Niles Crane isn't in Cheers, so that can't make any sense to you whatsoever.

Agreed. I remember getting flack in my Star Trek videos because I was wearing a Star Wars t-shirt. How dare I! How dare I violate the sanctity of nerddom. You just can't mix them! Those damn, dirty Trekkies. Would you let a Starfleet marry your Rebel?
Agreed. As I've always said, Abrams Trek is the Star Trek version of Muppet Babies. Entertaining, but the laws of continuity and logic are twisted so hard in order to get kid versions of themselves interacting in a kid world version of their original haunts. It's basically a less believable version of the TNG episode "Rascals," because at least there you knew it was the same people only de-aged. And at least Muppet Babies knew it didn't make sense and didn't waste two hours of technobabble to try and justify itself.
Sorry, sorry. I've just been going through a personal slump, and it's been very difficult for me to get motivated to work. So, yeah, I edited together that montage comparing the two films (of which I made screen caps to promote it), but I haven't done any work since then I'm afraid. :(
But for that matter, why haven't you promoted Cinetropolis over here? And also for that matter, I guess this is my lack of experience with live feeds, but is there any way to tell how many views it gets? It never lists any kind of stats when I go there, and I've been checking!
Well, thankfully, the original line was "over 8,000," so, in a very meta sense, he just meme'd you all to death!
Don't feel guilty. It always pisses me off when staff tries to make me feel guilty for staying. I paid (far too much) to watch this movie. This is part of the movie. I'm entitled to watch it, thank you very much, so don't try to rush me out. I can't tell you how much it pissed me (and the rest of the theatre) off when I went to see Yellow Submarine, and they just cut the projection off during the final song.

Qui-Gon Jinn 1, Jean-Luc Picard 0
Okay, that was the most hilarious thing I'd seen in a long time. Shame they had to choose a Star Trek: Generations action figure, though, but it certainly worked for the comedy.
Yeah, I wouldn't be able to either. They're both great, and totally different. Although, since you're referring to the character of Nero, maybe you're referring not to the Trek franchise as a whole, but to the 2009 film. If that's the case, then I'd easily be able to give you some reasons because that film is terrible. =P
Hell, I still liked the show after it went color. Hell, I liked Mayberry RFD, but I'll stop there because Andy Griffith was only in the first episode.
Sigh. I love this show, and Griffith was an awesome entertainer. And he knew what worked. He was a wonderful comedian in his own right and could have kept that funny, dopey persona he used in Make Room for Daddy and the first season, but he was smart enough to know he worked better as the straight man for Barney and the rest of the wacky Mayberry inhabitants, and, while it never managed to net him an Emmy, that's what made the show.

Madagascar 3
It was certainly the funniest thrill ride of the three, but, while Gloria the hippo has always been nothing more than a token female, here, none of the main four but Alex has anything to do. The other three are just there to occasionally engage in random hijinks or play off their already established foibles (although Melman doesn't even get that) while watching Alex move the plot along. And although this got me a lot of weird looks from my girlfriend, I actually found the French policewoman villain to be strangely sexy.
"What? Power is sexy."

It's just your imagination, Princess.
Yeah... Sure.
Oh, yeah, when Zombie asks, it's all sunshine and butterflies, but when I do it, it's all moonshine and scorpions!

I haven't read the book and I had no problem following it. Of course if you're making out during the movie you're going to miss things...
Fixed for Gaff.
Also, yay for Gaff!
Um... I would hope no making out happened since I wasn't there.
Oooh. I guess I need to be added to this folder as well.
My girlfriend, who was a huge fan of the book, hated that movie. She said that, not only did it not follow the book in any way, shape, or form, but that it was completely incomprehensible to anyone who hadn't read it. Indeed, she said several members of the group she saw it with kept turning and asking what the hell was going on.

Possibly contains Disney's first POV boob-diving sequence. Movies really need more of these.
Yes. It does. It really, really does. As Dominic says, "cleavage-diving" might be a more appropriate term.

So... the triple-breasted cat dancers from Star Trek V?
But you did not quote anything!

Danny Boy brings up a good question: if there is indeed a copy of a negative of the original star wars, but with recomped special effects and nothing else, would you be satisfied with this version? Or would it still not be THE original film for you?
Nope. It's not the original. It's not true to what the artists at the time had to go through to get their optical effects to work, and it's not true to history. And, yes, xhonzi, it's started... again!

Can we utilize this thread for silly political discussions too? I thought this worthwhile:

Should those Swedes armed with Y chromosomes and the accompanying anatomy be required to sit down when urinating? That's what the Leftist party there wants. Please give your thoughts. That sounds like a very controlling government to me ;)
Weird... I thought Sweden was supposed to be a bastion for open-minded tolerance not micromanaging New Yorkian laws. I really don't care how people go to the bathroom... and neither should anyone else. And, I have to ask, how would anyone enforce this if it was put into place?

I actually get off watching the 1982 VHS original 1st release----it probably does not match the 1991/92 version for contrast ratio and colour balance(I do have the widescreen 1991/92 tapes----but so much image information is lost due to the presense of the black bars)
Whaaaa? The "black bars" are there to keep you from losing image information...
Huh. I thought Gold Leader was "Hutch."
I'm... honestly not sure. I guess I was thinking of it a little when I made my statement, although it certainly holds true for Luke whichever version of the story you want to go with. And it technically holds true for the ROTJ idea of Owen being Ben's brother... although then that probably creates the question of why Ben and Owen don't have the same dialect, although that could probably be explained by Ben running off to be a Jedi and gaining a different dialect while gone. But then again, the same idea, as has been suggested already, could have happened with Anakin.
