POLL: So Who Bought Them & Who Didn't? (the 2006 GOUT DVD release)
Time
I bought them. I was on the fence at first, but I'd rather buy these than wonder if they'll come out next year. And I'd rather buy these than spend more money on some stupid anniversary box set I definitely don't want. So it was more in my favor to do so. And it was also my farewell purchase, Lucas's severance pay if you will. Because I won't be buying any more re-releases of these movies (maybe I will if he releases the theatrical versions of the prequels).

Raul, you're crazy. I don't know what crappy movie theatres you go to, because last time I checked, theatrical editions were supposed to look good. In fact, film is supposed to look better than any kind of DVD. So why on earth would you possible think that these relatively decent quality DVDs are supposed to represent the "theatrical versions" and that anything better than a non-anamorphic Laserdisc master is supposed to be too good for the theatres? And what are you smoking to think that we can just satisfy our craving for good looking picture quality and an anamorphic transfer by watching the special editions?! No, I'm afraid you have no idea what you're talking about and know nothing about the technical side of this issue in the least.

Try to take it easy with the Lucas bashing.

Just me? You might want to look at his post prior to yours. I know what I speak of.

I didn't necessarily say it was just you, and I'm not arguing whether or not you know what you're talking about. As for me, I have to feel through this situation best as I can, and I honestly can say that, based on what I've seen, he hasn't done anything as bad as even JediRandy. But that's just my opinion. You know I'm not trying to fight against you, MeBe, right?

Agwa bah bhah?! What the hell happened to this thread? You know that Quote button we have to help reference posts? Stop using it! There is absolutely no need to have a post that is about 5 stories long! And could we please stop the political babble? Right wing conspiracy this! Bill Clinton that! Banana peel bullcrap! SHUT UP!!! I don't mind a thread developing a mind of its own and getting off its original topic, but this is just getting stupid.

Oh, come on, guys. This whole thing is silly. Go-Mer is certainly entitled to share his opinion without being bitched out. No movie is universally loved. Yes. Believe it or not, it is indeed possible that some people did not like the Star Wars movies. Gasp. But it's true.

As for Gomer, it's impossible to compare the prequels to the original trilogy in terms of popularity. Hell, by that token, it's impossible to compare the sequels to the original Star Wars. They already had a built-in fanbase. They were destined to do well. They were destined to attract some of those Star Wars fans. As stand-alone movies, I doubt they would have created the fanbase that the original Star Wars did. I'm willing to wager they were pretty much totally dependent on the success of the original movies in order to be successful at all. That's simply my opinion. It's still too soon to tell.

Now can we please stop all this crazy bickering from both sides? I can sense Zion coming in any minute now to start kicking some ass. There was a time when we didn't even need moderators because we could control ourselves and mediate a problem when things got out of hand. Now I'm seeing Zion all over the place, having to tell people to play nice or to close down threads. Come on! Let's be better than that!

Hey, I've been enjoying them, but I still have no desire to thank him for this. Is anybody else sending the DVDs back? If so, what address are you using? Because I'm so sending the '04 discs back.
