Ok Jay, I was going to stick with your forum. But that rude comment has decided things, this is my last post on O.T. com. Goodbye to everyone. Thanks for your support everyone. I shall miss you all. You know where to me.

It has begun: StarWars.com to celebrate original films

I have to respectfully disagree with that statement. There's far more to "better" than mere visual quality.

I submit that even an approximation of 1977 Star Wars is better than any previous home video release or theatrical re-release of the movie. It's all a matter of opinion, and perhaps those who think of the film as "Episode 4" or "A New Hope" won't care ....

.... but for many of us old folk who experienced the original Star Wars phenomena first-hand, even a half-baked job at presenting the opening of this movie the way it really opens will set the stage for an exceptional experience of Star Wars ... whether or not it looks any better than a laserdisc and whether or not anything that follows is likewise restored to its 1977 condition.

By virtue of the first 30 seconds alone, this will be the "best" Star Wars home release ever ... ahem, says me.

Part of me is inclined to agree with you.

Wow, that is pretty cool. At least they're doing some work with this. Even if it is just the menu, it makes me feel a little bit better.
If they committed to the menus - imagine what they committed to making sure the DVD bought out every detail on their master tape?

Well, it doesn't look like they spent much more than a few hours making these static menus. A day at most. So...

That's true, but do we really need animated menus that jump around for hours? The menus for the rest of the Star Wars DVDs get really old after a while, and they're by far not the worst offenders.

General Batman Talk
Time
I can see why, since they somehow, barely, kinda follow the same continuity. Well, the Burton films obviously do, as Returns directly references the first movie what with mentions of why Vicki left and Bruce joking with Alfred about him revealing the Batcave to Vicki. But then in Forever there's suddenly a new mansion and new Batcave and new Harvey Dent and a new Batman and a new everything. The only thing I can think of that might almost be a result of the previous movie is the new Batmobile, since it was beaten up in Returns. But I figure they probably would have had a new one anyway. And Batman and Robin had no story connection I can think of to the first two movies. I hated Gotham City in that movie, by the way, what with every building being precariously situated about 5,000 feet in the air. Remember the observatory? The building was in the hand of a giant statue reaching out over the city. Bleh. But anyway, yeah, by that time, the only continuities that linked the last two to the first two were Michael Gough and Pat Hingle.

EDIT: Yes. Burton was the producer of Forever.

Star Wars isn't the only one...

There are several different versions of OoT. The original version (known as 1.0) is found on all gold cartridges. It has the most glitches to exploit (which is the best part about that game) and contains all the original uncensored elements like the Fire Temple music and blood. Some very early gray cartridges are also 1.0. Those were probably made for release at the same time as the gold cartridges. So if you have a very early gray cartridge, you possibly have 1.0, and that's why you have blood in yours. 1.1 and 1.2 are later editions of the gray cartridge that have various alterations made to them. I'm not quite sure what the difference between 1.1 and 1.2 are.
