Heh, that'd be a thing to behold.

And Tiptup, I guess that was a little extreme, and I thought about that later last night. I can go so far as to say that a man who needlessly clubs a helpless animal would probably deserve rape and murder, I don't think it should extend to anybody who wasn't invovled. But anyway, yeah, I thought the picture was funny too, because I simply assumed it was a joke and nothing more. Maybe it is. Maybe it isn't. I don't know.

Movie Making: Tools of the Trade (opinions from Mac Folks welcome)
Time
I can only discuss what I've used. I've used both Final Cut and Adobe Premiere, and I find them both quite good. Honestly, I haven't used Premiere since I used Final Cut. I'm really not sure what to say beyond that. All my editing has been done on a Mac, so I really don't know if I'm the best person to help you. I'm sure there's probably a version of Premiere for Windows.

So you have no problem with clubbing a helpless baby seal? Interesting priorities your way, too, it seems.

Did I say that anywhere? No. But, putting words into people’s mouths is another interesting form of behavior, so thank you for exhibiting it.

Sorry if that's what I was doing, but that's simply how I inferred your previous post. I've always gotten along with you in the past, so don't think I'm trying to pick a fight with you. I just called it as I saw it, and that's how I saw it. Didn't even realize I was putting words in your mouth.

I'm not sure how you necessarily figure that. Just because George wants it to be shot on a medium he prefers doesn't mean he'll have any more control over the editing than he would if it were shot on film. Spielberg would still have control over who edits his film, and, at this stage in his career, I'm sure he has right to final cut that even the studio wouldn't override.

Pants Game: The Star Wars Edition
Time
Guy: We've analyzed their attack, sir, and there is a danger. Shall I have your pants standing by?

Yoda: Through the pants, things you will see.

Ben: There you will learn from Yoda, the Jedi Master who pantsed me.

Leia: This bucket of pants is never going to get us past this blockade.

Luke: I feel the conflict within you. Let go of your pants!

Luke: I used to bullseye womp rats in my pants back home. They're not much bigger than two meters.

I think the last two would be suitable if Luke was a character in a porn. ^_^

Video Games - a general discussion thread
Time
Wow. I didn't know about any of this (never having had the network before) until you guys said something. So I researched it on Wikipedia, and I am simply appalled. A perfectly good video game network going the route of the generic "manly man" network. I knew that they were airing those Star Trek SEs on G4, but I figured that was the only non-gaming show they had, and that it tied in well enough to the geek subculture who would be watching the network in the first place.

Mandatory Tipping Poll
Time
I think tipping is something that comes from good manners, but, conversely, I think it's just as rude for an establishment to expect anybody to tip them. A tip is just that. I surely tip all the time, but it's a gift, not part of their salary, not part of their expected pay. And, on the other side of the coin, even though this has never happened to me, I hate how establishments make people "pool" tips together and then divide them evenly. Screw that. Tips are based on service and somewhat on luck, and if you happen to be the lucky waiter/waitress who gets a $50 tip, then you should be entitled to be able to do with it what you wish.

A Question About Projection Screen TV's.
Time
Yeah, you certainly have a point. While most NES games didn't have static backgrounds, a lot of them did have everpresent status bars, and even sidescrollers generally had identical blue sky backgrounds no matter where you moved. But even games of today, like Twilight Princess, for example, have portions of the screen that are always there, like the rupee counter and item bar along the right side of the screen.

Well, as far as some things go, I was actually just reading my old Legend of Zelda (NES) manual, and it did say that it would ruin projection screen TVs. I don't know if that applies to anything as recent as the PS2, but there is definitely something in his claim.

That's because Zelda has the status bar at the top the whole time you're playing the game.

Well, I was just using that as an example because it was the most recent NES game I'd been playing. As far as I can remember, they all said that, although that could be a very compelling reason.

any news on the OOT ?
Time
Um, I don't see how not getting DVDs at all would be "bad." I mean, the only reason I could see anybody wanting yet another set of Star Wars DVDs would be if they contained anamorphic versions of the OOT. Besides that, how much more money do you want to throw away for the same thing you've already bought three times in the past two years? These movies are already on DVD. If you want to continue to waste your money, that's fine with me, but I don't see how "not getting a boxset at all" is in any way negative.
