Harmy's THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Despecialized Edition HD - V2.0 - MKV & AVCHD (Released)
Time

In the discussion thread for the Despecialized version of Star Wars I mentioned the crawl, and now I’m curious about something from the TESB crawl.

Some time ago poita posted a preview of a scan of the first reel of a UK theatrical print of TESB (the link is probably dead, I haven’t checked). Upon seeing the crawl in that scan, I don’t see the “smearing” (or whatever it is) that can be seen in the crawls from both Despecialized (which, I guess, it comes from the Bluray) and the Grindhouse scan, specially in the letters that are the closest to the bottom black bar. Maybe there isn’t any discrepancy and poita’s scan was too dark or whatever, but since I have no idea and I’m a n00b when it comes to these questions I prefer to post some screen captures. It’s probably nothing…

Upper images from Despecialized. Middle images from Grindhouse (color corrected by Dreamaster). Lower images from poita:

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

Harmy, have you made any plans about what are you gonna do with the ALTA, the opening logo and the crawl? I am asking this because (I think you’re aware of this waaaay before I knew about it) the Star Wars logo used in 1977-78 prints shaked like crazy compared with later pre-ANH prints, the GOUT crawl (which IIRC you used it for your recreated crawl) is not the theatrical one, and the ALTA/credit titles had dark blue drop shadows (it can be seen in the 4K77 previews).

BTW, thank you for your dedication and time spent on this project. Wishing you the best.

1977 70mm soundtrack recording (Released)
Time

alexp120, first of all thank you for the GOUT-sync’d versions of morgands1 and Scofield’s recordings you posted some time ago. Since you have released two more tracks, I want to ask: are you planning to release more projects? I have muxed your previous releases to my custom Despecialized mkvs, but I prefer to wait until you have finished all your projects before I add more tracks.

Thanks again!

These are the XML files. They are for the latest versions of Despecialized (2.7, 2.0 and 2.5), but they can serve for earlier or future versions and for any other GOUT-synced project. In that case, just remove the last chapter for each movie (those with the title “Despecialized v2.X Credits”).

It seems the uloz link for part 01 of the AVCHD version of TESB 2.0 is also broken.

JEDIT:

Wow! I’d never given this any thought, after reading this post I learned that
my copy of Jedi does indeed have chapter names, while the other two films do not.
Since I’ve yet to burn my custom projects I’m sure I would have discovered this
at that time and come hear asking this same question. Thanks for the links, I’ve
snagged all three to text files for future muxing!

I can give XML files including all chapter titles for each movie so you don’t need to manually add/create them in mkvtoolnix’s chapter editor. Just load the XML file and remux.

Thank you CatBus for the tracks. And thank you for Project Threepio btw.

I have downloaded the DVD5 version of SW DeEd 2.7 and I remuxed it with the Castillian dub, no problems. I’ll try the other movies tomorrow.

EDIT: Unfortunately, Bluto, I do not have access to Usenet so it’s not an option for me. Not sure what can I do then.

Sorry, I have just registered to say “thanks” to Harmy and to ask a favour…

I am downloading Despecialized for a family member. He doesn’t want 20~ GB per movie files, so I’m downloading the NTSC DVD5 versions for him, but the DVD5 versions do not have the Castillian dubs IIRC. The HD versions I have doesn’t feature the Castillian dubs either, because while I downloaded the vanilla mkv files of SW 2.7, TESB 2.0 and RotJ 2.5 a long time ago, I ended up remuxing them and deleting nearly all the audio tracks except the English ones and the commentaries as I didn’t think I would need any dubs. That way I saved a few GBs. Silly me.

I don’t have problems remuxing files, I just need the Castillian tracks for the trilogy if someone is kind enough to provide them. If not, then I’ll redownload the original files and do it myself.

I also want to ask if you people know why is link 09 of the multipart RAR download of the NSTC DVD5 version of RotJ DeEd 2.5 broken. No matter whether I use Firefox or Chrome, this link doesn’t work, it only downloads a 60,1 kB file: [redacted by mod - no links to downloads of copyrighted material]

Cheers, and thank you Harmy for your work.
