the entire world. =P
And, wow. Doing a GIS on "Karen Farris" brings up one from this site as its third result!
I guess no one told her she's going to die within the next hour-long programming block. I almost feel bad for her... almost.
Are you kidding? I'm so glad you're making Karen Ferris meme-tastic. It's the most useful thing she'll ever do!
Why is a Thursday weird?
So today was my first day on my new job at Victoria's Secret.
I'm just trying to throw some feelers out there and really trying to generate more content than I have been since this year started. I thought I'd been doing pretty well getting a large number of videos out in the latter part of last year, due to the contest (which will hopefully pick up eventually). But would anybody be interested in me doing commentary on my previous videos? I've thought about doing commentaries for certain videos for quite a long time, maybe since I first started but at least for a year now, but I've never done it. I guess I never thought anyone would be interested. But so, yeah, I am curious if anybody would be.
And for that matter, I guess I'm open to any suggestions in general (barring the squeaky chair and mentions of Inception since I did not bring my still unopened copy of the movie to Nashville with me). Thank you all for watching and putting up with me. ^_^
This thread is deceptively insane...
Well, a negative for what was for a long time (and should have remained that way) a deleted scene. Even as notorious a hoarder as Lucas apparently is, it's understandable that that scene might have been lost. I mean, look at the available footage we have of the Anchorhead scenes...
Heh, same here! To this day I can't think of one without the other!

Am watching the entire run of 'The New adventures of Superman' also known as 'Lois and Clark'.
Over here, when it was first broadcast in the 90s (the best era for television ever) they just called it the new adventures of superman, not Lois and Clark.
Hmmm...
From what I've read, they were afraid that non-American audiences wouldn't get that the title is a pun on Lewis and Clark... although I do not know why that would matter...
I do always find it odd the assertion that kids will love ROTJ and then grow out of it, or even Anchorhead's comment that kids won't notice the tonal shift as much since ROTJ was more focused towards them. At 9, I always found ROTJ to be a lesser film than the previous two. It always felt lighter and fluffier. It always felt somewhat tired to me. That's obviously not a judgment. I just always found it interesting. What's also interesting to me is that I always thought I was the only person who found Empire the superior film of the two. All of my friends growing up thought ROTJ was the best of the trilogy, and it was only when I started posting here that I found others that agreed with me. I guess that just means I was one of the few children who wasn't put off by the darker elements. Or maybe that 9 is just getting so close to the dividing line that it becomes a bit blurry. There were certainly film franchises I saw when I was younger (4-6) where I was put off by an installment I felt was darker and scarier.
Yay! No need to apologize. I'm just glad that you are/have been enjoying them. Making people smile. That's what it's all about. Making people happy. That's what I'm all about. And world peace, and a miniature puppy in every arm. That's what I'm all about. Now if there was only some way I could make this pay the bills... =P
Surprisingly enough, I've actually been enjoying Return MORE the past couple of times I watched it than I maybe ever have. That's not to say that I still don't think it's the weakest link of the trilogy, as I have since the first time I saw them when I was 9, but I do enjoy it.
I'm sure most people here know exactly what bugs me about ROTJ the most: the completely ridiculous, time-wasting, irrelevent to the plot Jabba the Hutt sequence at the beginning. Even then I still don't find it painful to watch, but I do shake my head at it. If they had found just ONE significant way to relate it to the plot of the rest of the movie, it might have been justified. But, no, it's just a huge half hour of one plot, and then we suddenly shift gears and have an hour and a half of a new, unrelated plot.
The Ewoks don't bother me. I actually really like them, and I cringe at the thought of it having been Wookiees instead. But I don't know if that's just because of the terrible Wookiee battle in ROTS, which was the point of the film where I entered a coma... on two separate theatrical viewings! But to get back to the point, I find the Ewoks entertaining and even somewhat plausible.
What I don't find as plausible is the idea of the subterfuge the Rebels took. Obviously the plan was to keep unnoticed until their strike on the shield generator, which was why they were so intent on killing any Imperial who saw them. But it does seem a bit unrealistic to me that no other Imperials would notice that a dozen of their troops are no longer calling in or that there were wrecked speeders all over the landscape. That should have ruined their element of surprise right then and there. But then again, since it was all just a trap to begin with, I suppose it's okay.
The middle section does drag a bit, but the final act makes up for it. It's Luke's story, plain and simple, and that's where the film really, finally shines, and it's probably the only part of the film that begins to measure up to the precedents set in the previous two movies.
Yeah, S_Matt, as others have said, the mono mix of Star Wars wasn't just a folded down version of either of the other mixes. It was an entirely different mix altogether, featuring different takes of lines, different sound effects, and even different voice actors! And considering that a large amount of theatres were only equipped for mono back then, it's the standard for what a huge chunk of the fanbase was introduced to. But it has never been included on a home release, so just "getting it from VHS" isn't very good advice.
